How this works

Allah says prayer is prescribed for the believers at fixed times (Qur'an 4:103). The Prophet ﷺ taught those times when Jibril led him in prayer on two days (Sunan Abi Dawud 393, Jami at-Tirmidhi 149) and in his own words (Sahih Muslim 612). Fajr begins at true dawn and Sunrise ends it. Dhuhr begins after the sun passes its highest point. Asr begins when a shadow reaches its set length. Maghrib begins at sunset. Isha begins when the red or white twilight has gone.

Your browser works out the sun's position for your coordinates and applies the twilight angles of your method. The same code and the same method names power the pages under Prayer times, so a timetable made here matches the city page for the same place, method and Asr. We tested London and New York against those pages.

Calculation methods

Schools and authorities choose different twilight angles for Fajr and Isha. They are all accepted conventions. Use the one your community follows.

Asr

The Hanafi school sets Asr at a shadow of twice the object's length. The other three schools use one length. The tool shows the choice you make and changes only the Asr column.

Jumuah

Jumuah replaces Dhuhr on Friday (Qur'an 62:9). Fridays are highlighted in gold. The Jumuah column shows the time you enter, or Dhuhr begins if you leave it empty.

Begins times and jamaat times

A begins time is when the prayer time enters. A jamaat time is when the mosque prays together. Mosques set jamaat times, often a fixed number of minutes after begins, and often change them with the seasons. This tool lets you set the offset, and you can edit the printed sheet or the CSV where your mosque uses fixed times.

Limits

Times are calculated, not observed. They can differ from a local mosque by a few minutes because of method, rounding and caution minutes. In places above about 48 degrees of latitude, Fajr and Isha need a high-latitude rule in summer. Use a rule your local scholars follow.

Frequently asked questions

Is the prayer timetable maker free?

Yes. It is free, has no sign-up, and runs in your browser. You can print as many sheets as you need, for a home, a school or a mosque.

How are the prayer times calculated?

The page uses the same open calculation library as the Niyat city pages. It finds the sun's position for your latitude and longitude, then applies the twilight angles of the method you choose. Begins times are astronomical calculations, not sightings.

Which calculation method should I choose?

Choose the method your local mosque or community uses. If you do not know, keep the preset for your country. The Muslim World League and ISNA are the most common in the West. Asking the mosque is the best way to avoid two timetables in one town.

What is the difference between standard and Hanafi Asr?

Standard Asr (Shafi'i, Maliki and Hanbali) begins when an object's shadow equals its length. Hanafi Asr begins when the shadow equals twice its length. This usually makes Hanafi Asr 30 to 60 minutes later, depending on place and season.

How do jamaat times work?

Jamaat is the congregation time, set by the mosque. Enter how many minutes after the begins time the mosque prays. The sheet adds a Jamaat column for each prayer you fill in. Tick the round box to move each jamaat time up to the next 5 minutes.

Can I share the timetable with my congregation?

Yes. Press Copy link. The link holds every setting, so anyone who opens it sees the same sheet. If you used your device location, the link holds rounded coordinates, so pick a city first when you share publicly.
