Surah 33 of 114 · Madani
سُورَةُ الأَحۡزَابِ
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
1
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ ٱتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ وَٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًۭا
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO Prophetٱلنَّبِىُّl-nabiyuO ProphetٱتَّقِittaqiFearٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَلَاwalāand (do) notتُطِعِtuṭiʿiobeyٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelieversوَٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ ۗwal-munāfiqīnaand the hypocritesإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisعَلِيمًاʿalīmanAll-KnowerحَكِيمًۭاḥakīmanAll-Wise
O Prophet, fear Allah and do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise

33:1
2
وَٱتَّبِعْ مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرًۭا
وَٱتَّبِعْwa-ittabiʿAnd followمَاmāwhatيُوحَىٰٓyūḥāis inspiredإِلَيْكَilaykato youمِنminfromرَّبِّكَ ۚrabbikayour LordإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou doخَبِيرًۭاkhabīranAll-Aware
And follow that which is revealed to you from your Lord. Indeed Allah is ever, with what you do, Acquainted

3
وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَكِيلًۭا
وَتَوَكَّلْwatawakkalAnd put your trustعَلَىʿalāinٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahiAllahوَكَفَىٰwakafāAnd Allah is sufficientبِٱللَّهِbil-lahiAnd Allah is sufficientوَكِيلًۭاwakīlan(as) Disposer of affairs
And rely upon Allah; and sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs

4
مَّا جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لِرَجُلٍۢ مِّن قَلْبَيْنِ فِى جَوْفِهِۦ ۚ وَمَا جَعَلَ أَزْوَٰجَكُمُ ٱلَّـٰٓـِٔى تُظَـٰهِرُونَ مِنْهُنَّ أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمْ ۚ وَمَا جَعَلَ أَدْعِيَآءَكُمْ أَبْنَآءَكُمْ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ قَوْلُكُم بِأَفْوَٰهِكُمْ ۖ وَٱللَّهُ يَقُولُ ٱلْحَقَّ وَهُوَ يَهْدِى ٱلسَّبِيلَ
مَّاmāNotجَعَلَjaʿalaAllah (has) madeٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah (has) madeلِرَجُلٍۢlirajulinfor any manمِّنmin[of]قَلْبَيْنِqalbaynitwo heartsفِىfīinجَوْفِهِۦ ۚjawfihihis interiorوَمَاwamāAnd notجَعَلَjaʿalaHe (has) madeأَزْوَٰجَكُمُazwājakumuyour wivesٱلَّـٰٓـِٔىallāīwhomتُظَـٰهِرُونَtuẓāhirūnayou declare unlawfulمِنْهُنَّmin'hunna[of them]أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمْ ۚummahātikum(as) your mothersوَمَاwamāAnd notجَعَلَjaʿalaHe has madeأَدْعِيَآءَكُمْadʿiyāakumyour adopted sonsأَبْنَآءَكُمْ ۚabnāakumyour sonsذَٰلِكُمْdhālikumThatقَوْلُكُمqawlukum(is) your sayingبِأَفْوَٰهِكُمْ ۖbi-afwāhikumby your mouthsوَٱللَّهُwal-lahubut Allahيَقُولُyaqūlusaysٱلْحَقَّl-ḥaqathe truthوَهُوَwahuwaand Heيَهْدِىyahdīguidesٱلسَّبِيلَl-sabīla(to) the Way
Allah has not made for a man two hearts in his interior. And He has not made your wives whom you declare unlawful your mothers. And he has not made your adopted sons your [true] sons. That is [merely] your saying by your mouths, but Allah says the truth, and He guides to the [right] way

33:4
5
ٱدْعُوهُمْ لِـَٔابَآئِهِمْ هُوَ أَقْسَطُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ فَإِن لَّمْ تَعْلَمُوٓا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ فَإِخْوَٰنُكُمْ فِى ٱلدِّينِ وَمَوَٰلِيكُمْ ۚ وَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌۭ فِيمَآ أَخْطَأْتُم بِهِۦ وَلَـٰكِن مَّا تَعَمَّدَتْ قُلُوبُكُمْ ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًۭا رَّحِيمًا
ٱدْعُوهُمْid'ʿūhumCall themلِـَٔابَآئِهِمْliābāihimby their fathersهُوَhuwaitأَقْسَطُaqsaṭu(is) more justعِندَʿindanearٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahiAllahفَإِنfa-inBut ifلَّمْlamnotتَعْلَمُوٓا۟taʿlamūyou knowءَابَآءَهُمْābāahumtheir fathers فَإِخْوَٰنُكُمْfa-ikh'wānukumthen (they are) your brothersفِىfīinٱلدِّينِl-dīni[the] religionوَمَوَٰلِيكُمْ ۚwamawālīkumand your friendsوَلَيْسَwalaysaBut not isعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youجُنَاحٌۭjunāḥunany blameفِيمَآfīmāin whatأَخْطَأْتُمakhṭatumyou made a mistakeبِهِۦbihiin itوَلَـٰكِنwalākinbutمَّاmāwhatتَعَمَّدَتْtaʿammadatintendedقُلُوبُكُمْ ۚqulūbukumyour heartsوَكَانَwakānaAnd Allahٱللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allahغَفُورًۭاghafūran(is) Oft-ForgivingرَّحِيمًاraḥīmanMost Merciful
Call them by [the names of] their fathers; it is more just in the sight of Allah. But if you do not know their fathers - then they are [still] your brothers in religion and those entrusted to you. And there is no blame upon you for that in which you have erred but [only for] what your hearts intended. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful

33:5
6
ٱلنَّبِىُّ أَوْلَىٰ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ ۖ وَأَزْوَٰجُهُۥٓ أُمَّهَـٰتُهُمْ ۗ وَأُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَرْحَامِ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلَىٰ بِبَعْضٍۢ فِى كِتَـٰبِ ٱللَّهِ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُهَـٰجِرِينَ إِلَّآ أَن تَفْعَلُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَوْلِيَآئِكُم مَّعْرُوفًۭا ۚ كَانَ ذَٰلِكَ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مَسْطُورًۭا
ٱلنَّبِىُّal-nabiyuThe Prophetأَوْلَىٰawlā(is) closerبِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَbil-mu'minīnato the believersمِنْminthanأَنفُسِهِمْ ۖanfusihimtheir own selvesوَأَزْوَٰجُهُۥٓwa-azwājuhuand his wivesأُمَّهَـٰتُهُمْ ۗummahātuhum(are) their mothersوَأُو۟لُوا۟wa-ulūAnd possessorsٱلْأَرْحَامِl-arḥāmi(of) relationshipsبَعْضُهُمْbaʿḍuhumsome of themأَوْلَىٰawlā(are) closerبِبَعْضٍۢbibaʿḍinto anotherفِىfīinكِتَـٰبِkitābi(the) Decreeٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahمِنَminathanٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believersوَٱلْمُهَـٰجِرِينَwal-muhājirīnaand the emigrantsإِلَّآillāexceptأَنanthatتَفْعَلُوٓا۟tafʿalūyou doإِلَىٰٓilātoأَوْلِيَآئِكُمawliyāikumyour friendsمَّعْرُوفًۭا ۚmaʿrūfana kindnessكَانَkānaThat isذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat isفِىfīinٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābithe Bookمَسْطُورًۭاmasṭūranwritten
The Prophet is more worthy of the believers than themselves, and his wives are [in the position of] their mothers. And those of [blood] relationship are more entitled [to inheritance] in the decree of Allah than the [other] believers and the emigrants, except that you may do to your close associates a kindness [through bequest]. That was in the Book inscribed

33:6
7
وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِنَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ مِيثَـٰقَهُمْ وَمِنكَ وَمِن نُّوحٍۢ وَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَى ٱبْنِ مَرْيَمَ ۖ وَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُم مِّيثَـٰقًا غَلِيظًۭا
وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenأَخَذْنَاakhadhnāWe tookمِنَminafromٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَl-nabiyīnathe Prophetsمِيثَـٰقَهُمْmīthāqahumtheir Covenantوَمِنكَwaminkaand from youوَمِنwaminand fromنُّوحٍۢnūḥinNuhوَإِبْرَٰهِيمَwa-ib'rāhīmaand Ibrahimوَمُوسَىٰwamūsāand Musaوَعِيسَىwaʿīsāand Isaٱبْنِib'nisonمَرْيَمَ ۖmaryama(of) Maryamوَأَخَذْنَاwa-akhadhnāAnd We tookمِنْهُمmin'humfrom themمِّيثَـٰقًاmīthāqana covenantغَلِيظًۭاghalīẓanstrong
And [mention, O Muhammad], when We took from the prophets their covenant and from you and from Noah and Abraham and Moses and Jesus, the son of Mary; and We took from them a solemn covenant

33:7
8
لِّيَسْـَٔلَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ عَن صِدْقِهِمْ ۚ وَأَعَدَّ لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًۭا
لِّيَسْـَٔلَliyasalaThat He may askٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَl-ṣādiqīnathe truthfulعَنʿanaboutصِدْقِهِمْ ۚṣid'qihimtheir truthوَأَعَدَّwa-aʿaddaAnd He has preparedلِلْكَـٰفِرِينَlil'kāfirīnafor the disbelieversعَذَابًاʿadhābana punishmentأَلِيمًۭاalīmanpainful
That He may question the truthful about their truth. And He has prepared for the disbelievers a painful punishment

33:8
9
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ جَآءَتْكُمْ جُنُودٌۭ فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًۭا وَجُنُودًۭا لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرًا
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieveٱذْكُرُوا۟udh'kurūRememberنِعْمَةَniʿ'mata(the) Favorٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youإِذْidhwhenجَآءَتْكُمْjāatkumcame to youجُنُودٌۭjunūdun(the) hostsفَأَرْسَلْنَاfa-arsalnāand We sentعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themرِيحًۭاrīḥana windوَجُنُودًۭاwajunūdanand hostsلَّمْlamnotتَرَوْهَا ۚtarawhāyou (could) see themوَكَانَwakānaAnd Allah isٱللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah isبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou doبَصِيرًاbaṣīranAll-Seer
O you who have believed, remember the favor of Allah upon you when armies came to [attack] you and We sent upon them a wind and armies [of angels] you did not see. And ever is Allah, of what you do, Seeing

