  • 2:85 · Al-Baqarahٱلْحَيَوٰةِ the lifeThen, you are those [same ones who are] killing one another and evicting a party of your people from their homes, cooperating against them in sin and aggression. And if they come to you as captives, you ransom them, although their eviction was forbidden to you. So do you believe in part of the Scripture and disbelieve in part? Then what is the recompense for those who do that among you except disgrace in worldly life; and on the Day of Resurrection they will be sent back to the severest of punishment. And Allah is not unaware of what you do.
  • 2:86 · Al-Baqarahٱلْحَيَوٰةَ the lifeThose are the ones who have bought the life of this world [in exchange] for the Hereafter, so the punishment will not be lightened for them, nor will they be aided.
  • 2:96 · Al-Baqarahحَيَوٰةٍۢ lifeAnd you will surely find them the most greedy of people for life - [even] more than those who associate others with Allah. One of them wishes that he could be granted life a thousand years, but it would not remove him in the least from the [coming] punishment that he should be granted life. And Allah is Seeing of what they do.
  • 2:179 · Al-Baqarahحَيَوٰةٌۭ (is) lifeAnd there is for you in legal retribution [saving of] life, O you [people] of understanding, that you may become righteous.
  • 2:204 · Al-Baqarahٱلْحَيَوٰةِ the lifeAnd of the people is he whose speech pleases you in worldly life, and he calls Allah to witness as to what is in his heart, yet he is the fiercest of opponents.
  • 2:212 · Al-Baqarahٱلْحَيَوٰةُ (is) the lifeBeautified for those who disbelieve is the life of this world, and they ridicule those who believe. But those who fear Allah are above them on the Day of Resurrection. And Allah gives provision to whom He wills without account.
  • 3:14 · Ali 'Imranٱلْحَيَوٰةِ (of) lifeBeautified for people is the love of that which they desire - of women and sons, heaped-up sums of gold and silver, fine branded horses, and cattle and tilled land. That is the enjoyment of worldly life, but Allah has with Him the best return.
  • 3:117 · Ali 'Imranٱلْحَيَوٰةِ [the] lifeThe example of what they spend in this worldly life is like that of a wind containing frost which strikes the harvest of a people who have wronged themselves and destroys it. And Allah has not wronged them, but they wrong themselves.
  • 3:185 · Ali 'Imranٱلْحَيَوٰةُ (is) the lifeEvery soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion.
  • 4:74 · An-Nisaٱلْحَيَوٰةَ the lifeSo let those fight in the cause of Allah who sell the life of this world for the Hereafter. And he who fights in the cause of Allah and is killed or achieves victory - We will bestow upon him a great reward.
  • 4:94 · An-Nisaٱلْحَيَوٰةِ (of) the lifeO you who have believed, when you go forth [to fight] in the cause of Allah, investigate; and do not say to one who gives you [a greeting of] peace "You are not a believer," aspiring for the goods of worldly life; for with Allah are many acquisitions. You [yourselves] were like that before; then Allah conferred His favor upon you, so investigate. Indeed Allah is ever, with what you do, Acquainted.
  • 4:109 · An-Nisaٱلْحَيَوٰةِ the lifeHere you are - those who argue on their behalf in [this] worldly life - but who will argue with Allah for them on the Day of Resurrection, or who will [then] be their representative?
  • 6:29 · Al-An'amحَيَاتُنَا our lifeAnd they say, "There is none but our worldly life, and we will not be resurrected."
  • 6:32 · Al-An'amٱلْحَيَوٰةُ (is) the lifeAnd the worldly life is not but amusement and diversion; but the home of the Hereafter is best for those who fear Allah, so will you not reason?
  • 6:70 · Al-An'amٱلْحَيَوٰةُ the lifeAnd leave those who take their religion as amusement and diversion and whom the worldly life has deluded. But remind with the Qur'an, lest a soul be given up to destruction for what it earned; it will have other than Allah no protector and no intercessor. And if it should offer every compensation, it would not be taken from it. Those are the ones who are given to destruction for what they have earned. For them will be a drink of scalding water and a painful punishment because they used to disbelieve.
  • 6:130 · Al-An'amٱلْحَيَوٰةُ the life"O company of jinn and mankind, did there not come to you messengers from among you, relating to you My verses and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" • 7:51 · Al-A'rafٱلْحَيَوٰةُ the lifeWho took their religion as distraction and amusement and whom the worldly life deluded." So today We will forget them just as they forgot the meeting of this Day of theirs and for having rejected Our verses.
  • 7:152 · Al-A'rafٱلْحَيَوٰةِ the lifeIndeed, those who took the calf [for worship] will obtain anger from their Lord and humiliation in the life of this world, and thus do We recompense the inventors [of falsehood].

  • 10:24 · Yunusٱلْحَيَوٰةِ (of) the lifeThe example of [this] worldly life is but like rain which We have sent down from the sky that the plants of the earth absorb - [those] from which men and livestock eat - until, when the earth has taken on its adornment and is beautified and its people suppose that they have capability over it, there comes to it Our command by night or by day, and We make it as a harvest, as if it had not flourished yesterday.