33:9
10
إِذْ جَآءُوكُم مِّن فَوْقِكُمْ وَمِنْ أَسْفَلَ مِنكُمْ وَإِذْ زَاغَتِ ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرُ وَبَلَغَتِ ٱلْقُلُوبُ ٱلْحَنَاجِرَ وَتَظُنُّونَ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلظُّنُونَا۠
إِذْidhWhenجَآءُوكُمjāūkumthey came upon youمِّنminfromفَوْقِكُمْfawqikumabove youوَمِنْwaminand fromأَسْفَلَasfalabelowمِنكُمْminkumyouوَإِذْwa-idhand whenزَاغَتِzāghatigrew wildٱلْأَبْصَـٰرُl-abṣāruthe eyesوَبَلَغَتِwabalaghatiand reachedٱلْقُلُوبُl-qulūbuthe heartsٱلْحَنَاجِرَl-ḥanājirathe throatsوَتَظُنُّونَwataẓunnūnaand you assumedبِٱللَّهِbil-lahiabout Allahٱلظُّنُونَا۠l-ẓunūnāthe assumptions
[Remember] when they came at you from above you and from below you, and when eyes shifted [in fear], and hearts reached the throats and you assumed about Allah [various] assumptions

33:10
11
هُنَالِكَ ٱبْتُلِىَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَزُلْزِلُوا۟ زِلْزَالًۭا شَدِيدًۭا
هُنَالِكَhunālikaThere ٱبْتُلِىَub'tuliyawere triedٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَl-mu'minūnathe believersوَزُلْزِلُوا۟wazul'zilūand shakenزِلْزَالًۭاzil'zālan(with a) shakeشَدِيدًۭاshadīdansevere
There the believers were tested and shaken with a severe shaking

33:11
12
وَإِذْ يَقُولُ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌۭ مَّا وَعَدَنَا ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ إِلَّا غُرُورًۭا
وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenيَقُولُyaqūlusaidٱلْمُنَـٰفِقُونَl-munāfiqūnathe hypocritesوَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand thoseفِىfīinقُلُوبِهِمqulūbihimtheir heartsمَّرَضٌۭmaraḍun(was) a diseaseمَّاmāNotوَعَدَنَاwaʿadanāAllah promised usٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah promised usوَرَسُولُهُۥٓwarasūluhuand His messengerإِلَّاillāexceptغُرُورًۭاghurūrandelusion
And [remember] when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is disease said, "Allah and His Messenger did not promise us except delusion

33:12
13
وَإِذْ قَالَت طَّآئِفَةٌۭ مِّنْهُمْ يَـٰٓأَهْلَ يَثْرِبَ لَا مُقَامَ لَكُمْ فَٱرْجِعُوا۟ ۚ وَيَسْتَـْٔذِنُ فَرِيقٌۭ مِّنْهُمُ ٱلنَّبِىَّ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّ بُيُوتَنَا عَوْرَةٌۭ وَمَا هِىَ بِعَوْرَةٍ ۖ إِن يُرِيدُونَ إِلَّا فِرَارًۭا
وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenقَالَتqālatsaidطَّآئِفَةٌۭṭāifatuna partyمِّنْهُمْmin'humof themيَـٰٓأَهْلَyāahlaO Peopleيَثْرِبَyathriba(of) YathribلَاlāNoمُقَامَmuqāmastandلَكُمْlakumfor youفَٱرْجِعُوا۟ ۚfa-ir'jiʿūso returnوَيَسْتَـْٔذِنُwayastadhinuAnd asked permissionفَرِيقٌۭfarīquna groupمِّنْهُمُmin'humuof themٱلنَّبِىَّl-nabiya(from) the ProphetيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnasayingإِنَّinnaIndeedبُيُوتَنَاbuyūtanāour housesعَوْرَةٌۭʿawratun(are) exposedوَمَاwamāand notهِىَhiyatheyبِعَوْرَةٍ ۖbiʿawratin(were) exposedإِنinNotيُرِيدُونَyurīdūnathey wishedإِلَّاillābutفِرَارًۭاfirāranto flee
And when a faction of them said, "O people of Yathrib, there is no stability for you [here], so return [home]." And a party of them asked permission of the Prophet, saying, "Indeed, our houses are unprotected," while they were not exposed. They did not intend except to flee

33:13
14
وَلَوْ دُخِلَتْ عَلَيْهِم مِّنْ أَقْطَارِهَا ثُمَّ سُئِلُوا۟ ٱلْفِتْنَةَ لَـَٔاتَوْهَا وَمَا تَلَبَّثُوا۟ بِهَآ إِلَّا يَسِيرًۭا
وَلَوْwalawAnd ifدُخِلَتْdukhilathad been enteredعَلَيْهِمʿalayhimupon themمِّنْminfromأَقْطَارِهَاaqṭārihāall its sidesثُمَّthummathenسُئِلُوا۟su-ilūthey had been askedٱلْفِتْنَةَl-fit'natathe treacheryلَـَٔاتَوْهَاlaātawhāthey (would) have certainly done itوَمَاwamāand notتَلَبَّثُوا۟talabbathūthey (would) have hesitatedبِهَآbihāover itإِلَّاillāexceptيَسِيرًۭاyasīrana little
And if they had been entered upon from all its [surrounding] regions and fitnah had been demanded of them, they would have done it and not hesitated over it except briefly

33:14
15
وَلَقَدْ كَانُوا۟ عَـٰهَدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مِن قَبْلُ لَا يُوَلُّونَ ٱلْأَدْبَـٰرَ ۚ وَكَانَ عَهْدُ ٱللَّهِ مَسْـُٔولًۭا
وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyكَانُوا۟kānūthey hadعَـٰهَدُوا۟ʿāhadūpromisedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahمِنminbeforeقَبْلُqablubeforeلَاlānotيُوَلُّونَyuwallūnathey would turnٱلْأَدْبَـٰرَ ۚl-adbāratheir backsوَكَانَwakānaAnd isعَهْدُʿahdu(the) promiseٱللَّهِl-lahi(to) Allahمَسْـُٔولًۭاmasūlanto be questioned
And they had already promised Allah before not to turn their backs and flee. And ever is the promise to Allah [that about which one will be] questioned

33:15
16
قُل لَّن يَنفَعَكُمُ ٱلْفِرَارُ إِن فَرَرْتُم مِّنَ ٱلْمَوْتِ أَوِ ٱلْقَتْلِ وَإِذًۭا لَّا تُمَتَّعُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا
قُلqulSayلَّنlanNeverيَنفَعَكُمُyanfaʿakumuwill benefit youٱلْفِرَارُl-firāruthe fleeingإِنinifفَرَرْتُمfarartumyou fleeمِّنَminafromٱلْمَوْتِl-mawtideathأَوِawiorٱلْقَتْلِl-qatlikillingوَإِذًۭاwa-idhanand thenلَّاlānotتُمَتَّعُونَtumattaʿūnayou will be allowed to enjoyإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلًۭاqalīlana little
Say, [O Muhammad], "Never will fleeing benefit you if you should flee from death or killing; and then [if you did], you would not be given enjoyment [of life] except for a little

17
قُلْ مَن ذَا ٱلَّذِى يَعْصِمُكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ إِنْ أَرَادَ بِكُمْ سُوٓءًا أَوْ أَرَادَ بِكُمْ رَحْمَةًۭ ۚ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِيًّۭا وَلَا نَصِيرًۭا
قُلْqulSayمَنmanWhoذَاdhā(is) it thatٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) it thatيَعْصِمُكُمyaʿṣimukum(can) protect youمِّنَminafromٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahإِنْinIfأَرَادَarādaHe intendsبِكُمْbikumfor youسُوٓءًاsūanany harmأَوْaworأَرَادَarādaHe intendsبِكُمْbikumfor youرَحْمَةًۭ ۚraḥmatana mercyوَلَاwalāAnd notيَجِدُونَyajidūnathey will findلَهُمlahumfor themمِّنminbesidesدُونِdūnibesidesٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَلِيًّۭاwaliyyanany protectorوَلَاwalāand notنَصِيرًۭاnaṣīranany helper
Say, "Who is it that can protect you from Allah if He intends for you an ill or intends for you a mercy?" And they will not find for themselves besides Allah any protector or any helper

33:17
18
۞ قَدْ يَعْلَمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُعَوِّقِينَ مِنكُمْ وَٱلْقَآئِلِينَ لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ هَلُمَّ إِلَيْنَا ۖ وَلَا يَأْتُونَ ٱلْبَأْسَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
۞ قَدْqadVerilyيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuAllah knowsٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah knowsٱلْمُعَوِّقِينَl-muʿawiqīnathose who hinderمِنكُمْminkumamong youوَٱلْقَآئِلِينَwal-qāilīnaand those who sayلِإِخْوَٰنِهِمْli-ikh'wānihimto their brothersهَلُمَّhalummaComeإِلَيْنَا ۖilaynāto usوَلَاwalāand notيَأْتُونَyatūnathey comeٱلْبَأْسَl-basa(to) the battleإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلًاqalīlana few
Already Allah knows the hinderers among you and those [hypocrites] who say to their brothers, "Come to us," and do not go to battle, except for a few

33:18
19
أَشِحَّةً عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ ٱلْخَوْفُ رَأَيْتَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ تَدُورُ أَعْيُنُهُمْ كَٱلَّذِى يُغْشَىٰ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْمَوْتِ ۖ فَإِذَا ذَهَبَ ٱلْخَوْفُ سَلَقُوكُم بِأَلْسِنَةٍ حِدَادٍ أَشِحَّةً عَلَى ٱلْخَيْرِ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَمْ يُؤْمِنُوا۟ فَأَحْبَطَ ٱللَّهُ أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ ۚ وَكَانَ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرًۭا
أَشِحَّةًashiḥḥatanMiserlyعَلَيْكُمْ ۖʿalaykumtowards youفَإِذَاfa-idhāBut whenجَآءَjāacomesٱلْخَوْفُl-khawfuthe fearرَأَيْتَهُمْra-aytahumyou see themيَنظُرُونَyanẓurūnalookingإِلَيْكَilaykaat youتَدُورُtadūrurevolvingأَعْيُنُهُمْaʿyunuhumtheir eyesكَٱلَّذِىka-alladhīlike one whoيُغْشَىٰyugh'shāfaintsعَلَيْهِʿalayhifaintsمِنَminafromٱلْمَوْتِ ۖl-mawti[the] deathفَإِذَاfa-idhāBut whenذَهَبَdhahabadepartsٱلْخَوْفُl-khawfuthe fearسَلَقُوكُمsalaqūkumthey smite youبِأَلْسِنَةٍbi-alsinatinwith tonguesحِدَادٍḥidādinsharpأَشِحَّةًashiḥḥatanmiserlyعَلَىʿalātowardsٱلْخَيْرِ ۚl-khayrithe goodأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose لَمْlamnotيُؤْمِنُوا۟yu'minūthey have believedفَأَحْبَطَfa-aḥbaṭaso Allah made worthlessٱللَّهُl-lahuso Allah made worthlessأَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ ۚaʿmālahumtheir deedsوَكَانَwakānaAnd isذَٰلِكَdhālikathatعَلَىʿalāforٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahيَسِيرًۭاyasīraneasy
Indisposed toward you. And when fear comes, you see them looking at you, their eyes revolving like one being overcome by death. But when fear departs, they lash you with sharp tongues, indisposed toward [any] good. Those have not believed, so Allah has rendered their deeds worthless, and ever is that, for Allah, easy

33:19
20
يَحْسَبُونَ ٱلْأَحْزَابَ لَمْ يَذْهَبُوا۟ ۖ وَإِن يَأْتِ ٱلْأَحْزَابُ يَوَدُّوا۟ لَوْ أَنَّهُم بَادُونَ فِى ٱلْأَعْرَابِ يَسْـَٔلُونَ عَنْ أَنۢبَآئِكُمْ ۖ وَلَوْ كَانُوا۟ فِيكُم مَّا قَـٰتَلُوٓا۟ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا
يَحْسَبُونَyaḥsabūnaThey thinkٱلْأَحْزَابَl-aḥzābathe confederatesلَمْlam(have) notيَذْهَبُوا۟ ۖyadhhabūwithdrawnوَإِنwa-inAnd ifيَأْتِyati(should) comeٱلْأَحْزَابُl-aḥzābuthe confederatesيَوَدُّوا۟yawaddūthey would wishلَوْlawifأَنَّهُمannahumthat they (were)بَادُونَbādūnaliving in (the) desertفِىfīamongٱلْأَعْرَابِl-aʿrābithe Bedouinsيَسْـَٔلُونَyasalūnaaskingعَنْʿanaboutأَنۢبَآئِكُمْ ۖanbāikumyour newsوَلَوْwalawAnd ifكَانُوا۟kānūthey wereفِيكُمfīkumamong youمَّاmānotقَـٰتَلُوٓا۟qātalūthey would fightإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلًۭاqalīlana little
They think the companies have not [yet] withdrawn. And if the companies should come [again], they would wish they were in the desert among the bedouins, inquiring [from afar] about your news. And if they should be among you, they would not fight except for a little

33:20
21
لَّقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِى رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌۭ لِّمَن كَانَ يَرْجُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَ وَذَكَرَ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًۭا
لَّقَدْlaqadCertainlyكَانَkānaisلَكُمْlakumfor youفِىfīinرَسُولِrasūli(the) Messengerٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahأُسْوَةٌus'watunan excellent exampleحَسَنَةٌۭḥasanatunan excellent exampleلِّمَنlimanfor (one) whoكَانَkānahasيَرْجُوا۟yarjūhopeٱللَّهَl-laha(in) Allahوَٱلْيَوْمَwal-yawmaand the Dayٱلْـَٔاخِرَl-ākhirathe Lastوَذَكَرَwadhakaraand remembersٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَثِيرًۭاkathīranmuch
There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and [who] remembers Allah often

33:21
22
وَلَمَّا رَءَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ٱلْأَحْزَابَ قَالُوا۟ هَـٰذَا مَا وَعَدَنَا ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَصَدَقَ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ ۚ وَمَا زَادَهُمْ إِلَّآ إِيمَـٰنًۭا وَتَسْلِيمًۭا
وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenرَءَاraāsawٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَl-mu'minūnathe believersٱلْأَحْزَابَl-aḥzābathe confederatesقَالُوا۟qālūthey saidهَـٰذَاhādhāThisمَاmā(is) whatوَعَدَنَاwaʿadanāAllah promised usٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah promised usوَرَسُولُهُۥwarasūluhuand His Messengerوَصَدَقَwaṣadaqaand Allah spoke the truthٱللَّهُl-lahuand Allah spoke the truthوَرَسُولُهُۥ ۚwarasūluhuand His MessengerوَمَاwamāAnd notزَادَهُمْzādahumit increased themإِلَّآillāexceptإِيمَـٰنًۭاīmānan(in) faithوَتَسْلِيمًۭاwataslīmanand submission
And when the believers saw the companies, they said, "This is what Allah and His Messenger had promised us, and Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth." And it increased them only in faith and acceptance

33:22
23
مِّنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌۭ صَدَقُوا۟ مَا عَـٰهَدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ ۖ فَمِنْهُم مَّن قَضَىٰ نَحْبَهُۥ وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَنتَظِرُ ۖ وَمَا بَدَّلُوا۟ تَبْدِيلًۭا
مِّنَminaAmongٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believersرِجَالٌۭrijālun(are) menصَدَقُوا۟ṣadaqū(who) have been trueمَاmā(to) whatعَـٰهَدُوا۟ʿāhadūthey promised Allahٱللَّهَl-lahathey promised Allahعَلَيْهِ ۖʿalayhi[on it]فَمِنْهُمfamin'humAnd among themمَّنman(is he) whoقَضَىٰqaḍāhas fulfilledنَحْبَهُۥnaḥbahuhis vowوَمِنْهُمwamin'humand among themمَّنman(is he) whoيَنتَظِرُ ۖyantaẓiruawaitsوَمَاwamāAnd notبَدَّلُوا۟baddalūthey alterتَبْدِيلًۭاtabdīlan(by) any alteration
Among the believers are men true to what they promised Allah. Among them is he who has fulfilled his vow [to the death], and among them is he who awaits [his chance]. And they did not alter [the terms of their commitment] by any alteration

33:23
24
لِّيَجْزِىَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ بِصِدْقِهِمْ وَيُعَذِّبَ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ إِن شَآءَ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورًۭا رَّحِيمًۭا
لِّيَجْزِىَliyajziyaThat Allah may rewardٱللَّهُl-lahuThat Allah may rewardٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَl-ṣādiqīnathe truthfulبِصِدْقِهِمْbiṣid'qihimfor their truthوَيُعَذِّبَwayuʿadhibaand punishٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَl-munāfiqīnathe hypocritesإِنinifشَآءَshāaHe willsأَوْaworيَتُوبَyatūbaturn in mercyعَلَيْهِمْ ۚʿalayhimto themإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisغَفُورًۭاghafūranOft-ForgivingرَّحِيمًۭاraḥīmanMost Merciful
That Allah may reward the truthful for their truth and punish the hypocrites if He wills or accept their repentance. Indeed, Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful

25
وَرَدَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِغَيْظِهِمْ لَمْ يَنَالُوا۟ خَيْرًۭا ۚ وَكَفَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٱلْقِتَالَ ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ قَوِيًّا عَزِيزًۭا
وَرَدَّwaraddaAnd Allah turned backٱللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah turned backٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelievedبِغَيْظِهِمْbighayẓihimin their rageلَمْlamnotيَنَالُوا۟yanālūthey obtainedخَيْرًۭا ۚkhayranany goodوَكَفَىwakafāAnd sufficient isٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna(for) the believersٱلْقِتَالَ ۚl-qitāla(in) the battleوَكَانَwakānaand Allah isٱللَّهُl-lahuand Allah isقَوِيًّاqawiyyanAll-StrongعَزِيزًۭاʿazīzanAll-Mighty
And Allah repelled those who disbelieved, in their rage, not having obtained any good. And sufficient was Allah for the believers in battle, and ever is Allah Powerful and Exalted in Might

26
وَأَنزَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَـٰهَرُوهُم مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مِن صَيَاصِيهِمْ وَقَذَفَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلرُّعْبَ فَرِيقًۭا تَقْتُلُونَ وَتَأْسِرُونَ فَرِيقًۭا
وَأَنزَلَwa-anzalaAnd He brought downٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoظَـٰهَرُوهُمẓāharūhumbacked themمِّنْminamongأَهْلِahli(the) Peopleٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Scriptureمِنminfromصَيَاصِيهِمْṣayāṣīhimtheir fortressesوَقَذَفَwaqadhafaand castفِىfīintoقُلُوبِهِمُqulūbihimutheir heartsٱلرُّعْبَl-ruʿ'ba[the] terrorفَرِيقًۭاfarīqana groupتَقْتُلُونَtaqtulūnayou killedوَتَأْسِرُونَwatasirūnaand you took captiveفَرِيقًۭاfarīqana group
And He brought down those who supported them among the People of the Scripture from their fortresses and cast terror into their hearts [so that] a party you killed, and you took captive a party

33:26
27
وَأَوْرَثَكُمْ أَرْضَهُمْ وَدِيَـٰرَهُمْ وَأَمْوَٰلَهُمْ وَأَرْضًۭا لَّمْ تَطَـُٔوهَا ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ قَدِيرًۭا
وَأَوْرَثَكُمْwa-awrathakumAnd He caused you to inheritأَرْضَهُمْarḍahumtheir landوَدِيَـٰرَهُمْwadiyārahumand their housesوَأَمْوَٰلَهُمْwa-amwālahumand their propertiesوَأَرْضًۭاwa-arḍanand a landلَّمْlamnotتَطَـُٔوهَا ۚtaṭaūhāyou (had) troddenوَكَانَwakānaAnd Allah isٱللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah isعَلَىٰʿalāonكُلِّkullieveryشَىْءٍۢshayinthingقَدِيرًۭاqadīranAll-Powerful
And He caused you to inherit their land and their homes and their properties and a land which you have not trodden. And ever is Allah, over all things, competent

33:27
28
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ قُل لِّأَزْوَٰجِكَ إِن كُنتُنَّ تُرِدْنَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَزِينَتَهَا فَتَعَالَيْنَ أُمَتِّعْكُنَّ وَأُسَرِّحْكُنَّ سَرَاحًۭا جَمِيلًۭا
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO Prophetٱلنَّبِىُّl-nabiyuO ProphetقُلqulSayلِّأَزْوَٰجِكَli-azwājikato your wivesإِنinIfكُنتُنَّkuntunnayouتُرِدْنَturid'nadesireٱلْحَيَوٰةَl-ḥayatathe lifeٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldوَزِينَتَهَاwazīnatahāand its adornmentفَتَعَالَيْنَfataʿālaynathen comeأُمَتِّعْكُنَّumattiʿ'kunnaI will provide for youوَأُسَرِّحْكُنَّwa-usarriḥ'kunnaand release youسَرَاحًۭاsarāḥan(with) a releaseجَمِيلًۭاjamīlangood
O Prophet, say to your wives, "If you should desire the worldly life and its adornment, then come, I will provide for you and give you a gracious release

29
وَإِن كُنتُنَّ تُرِدْنَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَٱلدَّارَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ أَعَدَّ لِلْمُحْسِنَـٰتِ مِنكُنَّ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًۭا
وَإِنwa-inBut ifكُنتُنَّkuntunnayouتُرِدْنَturid'nadesireٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَرَسُولَهُۥwarasūlahuand His Messengerوَٱلدَّارَwal-dāraand the Homeٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَl-ākhirata(of) the Hereafterفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahأَعَدَّaʿaddahas preparedلِلْمُحْسِنَـٰتِlil'muḥ'sinātifor the good-doersمِنكُنَّminkunnaamong youأَجْرًاajrana rewardعَظِيمًۭاʿaẓīmangreat
But if you should desire Allah and His Messenger and the home of the Hereafter - then indeed, Allah has prepared for the doers of good among you a great reward

33:29
30
يَـٰنِسَآءَ ٱلنَّبِىِّ مَن يَأْتِ مِنكُنَّ بِفَـٰحِشَةٍۢ مُّبَيِّنَةٍۢ يُضَـٰعَفْ لَهَا ٱلْعَذَابُ ضِعْفَيْنِ ۚ وَكَانَ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرًۭا
يَـٰنِسَآءَyānisāaO wivesٱلنَّبِىِّl-nabiyi(of) the ProphetمَنmanWhoeverيَأْتِyaticommitsمِنكُنَّminkunnafrom youبِفَـٰحِشَةٍۢbifāḥishatinimmoralityمُّبَيِّنَةٍۢmubayyinatinclearيُضَـٰعَفْyuḍāʿafwill be doubledلَهَاlahāfor herٱلْعَذَابُl-ʿadhābuthe punishmentضِعْفَيْنِ ۚḍiʿ'faynitwo foldوَكَانَwakānaAnd that isذَٰلِكَdhālikaAnd that isعَلَىʿalāforٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahيَسِيرًۭاyasīraneasy
O wives of the Prophet, whoever of you should commit a clear immorality - for her the punishment would be doubled two fold, and ever is that, for Allah, easy

31
۞ وَمَن يَقْنُتْ مِنكُنَّ لِلَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَتَعْمَلْ صَـٰلِحًۭا نُّؤْتِهَآ أَجْرَهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لَهَا رِزْقًۭا كَرِيمًۭا
۞ وَمَنwamanAnd whoeverيَقْنُتْyaqnutis obedientمِنكُنَّminkunnaamong youلِلَّهِlillahito Allahوَرَسُولِهِۦwarasūlihiand His Messengerوَتَعْمَلْwataʿmaland doesصَـٰلِحًۭاṣāliḥanrighteousnessنُّؤْتِهَآnu'tihāWe will give herأَجْرَهَاajrahāher rewardمَرَّتَيْنِmarrataynitwiceوَأَعْتَدْنَاwa-aʿtadnāand We have preparedلَهَاlahāfor herرِزْقًۭاriz'qana provisionكَرِيمًۭاkarīmannoble
And whoever of you devoutly obeys Allah and His Messenger and does righteousness - We will give her her reward twice; and We have prepared for her a noble provision

32
يَـٰنِسَآءَ ٱلنَّبِىِّ لَسْتُنَّ كَأَحَدٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ ۚ إِنِ ٱتَّقَيْتُنَّ فَلَا تَخْضَعْنَ بِٱلْقَوْلِ فَيَطْمَعَ ٱلَّذِى فِى قَلْبِهِۦ مَرَضٌۭ وَقُلْنَ قَوْلًۭا مَّعْرُوفًۭا
يَـٰنِسَآءَyānisāaO wivesٱلنَّبِىِّl-nabiyi(of) the ProphetلَسْتُنَّlastunnaYou are notكَأَحَدٍۢka-aḥadinlike anyoneمِّنَminaamongٱلنِّسَآءِ ۚl-nisāithe womenإِنِiniIfٱتَّقَيْتُنَّittaqaytunnayou fear (Allah)فَلَاfalāthen (do) notتَخْضَعْنَtakhḍaʿnabe softبِٱلْقَوْلِbil-qawliin speechفَيَطْمَعَfayaṭmaʿalest should be moved with desireٱلَّذِىalladhīhe whoفِىfīinقَلْبِهِۦqalbihihis heartمَرَضٌۭmaraḍun(is) a diseaseوَقُلْنَwaqul'nabut sayقَوْلًۭاqawlana wordمَّعْرُوفًۭاmaʿrūfanappropriate
O wives of the Prophet, you are not like anyone among women. If you fear Allah, then do not be soft in speech [to men], lest he in whose heart is disease should covet, but speak with appropriate speech

33
وَقَرْنَ فِى بُيُوتِكُنَّ وَلَا تَبَرَّجْنَ تَبَرُّجَ ٱلْجَـٰهِلِيَّةِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ ۖ وَأَقِمْنَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتِينَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَطِعْنَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ ۚ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنكُمُ ٱلرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ ٱلْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًۭا
وَقَرْنَwaqarnaAnd stayفِىfīinبُيُوتِكُنَّbuyūtikunnayour housesوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَبَرَّجْنَtabarrajnadisplay yourselvesتَبَرُّجَtabarruja(as was the) displayٱلْجَـٰهِلِيَّةِl-jāhiliyati(of the times of) ignoranceٱلْأُولَىٰ ۖl-ūlāthe formerوَأَقِمْنَwa-aqim'naAnd establishٱلصَّلَوٰةَl-ṣalatathe prayerوَءَاتِينَwaātīnaand giveٱلزَّكَوٰةَl-zakatazakahوَأَطِعْنَwa-aṭiʿ'naand obeyٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَرَسُولَهُۥٓ ۚwarasūlahuand His MessengerإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyيُرِيدُyurīduAllah wishesٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah wishesلِيُذْهِبَliyudh'hibato removeعَنكُمُʿankumufrom youٱلرِّجْسَl-rij'sathe impurityأَهْلَahla(O) Peopleٱلْبَيْتِl-bayti(of) the HouseوَيُطَهِّرَكُمْwayuṭahhirakumAnd to purify youتَطْهِيرًۭاtaṭhīran(with thorough) purification
And abide in your houses and do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance. And establish prayer and give zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah intends only to remove from you the impurity [of sin], O people of the [Prophet's] household, and to purify you with [extensive] purification

34
وَٱذْكُرْنَ مَا يُتْلَىٰ فِى بُيُوتِكُنَّ مِنْ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلْحِكْمَةِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ لَطِيفًا خَبِيرًا
وَٱذْكُرْنَwa-udh'kur'naAnd rememberمَاmāwhatيُتْلَىٰyut'lāis recitedفِىfīinبُيُوتِكُنَّbuyūtikunnayour housesمِنْminofءَايَـٰتِāyāti(the) Versesٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَٱلْحِكْمَةِ ۚwal-ḥik'matiand the wisdomإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisلَطِيفًاlaṭīfanAll-SubtleخَبِيرًاkhabīranAll-Aware
And remember what is recited in your houses of the verses of Allah and wisdom. Indeed, Allah is ever Subtle and Acquainted [with all things]

35
إِنَّ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ وَٱلْمُسْلِمَـٰتِ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ وَٱلْقَـٰنِتِينَ وَٱلْقَـٰنِتَـٰتِ وَٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ وَٱلصَّـٰدِقَـٰتِ وَٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ وَٱلصَّـٰبِرَٰتِ وَٱلْخَـٰشِعِينَ وَٱلْخَـٰشِعَـٰتِ وَٱلْمُتَصَدِّقِينَ وَٱلْمُتَصَدِّقَـٰتِ وَٱلصَّـٰٓئِمِينَ وَٱلصَّـٰٓئِمَـٰتِ وَٱلْحَـٰفِظِينَ فُرُوجَهُمْ وَٱلْحَـٰفِظَـٰتِ وَٱلذَّٰكِرِينَ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًۭا وَٱلذَّٰكِرَٰتِ أَعَدَّ ٱللَّهُ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةًۭ وَأَجْرًا عَظِيمًۭا
إِنَّinnaIndeedٱلْمُسْلِمِينَl-mus'limīnathe Muslim menوَٱلْمُسْلِمَـٰتِwal-mus'limātiand the Muslim womenوَٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَwal-mu'minīnaand the believing menوَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِwal-mu'minātiand the believing womenوَٱلْقَـٰنِتِينَwal-qānitīnaand the obedient menوَٱلْقَـٰنِتَـٰتِwal-qānitātiand the obedient womenوَٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَwal-ṣādiqīnaand the truthful menوَٱلصَّـٰدِقَـٰتِwal-ṣādiqātiand the truthful womenوَٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَwal-ṣābirīnaand the patient menوَٱلصَّـٰبِرَٰتِwal-ṣābirātiand the patient womenوَٱلْخَـٰشِعِينَwal-khāshiʿīnaand the humble menوَٱلْخَـٰشِعَـٰتِwal-khāshiʿātiand the humble womenوَٱلْمُتَصَدِّقِينَwal-mutaṣadiqīnaand the men who give charityوَٱلْمُتَصَدِّقَـٰتِwal-mutaṣadiqātiand the women who give charityوَٱلصَّـٰٓئِمِينَwal-ṣāimīnaand the men who fastوَٱلصَّـٰٓئِمَـٰتِwal-ṣāimātiand the women who fastوَٱلْحَـٰفِظِينَwal-ḥāfiẓīnaand the men who guardفُرُوجَهُمْfurūjahumtheir chastityوَٱلْحَـٰفِظَـٰتِwal-ḥāfiẓātiand the women who guard (it)وَٱلذَّٰكِرِينَwal-dhākirīnaand the men who rememberٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَثِيرًۭاkathīranmuchوَٱلذَّٰكِرَٰتِwal-dhākirātiand the women who rememberأَعَدَّaʿaddaAllah has preparedٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah has preparedلَهُمlahumfor themمَّغْفِرَةًۭmaghfiratanforgivenessوَأَجْرًاwa-ajranand a rewardعَظِيمًۭاʿaẓīmangreat
Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women, the obedient men and obedient women, the truthful men and truthful women, the patient men and patient women, the humble men and humble women, the charitable men and charitable women, the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their private parts and the women who do so, and the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so - for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward

33:35
36
وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍۢ وَلَا مُؤْمِنَةٍ إِذَا قَضَى ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ أَمْرًا أَن يَكُونَ لَهُمُ ٱلْخِيَرَةُ مِنْ أَمْرِهِمْ ۗ وَمَن يَعْصِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلَـٰلًۭا مُّبِينًۭا
وَمَاwamāAnd notكَانَkāna(it) isلِمُؤْمِنٍۢlimu'mininfor a believing manوَلَاwalāand notمُؤْمِنَةٍmu'minatin(for) a believing womanإِذَاidhāwhenقَضَىqaḍāAllah has decidedٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah has decidedوَرَسُولُهُۥٓwarasūluhuand His Messengerأَمْرًاamrana matterأَنanthatيَكُونَyakūna(there) should beلَهُمُlahumufor themٱلْخِيَرَةُl-khiyaratu(any) choiceمِنْminaboutأَمْرِهِمْ ۗamrihimtheir affairوَمَنwamanAnd whoeverيَعْصِyaʿṣidisobeysٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَرَسُولَهُۥwarasūlahuand His Messengerفَقَدْfaqadcertainlyضَلَّḍallahe (has) strayedضَلَـٰلًۭاḍalālan(into) errorمُّبِينًۭاmubīnanclear
It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly strayed into clear error

33:36
37
وَإِذْ تَقُولُ لِلَّذِىٓ أَنْعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَأَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْسِكْ عَلَيْكَ زَوْجَكَ وَٱتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ وَتُخْفِى فِى نَفْسِكَ مَا ٱللَّهُ مُبْدِيهِ وَتَخْشَى ٱلنَّاسَ وَٱللَّهُ أَحَقُّ أَن تَخْشَىٰهُ ۖ فَلَمَّا قَضَىٰ زَيْدٌۭ مِّنْهَا وَطَرًۭا زَوَّجْنَـٰكَهَا لِكَىْ لَا يَكُونَ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ حَرَجٌۭ فِىٓ أَزْوَٰجِ أَدْعِيَآئِهِمْ إِذَا قَضَوْا۟ مِنْهُنَّ وَطَرًۭا ۚ وَكَانَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّهِ مَفْعُولًۭا
وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenتَقُولُtaqūluyou saidلِلَّذِىٓlilladhīto the oneأَنْعَمَanʿamaAllah bestowed favorٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah bestowed favorعَلَيْهِʿalayhion himوَأَنْعَمْتَwa-anʿamtaand you bestowed favorعَلَيْهِʿalayhion himأَمْسِكْamsikKeepعَلَيْكَʿalaykato yourselfزَوْجَكَzawjakayour wifeوَٱتَّقِwa-ittaqiand fearٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَتُخْفِىwatukh'fīBut you concealedفِىfīwithinنَفْسِكَnafsikayourselfمَاmāwhatٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahمُبْدِيهِmub'dīhi(was to) discloseوَتَخْشَىwatakhshāAnd you fearٱلنَّاسَl-nāsathe peopleوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuwhile Allahأَحَقُّaḥaqquhas more rightأَنanthatتَخْشَىٰهُ ۖtakhshāhuyou (should) fear HimفَلَمَّاfalammāSo whenقَضَىٰqaḍāendedزَيْدٌۭzaydunZaidمِّنْهَاmin'hāfrom herوَطَرًۭاwaṭarannecessary (formalities)زَوَّجْنَـٰكَهَاzawwajnākahāWe married her to youلِكَىْlikayso thatلَاlānotيَكُونَyakūnathere beعَلَىʿalāonٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believersحَرَجٌۭḥarajunany discomfortفِىٓfīconcerningأَزْوَٰجِazwājithe wivesأَدْعِيَآئِهِمْadʿiyāihim(of) their adopted sonsإِذَاidhāwhenقَضَوْا۟qaḍawthey have endedمِنْهُنَّmin'hunnafrom themوَطَرًۭا ۚwaṭarannecessary (formalities)وَكَانَwakānaAnd isأَمْرُamru(the) Commandٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahمَفْعُولًۭاmafʿūlanaccomplished
And [remember, O Muhammad], when you said to the one on whom Allah bestowed favor and you bestowed favor, "Keep your wife and fear Allah," while you concealed within yourself that which Allah is to disclose. And you feared the people, while Allah has more right that you fear Him. So when Zayd had no longer any need for her, We married her to you in order that there not be upon the believers any discomfort concerning the wives of their adopted sons when they no longer have need of them. And ever is the command of Allah accomplished

38
مَّا كَانَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّ مِنْ حَرَجٍۢ فِيمَا فَرَضَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُۥ ۖ سُنَّةَ ٱللَّهِ فِى ٱلَّذِينَ خَلَوْا۟ مِن قَبْلُ ۚ وَكَانَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّهِ قَدَرًۭا مَّقْدُورًا
مَّاmāNotكَانَkāna(there can) beعَلَىʿalāuponٱلنَّبِىِّl-nabiyithe Prophetمِنْminanyحَرَجٍۢḥarajindiscomfortفِيمَاfīmāin whatفَرَضَfaraḍaAllah has imposedٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah has imposedلَهُۥ ۖlahuon himسُنَّةَsunnata(That is the) Wayٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahفِىfīconcerningٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoخَلَوْا۟khalawpassed awayمِنminbeforeقَبْلُ ۚqablubeforeوَكَانَwakānaAnd isأَمْرُamru(the) Commandٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahقَدَرًۭاqadarana decreeمَّقْدُورًاmaqdūrandestined
There is not to be upon the Prophet any discomfort concerning that which Allah has imposed upon him. [This is] the established way of Allah with those [prophets] who have passed on before. And ever is the command of Allah a destiny decreed

33:38
39
ٱلَّذِينَ يُبَلِّغُونَ رِسَـٰلَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَخْشَوْنَهُۥ وَلَا يَخْشَوْنَ أَحَدًا إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ حَسِيبًۭا
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoيُبَلِّغُونَyuballighūnaconveyرِسَـٰلَـٰتِrisālāti(the) Messagesٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَيَخْشَوْنَهُۥwayakhshawnahuand fear Himوَلَاwalāand (do) notيَخْشَوْنَyakhshawnafearأَحَدًاaḥadananyoneإِلَّاillāexceptٱللَّهَ ۗl-lahaAllahوَكَفَىٰwakafāAnd sufficient is Allahبِٱللَّهِbil-lahiAnd sufficient is Allahحَسِيبًۭاḥasīban(as) a Reckoner
[Allah praises] those who convey the messages of Allah and fear Him and do not fear anyone but Allah. And sufficient is Allah as Accountant

33:39
40
مَّا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَآ أَحَدٍۢ مِّن رِّجَالِكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن رَّسُولَ ٱللَّهِ وَخَاتَمَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمًۭا
مَّاmāNotكَانَkānaisمُحَمَّدٌmuḥammadunMuhammadأَبَآabā(the) fatherأَحَدٍۢaḥadin(of) anyoneمِّنminofرِّجَالِكُمْrijālikumyour menوَلَـٰكِنwalākinbutرَّسُولَrasūla(he is the) Messengerٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَخَاتَمَwakhātamaand Sealٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ ۗl-nabiyīna(of) the ProphetsوَكَانَwakānaAnd Allah isٱللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah isبِكُلِّbikulliof everyشَىْءٍshayinthingعَلِيمًۭاʿalīmanAll-Knower
Muhammad is not the father of [any] one of your men, but [he is] the Messenger of Allah and last of the prophets. And ever is Allah, of all things, Knowing

41
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱذْكُرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ذِكْرًۭا كَثِيرًۭا
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you who believeٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaO you who believeءَامَنُوا۟āmanūO you who believeٱذْكُرُوا۟udh'kurūRememberٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahذِكْرًۭاdhik'ran(with) remembranceكَثِيرًۭاkathīranmuch
O you who have believed, remember Allah with much remembrance

42
وَسَبِّحُوهُ بُكْرَةًۭ وَأَصِيلًا
وَسَبِّحُوهُwasabbiḥūhuAnd glorify Himبُكْرَةًۭbuk'ratanmorningوَأَصِيلًاwa-aṣīlanand evening
And exalt Him morning and afternoon

33:42
43
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُصَلِّى عَلَيْكُمْ وَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتُهُۥ لِيُخْرِجَكُم مِّنَ ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِ ۚ وَكَانَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَحِيمًۭا
هُوَhuwaHeٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Whoيُصَلِّىyuṣallīsends His blessingsعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youوَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتُهُۥwamalāikatuhuand His Angelsلِيُخْرِجَكُمliyukh'rijakumso that He may bring you outمِّنَminafromٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِl-ẓulumātithe darkness[es]إِلَىilātoٱلنُّورِ ۚl-nūrithe lightوَكَانَwakānaAnd He isبِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَbil-mu'minīnato the believersرَحِيمًۭاraḥīmanMerciful
It is He who confers blessing upon you, and His angels [ask Him to do so] that He may bring you out from darknesses into the light. And ever is He, to the believers, Merciful

44
تَحِيَّتُهُمْ يَوْمَ يَلْقَوْنَهُۥ سَلَـٰمٌۭ ۚ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ أَجْرًۭا كَرِيمًۭا
تَحِيَّتُهُمْtaḥiyyatuhumTheir greetingsيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayيَلْقَوْنَهُۥyalqawnahuthey will meet Himسَلَـٰمٌۭ ۚsalāmun(will be), "Peaceوَأَعَدَّwa-aʿaddaand He has preparedلَهُمْlahumfor themأَجْرًۭاajrana rewardكَرِيمًۭاkarīmannoble
Their greeting the Day they meet Him will be, "Peace." And He has prepared for them a noble reward

45
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ شَـٰهِدًۭا وَمُبَشِّرًۭا وَنَذِيرًۭا
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO Prophetٱلنَّبِىُّl-nabiyuO ProphetإِنَّآinnāIndeed, Weأَرْسَلْنَـٰكَarsalnākahave sent youشَـٰهِدًۭاshāhidan(as) a witnessوَمُبَشِّرًۭاwamubashiranand a bearer of glad tidingsوَنَذِيرًۭاwanadhīranand (as) a warner
O Prophet, indeed We have sent you as a witness and a bringer of good tidings and a warner

46
وَدَاعِيًا إِلَى ٱللَّهِ بِإِذْنِهِۦ وَسِرَاجًۭا مُّنِيرًۭا
وَدَاعِيًاwadāʿiyanAnd as one who invitesإِلَىilātoٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahبِإِذْنِهِۦbi-idh'nihiby His permissionوَسِرَاجًۭاwasirājanand (as) a lampمُّنِيرًۭاmunīranilluminating
And one who invites to Allah, by His permission, and an illuminating lamp

47
وَبَشِّرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ بِأَنَّ لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ فَضْلًۭا كَبِيرًۭا
وَبَشِّرِwabashiriAnd give glad tidingsٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna(to) the believersبِأَنَّbi-annathatلَهُمlahumfor themمِّنَmina(is) fromٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahفَضْلًۭاfaḍlana Bountyكَبِيرًۭاkabīrangreat
And give good tidings to the believers that they will have from Allah great bounty

33:47
48
وَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ وَٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ وَدَعْ أَذَىٰهُمْ وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَكِيلًۭا
وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتُطِعِtuṭiʿiobeyٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelieversوَٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَwal-munāfiqīnaand the hypocritesوَدَعْwadaʿand disregardأَذَىٰهُمْadhāhumtheir harmوَتَوَكَّلْwatawakkaland put your trustعَلَىʿalāinٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahiAllahوَكَفَىٰwakafāAnd sufficient is Allahبِٱللَّهِbil-lahiAnd sufficient is Allahوَكِيلًۭاwakīlan(as) a Trustee
And do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites but do not harm them, and rely upon Allah. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs

33:48
49
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا نَكَحْتُمُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ ثُمَّ طَلَّقْتُمُوهُنَّ مِن قَبْلِ أَن تَمَسُّوهُنَّ فَمَا لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِنْ عِدَّةٍۢ تَعْتَدُّونَهَا ۖ فَمَتِّعُوهُنَّ وَسَرِّحُوهُنَّ سَرَاحًۭا جَمِيلًۭا
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you who believeٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaO you who believeءَامَنُوٓا۟āmanūO you who believeإِذَاidhāWhenنَكَحْتُمُnakaḥtumuyou marryٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِl-mu'minātibelieving womenثُمَّthummaand thenطَلَّقْتُمُوهُنَّṭallaqtumūhunnadivorce themمِنminbeforeقَبْلِqablibeforeأَنan[that]تَمَسُّوهُنَّtamassūhunnayou have touched themفَمَاfamāthen notلَكُمْlakumfor youعَلَيْهِنَّʿalayhinnaon themمِنْminanyعِدَّةٍۢʿiddatinwaiting periodتَعْتَدُّونَهَا ۖtaʿtaddūnahā(to) count concerning themفَمَتِّعُوهُنَّfamattiʿūhunnaSo provide for themوَسَرِّحُوهُنَّwasarriḥūhunnaand release themسَرَاحًۭاsarāḥan(with) a releaseجَمِيلًۭاjamīlangood
O You who have believed, when you marry believing women and then divorce them before you have touched them, then there is not for you any waiting period to count concerning them. So provide for them and give them a gracious release

33:49
50
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ إِنَّآ أَحْلَلْنَا لَكَ أَزْوَٰجَكَ ٱلَّـٰتِىٓ ءَاتَيْتَ أُجُورَهُنَّ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ مِمَّآ أَفَآءَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ وَبَنَاتِ عَمِّكَ وَبَنَاتِ عَمَّـٰتِكَ وَبَنَاتِ خَالِكَ وَبَنَاتِ خَـٰلَـٰتِكَ ٱلَّـٰتِى هَاجَرْنَ مَعَكَ وَٱمْرَأَةًۭ مُّؤْمِنَةً إِن وَهَبَتْ نَفْسَهَا لِلنَّبِىِّ إِنْ أَرَادَ ٱلنَّبِىُّ أَن يَسْتَنكِحَهَا خَالِصَةًۭ لَّكَ مِن دُونِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۗ قَدْ عَلِمْنَا مَا فَرَضْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِىٓ أَزْوَٰجِهِمْ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـٰنُهُمْ لِكَيْلَا يَكُونَ عَلَيْكَ حَرَجٌۭ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًۭا رَّحِيمًۭا
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO Prophetٱلنَّبِىُّl-nabiyuO ProphetإِنَّآinnāIndeed, Weأَحْلَلْنَاaḥlalnā[We] have made lawfulلَكَlakato youأَزْوَٰجَكَazwājakayour wivesٱلَّـٰتِىٓallātī(to) whomءَاتَيْتَātaytayou have givenأُجُورَهُنَّujūrahunnatheir bridal moneyوَمَاwamāand whomمَلَكَتْmalakatyou rightfully possessيَمِينُكَyamīnukayou rightfully possessمِمَّآmimmāfrom those (whom)أَفَآءَafāaAllah has givenٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah has givenعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youوَبَنَاتِwabanātiand (the) daughtersعَمِّكَʿammika(of) your paternal unclesوَبَنَاتِwabanātiand (the) daughtersعَمَّـٰتِكَʿammātika(of) your paternal auntsوَبَنَاتِwabanātiand (the) daughtersخَالِكَkhālika(of) your maternal unclesوَبَنَاتِwabanātiand (the) daughtersخَـٰلَـٰتِكَkhālātika(of) your maternal auntsٱلَّـٰتِىallātīwhoهَاجَرْنَhājarnaemigratedمَعَكَmaʿakawith youوَٱمْرَأَةًۭwa-im'ra-atanand a womanمُّؤْمِنَةًmu'minatanbelievingإِنinifوَهَبَتْwahabatshe givesنَفْسَهَاnafsahāherselfلِلنَّبِىِّlilnnabiyyito the Prophetإِنْinifأَرَادَarādawishesٱلنَّبِىُّl-nabiyuthe Prophetأَنantoيَسْتَنكِحَهَاyastankiḥahāmarry her خَالِصَةًۭkhāliṣatanonlyلَّكَlakafor youمِنminexcludingدُونِdūniexcludingٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۗl-mu'minīnathe believersقَدْqadCertainlyعَلِمْنَاʿalim'nāWe knowمَاmāwhatفَرَضْنَاfaraḍnāWe have made obligatoryعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themفِىٓfīconcerningأَزْوَٰجِهِمْazwājihimtheir wivesوَمَاwamāand whomمَلَكَتْmalakatthey rightfully possessأَيْمَـٰنُهُمْaymānuhumthey rightfully possessلِكَيْلَاlikaylāthat notيَكُونَyakūnashould beعَلَيْكَʿalaykaon youحَرَجٌۭ ۗḥarajunany discomfortوَكَانَwakānaAnd Allah isٱللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah isغَفُورًۭاghafūranOft-ForgivingرَّحِيمًۭاraḥīmanMost Merciful
O Prophet, indeed We have made lawful to you your wives to whom you have given their due compensation and those your right hand possesses from what Allah has returned to you [of captives] and the daughters of your paternal uncles and the daughters of your paternal aunts and the daughters of your maternal uncles and the daughters of your maternal aunts who emigrated with you and a believing woman if she gives herself to the Prophet [and] if the Prophet wishes to marry her, [this is] only for you, excluding the [other] believers. We certainly know what We have made obligatory upon them concerning their wives and those their right hands possess, [but this is for you] in order that there will be upon you no discomfort. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful

۞ تُرْجِى مَن تَشَآءُ مِنْهُنَّ وَتُـْٔوِىٓ إِلَيْكَ مَن تَشَآءُ ۖ وَمَنِ ٱبْتَغَيْتَ مِمَّنْ عَزَلْتَ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ أَدْنَىٰٓ أَن تَقَرَّ أَعْيُنُهُنَّ وَلَا يَحْزَنَّ وَيَرْضَيْنَ بِمَآ ءَاتَيْتَهُنَّ كُلُّهُنَّ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِى قُلُوبِكُمْ ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَلِيمًۭا
۞ تُرْجِىtur'jīYou may deferمَنmanwhomتَشَآءُtashāuyou willمِنْهُنَّmin'hunnaof themوَتُـْٔوِىٓwatu'wīor you may takeإِلَيْكَilaykato yourselfمَنmanwhomتَشَآءُ ۖtashāuyou willوَمَنِwamaniAnd whoeverٱبْتَغَيْتَib'taghaytayou desireمِمَّنْmimmanof those whomعَزَلْتَʿazaltayou (had) set aside فَلَاfalāthen (there is) noجُنَاحَjunāḥablameعَلَيْكَ ۚʿalaykaupon youذَٰلِكَdhālikaThatأَدْنَىٰٓadnā(is) more suitableأَنanthatتَقَرَّtaqarramay be cooledأَعْيُنُهُنَّaʿyunuhunnatheir eyesوَلَاwalāand notيَحْزَنَّyaḥzannathey grieveوَيَرْضَيْنَwayarḍaynaand they may be pleasedبِمَآbimāwith whatءَاتَيْتَهُنَّātaytahunnayou have given them كُلُّهُنَّ ۚkulluhunnaall of themوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsمَاmāwhatفِىfī(is) inقُلُوبِكُمْ ۚqulūbikumyour heartsوَكَانَwakānaAnd Allah isٱللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah isعَلِيمًاʿalīmanAll-KnowerحَلِيمًۭاḥalīmanMost Forbearing
You, [O Muhammad], may put aside whom you will of them or take to yourself whom you will. And any that you desire of those [wives] from whom you had [temporarily] separated - there is no blame upon you [in returning her]. That is more suitable that they should be content and not grieve and that they should be satisfied with what you have given them - all of them. And Allah knows what is in your hearts. And ever is Allah Knowing and Forbearing

52
لَّا يَحِلُّ لَكَ ٱلنِّسَآءُ مِنۢ بَعْدُ وَلَآ أَن تَبَدَّلَ بِهِنَّ مِنْ أَزْوَٰجٍۢ وَلَوْ أَعْجَبَكَ حُسْنُهُنَّ إِلَّا مَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ رَّقِيبًۭا
لَّاlā(It is) notيَحِلُّyaḥillulawfulلَكَlakafor youٱلنِّسَآءُl-nisāu(to marry) womenمِنۢminafter (this)بَعْدُbaʿduafter (this)وَلَآwalāand notأَنantoتَبَدَّلَtabaddalaexchangeبِهِنَّbihinnathemمِنْminforأَزْوَٰجٍۢazwājin(other) wivesوَلَوْwalaweven ifأَعْجَبَكَaʿjabakapleases youحُسْنُهُنَّḥus'nuhunnatheir beautyإِلَّاillāexceptمَاmāwhomمَلَكَتْmalakatyou rightfully possessيَمِينُكَ ۗyamīnukayou rightfully possessوَكَانَwakānaAnd Allah isٱللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah isعَلَىٰʿalāoverكُلِّkulliallشَىْءٍۢshayinthingsرَّقِيبًۭاraqībanan Observer
Not lawful to you, [O Muhammad], are [any additional] women after [this], nor [is it] for you to exchange them for [other] wives, even if their beauty were to please you, except what your right hand possesses. And ever is Allah, over all things, an Observer

53
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَدْخُلُوا۟ بُيُوتَ ٱلنَّبِىِّ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤْذَنَ لَكُمْ إِلَىٰ طَعَامٍ غَيْرَ نَـٰظِرِينَ إِنَىٰهُ وَلَـٰكِنْ إِذَا دُعِيتُمْ فَٱدْخُلُوا۟ فَإِذَا طَعِمْتُمْ فَٱنتَشِرُوا۟ وَلَا مُسْتَـْٔنِسِينَ لِحَدِيثٍ ۚ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكُمْ كَانَ يُؤْذِى ٱلنَّبِىَّ فَيَسْتَحْىِۦ مِنكُمْ ۖ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَسْتَحْىِۦ مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ ۚ وَإِذَا سَأَلْتُمُوهُنَّ مَتَـٰعًۭا فَسْـَٔلُوهُنَّ مِن وَرَآءِ حِجَابٍۢ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ أَطْهَرُ لِقُلُوبِكُمْ وَقُلُوبِهِنَّ ۚ وَمَا كَانَ لَكُمْ أَن تُؤْذُوا۟ رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ وَلَآ أَن تَنكِحُوٓا۟ أَزْوَٰجَهُۥ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦٓ أَبَدًا ۚ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكُمْ كَانَ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ عَظِيمًا
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you who believeٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaO you who believeءَامَنُوا۟āmanūO you who believeلَاlā(Do) notتَدْخُلُوا۟tadkhulūenterبُيُوتَbuyūta(the) housesٱلنَّبِىِّl-nabiyi(of) the Prophetإِلَّآillāexceptأَنanwhenيُؤْذَنَyu'dhanapermission is givenلَكُمْlakumto youإِلَىٰilāforطَعَامٍṭaʿāmina mealغَيْرَghayrawithoutنَـٰظِرِينَnāẓirīnaawaitingإِنَىٰهُināhuits preparationوَلَـٰكِنْwalākinButإِذَاidhāwhenدُعِيتُمْduʿītumyou are invitedفَٱدْخُلُوا۟fa-ud'khulūthen enterفَإِذَاfa-idhāand whenطَعِمْتُمْṭaʿim'tumyou have eatenفَٱنتَشِرُوا۟fa-intashirūthen disperseوَلَاwalāand notمُسْتَـْٔنِسِينَmus'tanisīnaseeking to remainلِحَدِيثٍ ۚliḥadīthinfor a conversationإِنَّinnaIndeedذَٰلِكُمْdhālikumthatكَانَkānawasيُؤْذِىyu'dhītroublingٱلنَّبِىَّl-nabiyathe Prophetفَيَسْتَحْىِۦfayastaḥyīand he is shyمِنكُمْ ۖminkumof (dismissing) youوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuBut Allahلَاlāis not shyيَسْتَحْىِۦyastaḥyīis not shyمِنَminaofٱلْحَقِّ ۚl-ḥaqithe truthوَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenسَأَلْتُمُوهُنَّsa-altumūhunnayou ask themمَتَـٰعًۭاmatāʿan(for) anythingفَسْـَٔلُوهُنَّfasalūhunnathen ask themمِنminfromوَرَآءِwarāibehindحِجَابٍۢ ۚḥijābina screenذَٰلِكُمْdhālikumThatأَطْهَرُaṭharu(is) purerلِقُلُوبِكُمْliqulūbikumfor your heartsوَقُلُوبِهِنَّ ۚwaqulūbihinnaand their heartsوَمَاwamāAnd notكَانَkānaisلَكُمْlakumfor youأَنanthatتُؤْذُوا۟tu'dhūyou troubleرَسُولَrasūla(the) Messengerٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَلَآwalāand notأَنanthatتَنكِحُوٓا۟tankiḥūyou should marryأَزْوَٰجَهُۥazwājahuhis wivesمِنۢminafter himبَعْدِهِۦٓbaʿdihiafter himأَبَدًا ۚabadaneverإِنَّinnaIndeedذَٰلِكُمْdhālikumthatكَانَkānaisعِندَʿindanearٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmanan enormity
O you who have believed, do not enter the houses of the Prophet except when you are permitted for a meal, without awaiting its readiness. But when you are invited, then enter; and when you have eaten, disperse without seeking to remain for conversation. Indeed, that [behavior] was troubling the Prophet, and he is shy of [dismissing] you. But Allah is not shy of the truth. And when you ask [his wives] for something, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts. And it is not [conceivable or lawful] for you to harm the Messenger of Allah or to marry his wives after him, ever. Indeed, that would be in the sight of Allah an enormity

إِن تُبْدُوا۟ شَيْـًٔا أَوْ تُخْفُوهُ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمًۭا
إِنinWhetherتُبْدُوا۟tub'dūyou revealشَيْـًٔاshayana thingأَوْaworتُخْفُوهُtukh'fūhuconceal itفَإِنَّfa-innaindeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisبِكُلِّbikulliof allشَىْءٍshayinthingsعَلِيمًۭاʿalīmanAll-Knower
Whether you reveal a thing or conceal it, indeed Allah is ever, of all things, Knowing

55
لَّا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِنَّ فِىٓ ءَابَآئِهِنَّ وَلَآ أَبْنَآئِهِنَّ وَلَآ إِخْوَٰنِهِنَّ وَلَآ أَبْنَآءِ إِخْوَٰنِهِنَّ وَلَآ أَبْنَآءِ أَخَوَٰتِهِنَّ وَلَا نِسَآئِهِنَّ وَلَا مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـٰنُهُنَّ ۗ وَٱتَّقِينَ ٱللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ شَهِيدًا
لَّاlā(There is) noجُنَاحَjunāḥablameعَلَيْهِنَّʿalayhinnaupon themفِىٓfīconcerningءَابَآئِهِنَّābāihinnatheir fathersوَلَآwalāand notأَبْنَآئِهِنَّabnāihinnatheir sonsوَلَآwalāand notإِخْوَٰنِهِنَّikh'wānihinnatheir brothersوَلَآwalāand notأَبْنَآءِabnāisonsإِخْوَٰنِهِنَّikh'wānihinna(of) their brothersوَلَآwalāand notأَبْنَآءِabnāisonsأَخَوَٰتِهِنَّakhawātihinna(of) their sistersوَلَاwalāand notنِسَآئِهِنَّnisāihinnatheir womenوَلَاwalāand notمَاmāwhatمَلَكَتْmalakatthey rightfully possessأَيْمَـٰنُهُنَّ ۗaymānuhunnathey rightfully possessوَٱتَّقِينَwa-ittaqīnaAnd fearٱللَّهَ ۚl-lahaAllahإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisعَلَىٰʿalāoverكُلِّkulliallشَىْءٍۢshayinthingsشَهِيدًاshahīdana Witness
There is no blame upon women concerning their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their brothers' sons or their sisters' sons or their women or those their right hands possess. And fear Allah. Indeed Allah is ever, over all things, Witness

56
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتَهُۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّ ۚ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ صَلُّوا۟ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا۟ تَسْلِيمًا
إِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتَهُۥwamalāikatahuand His Angelsيُصَلُّونَyuṣallūnasend blessingsعَلَىʿalāuponٱلنَّبِىِّ ۚl-nabiyithe ProphetيَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you who believeٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaO you who believeءَامَنُوا۟āmanūO you who believeصَلُّوا۟ṣallūSend blessingsعَلَيْهِʿalayhion himوَسَلِّمُوا۟wasallimūand greet himتَسْلِيمًاtaslīman(with) greetings
Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace

57
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْذُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ لَعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًۭا مُّهِينًۭا
إِنَّinnaIndeedٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيُؤْذُونَyu'dhūnaannoyٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَرَسُولَهُۥwarasūlahuand His MessengerلَعَنَهُمُlaʿanahumuAllah has cursed themٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah has cursed themفِىfīinٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe worldوَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِwal-ākhiratiand the Hereafterوَأَعَدَّwa-aʿaddaand preparedلَهُمْlahumfor themعَذَابًۭاʿadhābana punishmentمُّهِينًۭاmuhīnanhumiliating
Indeed, those who abuse Allah and His Messenger - Allah has cursed them in this world and the Hereafter and prepared for them a humiliating punishment

58
وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْذُونَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ بِغَيْرِ مَا ٱكْتَسَبُوا۟ فَقَدِ ٱحْتَمَلُوا۟ بُهْتَـٰنًۭا وَإِثْمًۭا مُّبِينًۭا
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoيُؤْذُونَyu'dhūnaharmٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believing menوَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِwal-mu'minātiand the believing womenبِغَيْرِbighayrifor other thanمَاmāwhatٱكْتَسَبُوا۟ik'tasabūthey have earnedفَقَدِfaqadithen certainlyٱحْتَمَلُوا۟iḥ'tamalūthey bearبُهْتَـٰنًۭاbuh'tānanfalse accusationوَإِثْمًۭاwa-ith'manand sinمُّبِينًۭاmubīnanmanifest
And those who harm believing men and believing women for [something] other than what they have earned have certainly born upon themselves a slander and manifest sin

59
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ قُل لِّأَزْوَٰجِكَ وَبَنَاتِكَ وَنِسَآءِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يُدْنِينَ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِن جَلَـٰبِيبِهِنَّ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ أَدْنَىٰٓ أَن يُعْرَفْنَ فَلَا يُؤْذَيْنَ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًۭا رَّحِيمًۭا
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO Prophetٱلنَّبِىُّl-nabiyuO ProphetقُلqulSayلِّأَزْوَٰجِكَli-azwājikato your wivesوَبَنَاتِكَwabanātikaand your daughtersوَنِسَآءِwanisāiand (the) womenٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna(of) the believersيُدْنِينَyud'nīnato drawعَلَيْهِنَّʿalayhinnaover themselvesمِنmin[of]جَلَـٰبِيبِهِنَّ ۚjalābībihinnatheir outer garmentsذَٰلِكَdhālikaThatأَدْنَىٰٓadnā(is) more suitableأَنanthatيُعْرَفْنَyuʿ'rafnathey should be knownفَلَاfalāand notيُؤْذَيْنَ ۗyu'dhaynaharmedوَكَانَwakānaAnd isٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahغَفُورًۭاghafūranOft-ForgivingرَّحِيمًۭاraḥīmanMost Merciful
O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful

60
۞ لَّئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌۭ وَٱلْمُرْجِفُونَ فِى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ لَنُغْرِيَنَّكَ بِهِمْ ثُمَّ لَا يُجَاوِرُونَكَ فِيهَآ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا
۞ لَّئِنla-inIfلَّمْlam(do) notيَنتَهِyantahiceaseٱلْمُنَـٰفِقُونَl-munāfiqūnathe hypocritesوَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoفِىfīinقُلُوبِهِمqulūbihimtheir heartsمَّرَضٌۭmaraḍun(is) a diseaseوَٱلْمُرْجِفُونَwal-mur'jifūnaand those who spread rumorsفِىfīinٱلْمَدِينَةِl-madīnatithe cityلَنُغْرِيَنَّكَlanugh'riyannakaWe will let you overpower themبِهِمْbihimWe will let you overpower themثُمَّthummathenلَاlānotيُجَاوِرُونَكَyujāwirūnakathey will remain your neighborsفِيهَآfīhāthereinإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلًۭاqalīlan(for) a little
If the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is disease and those who spread rumors in al-Madinah do not cease, We will surely incite you against them; then they will not remain your neighbors therein except for a little

61
مَّلْعُونِينَ ۖ أَيْنَمَا ثُقِفُوٓا۟ أُخِذُوا۟ وَقُتِّلُوا۟ تَقْتِيلًۭا
مَّلْعُونِينَ ۖmalʿūnīnaAccursedأَيْنَمَاaynamāwhereverثُقِفُوٓا۟thuqifūthey are foundأُخِذُوا۟ukhidhūthey are seizedوَقُتِّلُوا۟waquttilūand massacred completelyتَقْتِيلًۭاtaqtīlanand massacred completely
Accursed wherever they are found, [being] seized and massacred completely

62
سُنَّةَ ٱللَّهِ فِى ٱلَّذِينَ خَلَوْا۟ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ وَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّةِ ٱللَّهِ تَبْدِيلًۭا
سُنَّةَsunnata(Such is the) Wayٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahفِىfīwithٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoخَلَوْا۟khalawpassed awayمِنminbeforeقَبْلُ ۖqablubeforeوَلَنwalanand neverتَجِدَtajidayou will findلِسُنَّةِlisunnatiin (the) Wayٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahتَبْدِيلًۭاtabdīlanany change
[This is] the established way of Allah with those who passed on before; and you will not find in the way of Allah any change

63
يَسْـَٔلُكَ ٱلنَّاسُ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ ۖ قُلْ إِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ تَكُونُ قَرِيبًا
يَسْـَٔلُكَyasalukaAsk youٱلنَّاسُl-nāsuthe peopleعَنِʿaniaboutٱلسَّاعَةِ ۖl-sāʿatithe HourقُلْqulSayإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyعِلْمُهَاʿil'muhāits knowledgeعِندَʿinda(is) withٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahiAllahوَمَاwamāAnd whatيُدْرِيكَyud'rīkawill make you knowلَعَلَّlaʿallaPerhapsٱلسَّاعَةَl-sāʿatathe Hourتَكُونُtakūnuisقَرِيبًاqarībannear
People ask you concerning the Hour. Say," Knowledge of it is only with Allah. And what may make you perceive? Perhaps the Hour is near

64
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَعَنَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ سَعِيرًا
إِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَعَنَlaʿanahas cursedٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelieversوَأَعَدَّwa-aʿaddaand has preparedلَهُمْlahumfor themسَعِيرًاsaʿīrana Blaze
Indeed, Allah has cursed the disbelievers and prepared for them a Blaze

65
خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًۭا ۖ لَّا يَجِدُونَ وَلِيًّۭا وَلَا نَصِيرًۭا
خَـٰلِدِينَkhālidīnaAbidingفِيهَآfīhāthereinأَبَدًۭا ۖabadanforeverلَّاlānotيَجِدُونَyajidūnathey will findوَلِيًّۭاwaliyyanany protectorوَلَاwalāand notنَصِيرًۭاnaṣīranany helper
Abiding therein forever, they will not find a protector or a helper

66
يَوْمَ تُقَلَّبُ وُجُوهُهُمْ فِى ٱلنَّارِ يَقُولُونَ يَـٰلَيْتَنَآ أَطَعْنَا ٱللَّهَ وَأَطَعْنَا ٱلرَّسُولَا۠
يَوْمَyawma(The) Dayتُقَلَّبُtuqallabuwill be turned aboutوُجُوهُهُمْwujūhuhumtheir facesفِىfīinٱلنَّارِl-nārithe Fireيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnathey will sayيَـٰلَيْتَنَآyālaytanāO we wishأَطَعْنَاaṭaʿnāwe (had) obeyedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَأَطَعْنَاwa-aṭaʿnāand obeyedٱلرَّسُولَا۠l-rasūlāthe Messenger
The Day their faces will be turned about in the Fire, they will say, "How we wish we had obeyed Allah and obeyed the Messenger

67
وَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَآ إِنَّآ أَطَعْنَا سَادَتَنَا وَكُبَرَآءَنَا فَأَضَلُّونَا ٱلسَّبِيلَا۠
وَقَالُوا۟waqālūAnd they will sayرَبَّنَآrabbanāOur LordإِنَّآinnāIndeed, weأَطَعْنَاaṭaʿnā[we] obeyedسَادَتَنَاsādatanāour chiefsوَكُبَرَآءَنَاwakubarāanāand our great menفَأَضَلُّونَاfa-aḍallūnāand they misled usٱلسَّبِيلَا۠l-sabīlā(from) the Way
And they will say, "Our Lord, indeed we obeyed our masters and our dignitaries, and they led us astray from the [right] way

68
رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِهِمْ ضِعْفَيْنِ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ وَٱلْعَنْهُمْ لَعْنًۭا كَبِيرًۭا
رَبَّنَآrabbanāOur LordءَاتِهِمْātihimGive themضِعْفَيْنِḍiʿ'faynidoubleمِنَmina[of]ٱلْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābipunishmentوَٱلْعَنْهُمْwal-ʿanhumand curse themلَعْنًۭاlaʿnan(with) a curseكَبِيرًۭاkabīrangreat
Our Lord, give them double the punishment and curse them with a great curse

69
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ ءَاذَوْا۟ مُوسَىٰ فَبَرَّأَهُ ٱللَّهُ مِمَّا قَالُوا۟ ۚ وَكَانَ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَجِيهًۭا
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you who believeٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaO you who believeءَامَنُوا۟āmanūO you who believeلَاlā(Do) notتَكُونُوا۟takūnūbeكَٱلَّذِينَka-alladhīnalike those whoءَاذَوْا۟ādhawabusedمُوسَىٰmūsāMusaفَبَرَّأَهُfabarra-ahuthen Allah cleared himٱللَّهُl-lahuthen Allah cleared himمِمَّاmimmāof whatقَالُوا۟ ۚqālūthey saidوَكَانَwakānaAnd he wasعِندَʿindanearٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَجِيهًۭاwajīhanhonorable
O you who have believed, be not like those who abused Moses; then Allah cleared him of what they said. And he, in the sight of Allah, was distinguished

70
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَقُولُوا۟ قَوْلًۭا سَدِيدًۭا
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you who believeٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaO you who believeءَامَنُوا۟āmanūO you who believeٱتَّقُوا۟ittaqūFearٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَقُولُوا۟waqūlūand speakقَوْلًۭاqawlana wordسَدِيدًۭاsadīdanright
O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice

33:70
71
يُصْلِحْ لَكُمْ أَعْمَـٰلَكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ ۗ وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَقَدْ فَازَ فَوْزًا عَظِيمًا
يُصْلِحْyuṣ'liḥHe will amendلَكُمْlakumfor youأَعْمَـٰلَكُمْaʿmālakumyour deedsوَيَغْفِرْwayaghfirand forgiveلَكُمْlakumfor youذُنُوبَكُمْ ۗdhunūbakumyour sinsوَمَنwamanAnd whoeverيُطِعِyuṭiʿiobeysٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَرَسُولَهُۥwarasūlahuand His Messengerفَقَدْfaqadcertainlyفَازَfāzahas attainedفَوْزًاfawzanan attainmentعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmangreat
He will [then] amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great attainment

33:71
72
إِنَّا عَرَضْنَا ٱلْأَمَانَةَ عَلَى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱلْجِبَالِ فَأَبَيْنَ أَن يَحْمِلْنَهَا وَأَشْفَقْنَ مِنْهَا وَحَمَلَهَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ ظَلُومًۭا جَهُولًۭا
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, Weعَرَضْنَاʿaraḍnā[We] offeredٱلْأَمَانَةَl-amānatathe Trustعَلَىʿalātoٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَٱلْجِبَالِwal-jibāliand the mountainsفَأَبَيْنَfa-abaynabut they refusedأَنantoيَحْمِلْنَهَاyaḥmil'nahābear itوَأَشْفَقْنَwa-ashfaqnaand they fearedمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itوَحَمَلَهَاwaḥamalahābut bore itٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ ۖl-insānuthe manإِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, heكَانَkānawasظَلُومًۭاẓalūmanunjustجَهُولًۭاjahūlanignorant
Indeed, we offered the Trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, and they declined to bear it and feared it; but man [undertook to] bear it. Indeed, he was unjust and ignorant

73
لِّيُعَذِّبَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ وَٱلْمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتِ وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ وَٱلْمُشْرِكَـٰتِ وَيَتُوبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًۭا رَّحِيمًۢا
لِّيُعَذِّبَliyuʿadhibaSo that Allah may punishٱللَّهُl-lahuSo that Allah may punishٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَl-munāfiqīnathe hypocrite menوَٱلْمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتِwal-munāfiqātiand the hypocrite womenوَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَwal-mush'rikīnaand the polytheist menوَٱلْمُشْرِكَـٰتِwal-mush'rikātiand the polytheist womenوَيَتُوبَwayatūbaand Allah will turn (in Mercy)ٱللَّهُl-lahuand Allah will turn (in Mercy)عَلَىʿalātoٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believing menوَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ ۗwal-mu'minātiand the believing womenوَكَانَwakānaAnd Allah isٱللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah isغَفُورًۭاghafūranOft-ForgivingرَّحِيمًۢاraḥīmanMost Merciful
[It was] so that Allah may punish the hypocrite men and hypocrite women and the men and women who associate others with Him and that Allah may accept repentance from the believing men and believing women. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful
