Surah 21 of 114 · Makki
سُورَةُ الأَنبِيَاءِ
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
1
ٱقْتَرَبَ لِلنَّاسِ حِسَابُهُمْ وَهُمْ فِى غَفْلَةٍۢ مُّعْرِضُونَ
ٱقْتَرَبَiq'taraba(Has) approachedلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor [the] mankindحِسَابُهُمْḥisābuhumtheir accountوَهُمْwahumwhile theyفِىfī(are) inغَفْلَةٍۢghaflatinheedlessnessمُّعْرِضُونَmuʿ'riḍūnaturning away
[The time of] their account has approached for the people, while they are in heedlessness turning away

2
مَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍۢ مِّن رَّبِّهِم مُّحْدَثٍ إِلَّا ٱسْتَمَعُوهُ وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ
مَاmāNotيَأْتِيهِمyatīhimcomes to themمِّنminofذِكْرٍۢdhik'rina Reminderمِّنminfromرَّبِّهِمrabbihimtheir Lordمُّحْدَثٍmuḥ'dathinanewإِلَّاillāexceptٱسْتَمَعُوهُis'tamaʿūhuthey listen to itوَهُمْwahumwhile theyيَلْعَبُونَyalʿabūna(are at) play
No mention comes to them anew from their Lord except that they listen to it while they are at play

3
لَاهِيَةًۭ قُلُوبُهُمْ ۗ وَأَسَرُّوا۟ ٱلنَّجْوَى ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ هَلْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا بَشَرٌۭ مِّثْلُكُمْ ۖ أَفَتَأْتُونَ ٱلسِّحْرَ وَأَنتُمْ تُبْصِرُونَ
لَاهِيَةًۭlāhiyatanDistractedقُلُوبُهُمْ ۗqulūbuhumtheir heartsوَأَسَرُّوا۟wa-asarrūAnd they concealٱلنَّجْوَىl-najwāthe private conversationٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoظَلَمُوا۟ẓalamū[they] wrongedهَلْhalIsهَـٰذَآhādhāthisإِلَّاillāexceptبَشَرٌۭbasharuna human beingمِّثْلُكُمْ ۖmith'lukumlike youأَفَتَأْتُونَafatatūnaSo would you approachٱلسِّحْرَl-siḥ'rathe magicوَأَنتُمْwa-antumwhile youتُبْصِرُونَtub'ṣirūnasee (it)
With their hearts distracted. And those who do wrong conceal their private conversation, [saying], "Is this [Prophet] except a human being like you? So would you approach magic while you are aware [of it]

21:3
4
قَالَ رَبِّى يَعْلَمُ ٱلْقَوْلَ فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ
قَالَqālaHe saidرَبِّىrabbīMy Lordيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsٱلْقَوْلَl-qawlathe wordفِىfīinٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖwal-arḍiand the earthوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heٱلسَّمِيعُl-samīʿu(is) the All-Hearerٱلْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuthe All-Knower
The Prophet said, "My Lord knows whatever is said throughout the heaven and earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing

21:4
5
بَلْ قَالُوٓا۟ أَضْغَـٰثُ أَحْلَـٰمٍۭ بَلِ ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ بَلْ هُوَ شَاعِرٌۭ فَلْيَأْتِنَا بِـَٔايَةٍۢ كَمَآ أُرْسِلَ ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
بَلْbalNayقَالُوٓا۟qālūthey sayأَضْغَـٰثُaḍghāthuMuddledأَحْلَـٰمٍۭaḥlāmindreamsبَلِbalinayٱفْتَرَىٰهُif'tarāhuhe (has) invented itبَلْbalnayهُوَhuwaheشَاعِرٌۭshāʿirun(is) a poetفَلْيَأْتِنَاfalyatināSo let him bring usبِـَٔايَةٍۢbiāyatina signكَمَآkamālike whatأُرْسِلَur'silawas sentٱلْأَوَّلُونَl-awalūna(to) the former
But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]

21:5
6
مَآ ءَامَنَتْ قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَـٰهَآ ۖ أَفَهُمْ يُؤْمِنُونَ
مَآmāNotءَامَنَتْāmanatbelievedقَبْلَهُمqablahumbefore themمِّنminanyقَرْيَةٍqaryatintownأَهْلَكْنَـٰهَآ ۖahlaknāhāwhich We destroyedأَفَهُمْafahumso will theyيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe

21:6
7
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًۭا نُّوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِمْ ۖ فَسْـَٔلُوٓا۟ أَهْلَ ٱلذِّكْرِ إِن كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
وَمَآwamāAnd notأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sentقَبْلَكَqablakabefore youإِلَّاillāexceptرِجَالًۭاrijālanmenنُّوحِىٓnūḥīWe revealedإِلَيْهِمْ ۖilayhimto themفَسْـَٔلُوٓا۟fasalūSo askأَهْلَahla(the) peopleٱلذِّكْرِl-dhik'ri(of) the Reminderإِنinifكُنتُمْkuntumyouلَاlā(do) notتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnaknow
And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know

21:7
8
وَمَا جَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ جَسَدًۭا لَّا يَأْكُلُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ خَـٰلِدِينَ
وَمَاwamāAnd notجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْjaʿalnāhumWe made themجَسَدًۭاjasadanbodiesلَّاlānotيَأْكُلُونَyakulūnaeatingٱلطَّعَامَl-ṭaʿāmathe foodوَمَاwamāand notكَانُوا۟kānūthey wereخَـٰلِدِينَkhālidīnaimmortals
And We did not make the prophets forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth]

21:8
9
ثُمَّ صَدَقْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْوَعْدَ فَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُمْ وَمَن نَّشَآءُ وَأَهْلَكْنَا ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ
ثُمَّthummaThenصَدَقْنَـٰهُمُṣadaqnāhumuWe fulfilled (for) themٱلْوَعْدَl-waʿdathe promiseفَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُمْfa-anjaynāhumand We saved themوَمَنwamanand whomنَّشَآءُnashāuWe willedوَأَهْلَكْنَاwa-ahlaknāand We destroyedٱلْمُسْرِفِينَl-mus'rifīnathe transgressors
Then We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and destroyed the transgressors

21:9
10
لَقَدْ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ كِتَـٰبًۭا فِيهِ ذِكْرُكُمْ ۖ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
لَقَدْlaqadIndeedأَنزَلْنَآanzalnāWe (have) sent downإِلَيْكُمْilaykumto youكِتَـٰبًۭاkitābana Bookفِيهِfīhiin itذِكْرُكُمْ ۖdhik'rukum(is) your mentionأَفَلَاafalāThen will notتَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūnayou use reason
We have certainly sent down to you a Book in which is your mention. Then will you not reason

21:10
11
وَكَمْ قَصَمْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍۢ كَانَتْ ظَالِمَةًۭ وَأَنشَأْنَا بَعْدَهَا قَوْمًا ءَاخَرِينَ
وَكَمْwakamAnd how manyقَصَمْنَاqaṣamnāWe (have) shatteredمِنminofقَرْيَةٍۢqaryatina townكَانَتْkānat(that) wasظَالِمَةًۭẓālimatanunjustوَأَنشَأْنَاwa-anshanāand We producedبَعْدَهَاbaʿdahāafter themقَوْمًاqawmananother peopleءَاخَرِينَākharīnaanother people
And how many a city which was unjust have We shattered and produced after it another people

21:11
12
فَلَمَّآ أَحَسُّوا۟ بَأْسَنَآ إِذَا هُم مِّنْهَا يَرْكُضُونَ
فَلَمَّآfalammāThen whenأَحَسُّوا۟aḥassūthey perceivedبَأْسَنَآbasanāOur tormentإِذَاidhābeholdهُمhumtheyمِّنْهَاmin'hāfrom itيَرْكُضُونَyarkuḍūnawere fleeing
And when its inhabitants perceived Our punishment, at once they fled from it

21:12
13
لَا تَرْكُضُوا۟ وَٱرْجِعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَآ أُتْرِفْتُمْ فِيهِ وَمَسَـٰكِنِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُسْـَٔلُونَ
لَاlāFlee notتَرْكُضُوا۟tarkuḍūFlee notوَٱرْجِعُوٓا۟wa-ir'jiʿūbut returnإِلَىٰilātoمَآmāwhatأُتْرِفْتُمْut'rif'tumyou were given luxuryفِيهِfīhiin itوَمَسَـٰكِنِكُمْwamasākinikumand to your homesلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتُسْـَٔلُونَtus'alūnabe questioned
[Some angels said], "Do not flee but return to where you were given luxury and to your homes - perhaps you will be questioned

21:13
14
قَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ
قَالُوا۟qālūThey saidيَـٰوَيْلَنَآyāwaylanāO woe to usإِنَّاinnāIndeed, [we]كُنَّاkunnāwe wereظَـٰلِمِينَẓālimīnawrongdoers
They said, "O woe to us! Indeed, we were wrongdoers

21:14
15
فَمَا زَالَت تِّلْكَ دَعْوَىٰهُمْ حَتَّىٰ جَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ حَصِيدًا خَـٰمِدِينَ
فَمَاfamāThen notزَالَتzālatceasedتِّلْكَtil'ka[this]دَعْوَىٰهُمْdaʿwāhumtheir cryحَتَّىٰḥattāuntilجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْjaʿalnāhumWe made themحَصِيدًاḥaṣīdanreapedخَـٰمِدِينَkhāmidīnaextinct
And that declaration of theirs did not cease until We made them [as] a harvest [mowed down], extinguished [like a fire]

21:15
16
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَـٰعِبِينَ
وَمَاwamāAnd notخَلَقْنَاkhalaqnāWe createdٱلسَّمَآءَl-samāathe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earthوَمَاwamāand whatبَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumā(is) between themلَـٰعِبِينَlāʿibīna(for) playing
And We did not create the heaven and earth and that between them in play

21:16
17
لَوْ أَرَدْنَآ أَن نَّتَّخِذَ لَهْوًۭا لَّٱتَّخَذْنَـٰهُ مِن لَّدُنَّآ إِن كُنَّا فَـٰعِلِينَ
لَوْlawIfأَرَدْنَآaradnāWe intendedأَنanthatنَّتَّخِذَnattakhidhaWe takeلَهْوًۭاlahwana pastimeلَّٱتَّخَذْنَـٰهُla-ittakhadhnāhusurely We (could have) taken itمِنminfromلَّدُنَّآladunnāUsإِنinifكُنَّاkunnāWe wereفَـٰعِلِينَfāʿilīnadoers
Had We intended to take a diversion, We could have taken it from [what is] with Us - if [indeed] We were to do so

21:17
18
بَلْ نَقْذِفُ بِٱلْحَقِّ عَلَى ٱلْبَـٰطِلِ فَيَدْمَغُهُۥ فَإِذَا هُوَ زَاهِقٌۭ ۚ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْوَيْلُ مِمَّا تَصِفُونَ
بَلْbalNayنَقْذِفُnaqdhifuWe hurlبِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqithe truthعَلَىʿalāagainstٱلْبَـٰطِلِl-bāṭili[the] falsehoodفَيَدْمَغُهُۥfayadmaghuhuand it breaks its headفَإِذَاfa-idhābeholdهُوَhuwait (is)زَاهِقٌۭ ۚzāhiqunvanishingوَلَكُمُwalakumuAnd for youٱلْوَيْلُl-waylu(is) destructionمِمَّاmimmāfor whatتَصِفُونَtaṣifūnayou ascribe
Rather, We dash the truth upon falsehood, and it destroys it, and thereupon it departs. And for you is destruction from that which you describe

21:18
19
وَلَهُۥ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَمَنْ عِندَهُۥ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِهِۦ وَلَا يَسْتَحْسِرُونَ
وَلَهُۥwalahuAnd to Him (belongs)مَنmanwhoeverفِىfī(is) inٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚwal-arḍiand the earthوَمَنْwamanAnd (those) whoعِندَهُۥʿindahu(are) near Himلَاlānotيَسْتَكْبِرُونَyastakbirūnathey are arrogantعَنْʿantoعِبَادَتِهِۦʿibādatihiworship Himوَلَاwalāand notيَسْتَحْسِرُونَyastaḥsirūnathey tire
To Him belongs whoever is in the heavens and the earth. And those near Him are not prevented by arrogance from His worship, nor do they tire

21:19
20
يُسَبِّحُونَ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ لَا يَفْتُرُونَ
يُسَبِّحُونَyusabbiḥūnaThey glorify (Him)ٱلَّيْلَal-layla[the] nightوَٱلنَّهَارَwal-nahāraand [the] dayلَاlānotيَفْتُرُونَyafturūnathey slacken
They exalt [Him] night and day [and] do not slacken

21:20
21
أَمِ ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَةًۭ مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ هُمْ يُنشِرُونَ
أَمِamiOrٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ittakhadhū(have) they takenءَالِهَةًۭālihatangodsمِّنَminafromٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthهُمْhumtheyيُنشِرُونَyunshirūnaraise (the dead)
Or have men taken for themselves gods from the earth who resurrect [the dead]

21:21
22
لَوْ كَانَ فِيهِمَآ ءَالِهَةٌ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ لَفَسَدَتَا ۚ فَسُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَرْشِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
لَوْlawIfكَانَkāna(there) wereفِيهِمَآfīhimāin both of themءَالِهَةٌālihatungodsإِلَّاillābesidesٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahلَفَسَدَتَا ۚlafasadatāsurely they (would) have been ruinedفَسُبْحَـٰنَfasub'ḥānaSo glorifiedٱللَّهِl-lahi(is) AllahرَبِّrabbiLordٱلْعَرْشِl-ʿarshi(of) the Throneعَمَّاʿammā(above) whatيَصِفُونَyaṣifūnathey attribute
Had there been within the heavens and earth gods besides Allah, they both would have been ruined. So exalted is Allah, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe

21:22
23
لَا يُسْـَٔلُ عَمَّا يَفْعَلُ وَهُمْ يُسْـَٔلُونَ
لَاlāNotيُسْـَٔلُyus'aluHe (can) be questionedعَمَّاʿammāabout whatيَفْعَلُyafʿaluHe doesوَهُمْwahumbut theyيُسْـَٔلُونَyus'alūnawill be questioned
He is not questioned about what He does, but they will be questioned

21:23
24
أَمِ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ ءَالِهَةًۭ ۖ قُلْ هَاتُوا۟ بُرْهَـٰنَكُمْ ۖ هَـٰذَا ذِكْرُ مَن مَّعِىَ وَذِكْرُ مَن قَبْلِى ۗ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ٱلْحَقَّ ۖ فَهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ
أَمِamiOrٱتَّخَذُوا۟ittakhadhū(have) they takenمِنminbesides Himدُونِهِۦٓdūnihibesides Himءَالِهَةًۭ ۖālihatangodsقُلْqulSayهَاتُوا۟hātūBringبُرْهَـٰنَكُمْ ۖbur'hānakumyour proofهَـٰذَاhādhāThisذِكْرُdhik'ru(is) a Reminderمَنman(for those) whoمَّعِىَmaʿiya(are) with meوَذِكْرُwadhik'ruand a Reminderمَنman(for those) whoقَبْلِى ۗqablī(were) before meبَلْbalButأَكْثَرُهُمْaktharuhummost of themلَاlā(do) notيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknowٱلْحَقَّ ۖl-ḥaqathe truthفَهُمfahumso theyمُّعْرِضُونَmuʿ'riḍūna(are) averse
Or have they taken gods besides Him? Say, [O Muhammad], "Produce your proof. This [Qur'an] is the message for those with me and the message of those before me." But most of them do not know the truth, so they are turning away

21:24
25
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا نُوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠ فَٱعْبُدُونِ
وَمَآwamāAnd notأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sentمِنminbefore youقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youمِنminanyرَّسُولٍrasūlinMessengerإِلَّاillābutنُوحِىٓnūḥīWe reveal(ed)إِلَيْهِilayhito himأَنَّهُۥannahuthat [He]لَآlā(There is) noإِلَـٰهَilāhagodإِلَّآillāexceptأَنَا۠anāMeفَٱعْبُدُونِfa-uʿ'budūniso worship Me
And We sent not before you any messenger except that We revealed to him that, "There is no deity except Me, so worship Me

21:25
26
وَقَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَلَدًۭا ۗ سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ ۚ بَلْ عِبَادٌۭ مُّكْرَمُونَ
وَقَالُوا۟waqālūAnd they sayٱتَّخَذَittakhadhaHas takenٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُl-raḥmānuthe Most Graciousوَلَدًۭا ۗwaladana sonسُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ ۚsub'ḥānahuGlorified is HeبَلْbalNayعِبَادٌۭʿibādun(they are) slavesمُّكْرَمُونَmuk'ramūnahonored
And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken a son." Exalted is He! Rather, they are [but] honored servants

21:26
27
لَا يَسْبِقُونَهُۥ بِٱلْقَوْلِ وَهُم بِأَمْرِهِۦ يَعْمَلُونَ
لَاlāNotيَسْبِقُونَهُۥyasbiqūnahuthey (can) precede Himبِٱلْقَوْلِbil-qawliin wordوَهُمwahumand theyبِأَمْرِهِۦbi-amrihiby His commandيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnaact
They cannot precede Him in word, and they act by His command

21:27
28
يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلَا يَشْفَعُونَ إِلَّا لِمَنِ ٱرْتَضَىٰ وَهُم مِّنْ خَشْيَتِهِۦ مُشْفِقُونَ
يَعْلَمُyaʿlamuHe knowsمَاmāwhatبَيْنَbayna(is) before themأَيْدِيهِمْaydīhim(is) before themوَمَاwamāand whatخَلْفَهُمْkhalfahum(is) behind themوَلَاwalāand notيَشْفَعُونَyashfaʿūnathey (can) intercedeإِلَّاillāexceptلِمَنِlimanifor whomٱرْتَضَىٰir'taḍāHe approvesوَهُمwahumAnd theyمِّنْminfromخَشْيَتِهِۦkhashyatihifear of Himمُشْفِقُونَmush'fiqūnastand in awe
He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they cannot intercede except on behalf of one whom He approves. And they, from fear of Him, are apprehensive

21:28
29
۞ وَمَن يَقُلْ مِنْهُمْ إِنِّىٓ إِلَـٰهٌۭ مِّن دُونِهِۦ فَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِيهِ جَهَنَّمَ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
۞ وَمَنwamanAnd whoeverيَقُلْyaqulsaysمِنْهُمْmin'humof themإِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I amإِلَـٰهٌۭilāhuna godمِّنminbesides Himدُونِهِۦdūnihibesides HimفَذَٰلِكَfadhālikaThen thatنَجْزِيهِnajzīhiWe will recompenseجَهَنَّمَ ۚjahannama(with) HellكَذَٰلِكَkadhālikaThusنَجْزِىnajzīWe recompenseٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
And whoever of them should say, "Indeed, I am a god besides Him"- that one We would recompense with Hell. Thus do We recompense the wrongdoers

21:29
30
أَوَلَمْ يَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ كَانَتَا رَتْقًۭا فَفَتَقْنَـٰهُمَا ۖ وَجَعَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمَآءِ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ حَىٍّ ۖ أَفَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
أَوَلَمْawalamDo notيَرَyaraseeٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُوٓا۟kafarūdisbelievedأَنَّannathatٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earthكَانَتَاkānatāwereرَتْقًۭاratqana joined entityفَفَتَقْنَـٰهُمَا ۖfafataqnāhumāthen We parted themوَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāand We madeمِنَminafromٱلْمَآءِl-māi[the] waterكُلَّkullaeveryشَىْءٍshayinliving thingحَىٍّ ۖḥayyinliving thingأَفَلَاafalāThen will notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnathey believe
Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe

31
وَجَعَلْنَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ رَوَٰسِىَ أَن تَمِيدَ بِهِمْ وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا فِجَاجًۭا سُبُلًۭا لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ
وَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāAnd We (have) placedفِىfīinٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthرَوَٰسِىَrawāsiyafirmly set mountainsأَنanlestتَمِيدَtamīdait (should) shakeبِهِمْbihimwith themوَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāand We madeفِيهَاfīhāthereinفِجَاجًۭاfijājanbroad passesسُبُلًۭاsubulan(as) waysلَّعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَهْتَدُونَyahtadūna(be) guided
And We placed within the earth firmly set mountains, lest it should shift with them, and We made therein [mountain] passes [as] roads that they might be guided

32
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ سَقْفًۭا مَّحْفُوظًۭا ۖ وَهُمْ عَنْ ءَايَـٰتِهَا مُعْرِضُونَ
وَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāAnd We madeٱلسَّمَآءَl-samāathe skyسَقْفًۭاsaqfana roofمَّحْفُوظًۭا ۖmaḥfūẓanprotectedوَهُمْwahumBut theyعَنْʿanfromءَايَـٰتِهَاāyātihāits Signsمُعْرِضُونَmuʿ'riḍūnaturn away
And We made the sky a protected ceiling, but they, from its signs, are turning away

33
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ وَٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ ۖ كُلٌّۭ فِى فَلَكٍۢ يَسْبَحُونَ
وَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Whoخَلَقَkhalaqacreatedٱلَّيْلَal-laylathe nightوَٱلنَّهَارَwal-nahāraand the dayوَٱلشَّمْسَwal-shamsaand the sunوَٱلْقَمَرَ ۖwal-qamaraand the moonكُلٌّۭkulluneachفِىfīinفَلَكٍۢfalakinan orbitيَسْبَحُونَyasbaḥūnafloating
And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming

34
وَمَا جَعَلْنَا لِبَشَرٍۢ مِّن قَبْلِكَ ٱلْخُلْدَ ۖ أَفَإِي۟ن مِّتَّ فَهُمُ ٱلْخَـٰلِدُونَ
وَمَاwamāAnd notجَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe madeلِبَشَرٍۢlibasharinfor any manمِّنminbefore youقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youٱلْخُلْدَ ۖl-khul'da[the] immortalityأَفَإِي۟نafa-inso ifمِّتَّmittayou dieفَهُمُfahumuthen (would) theyٱلْخَـٰلِدُونَl-khālidūnalive forever
And We did not grant to any man before you eternity [on earth]; so if you die - would they be eternal

35
كُلُّ نَفْسٍۢ ذَآئِقَةُ ٱلْمَوْتِ ۗ وَنَبْلُوكُم بِٱلشَّرِّ وَٱلْخَيْرِ فِتْنَةًۭ ۖ وَإِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ
كُلُّkulluEveryنَفْسٍۢnafsinsoulذَآئِقَةُdhāiqatu(will) tasteٱلْمَوْتِ ۗl-mawti[the] deathوَنَبْلُوكُمwanablūkumAnd We test youبِٱلشَّرِّbil-shariwith [the] badوَٱلْخَيْرِwal-khayriand [the] goodفِتْنَةًۭ ۖfit'natan(as) a trialوَإِلَيْنَاwa-ilaynāand to Usتُرْجَعُونَtur'jaʿūnayou will be returned
Every soul will taste death. And We test you with evil and with good as trial; and to Us you will be returned

36
وَإِذَا رَءَاكَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِن يَتَّخِذُونَكَ إِلَّا هُزُوًا أَهَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى يَذْكُرُ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَهُم بِذِكْرِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ هُمْ كَـٰفِرُونَ
وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenرَءَاكَraākathey see youٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُوٓا۟kafarūdisbelieveإِنinnotيَتَّخِذُونَكَyattakhidhūnakathey take youإِلَّاillāexceptهُزُوًاhuzuwan(in) ridiculeأَهَـٰذَاahādhāIs thisٱلَّذِىalladhīthe one whoيَذْكُرُyadhkurumentionsءَالِهَتَكُمْālihatakumyour godsوَهُمwahumAnd theyبِذِكْرِbidhik'riat (the) mentionٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmāni(of) the Most Graciousهُمْhum[they]كَـٰفِرُونَkāfirūna(are) disbelievers
And when those who disbelieve see you, [O Muhammad], they take you not except in ridicule, [saying], "Is this the one who insults your gods?" And they are, at the mention of the Most Merciful, disbelievers

37
خُلِقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مِنْ عَجَلٍۢ ۚ سَأُو۟رِيكُمْ ءَايَـٰتِى فَلَا تَسْتَعْجِلُونِ
خُلِقَkhuliqaIs createdٱلْإِنسَـٰنُl-insānuthe manمِنْminofعَجَلٍۢ ۚʿajalinhasteسَأُو۟رِيكُمْsa-urīkumI will show youءَايَـٰتِىāyātīMy Signsفَلَاfalāso (do) notتَسْتَعْجِلُونِtastaʿjilūniask Me to hasten
Man was created of haste. I will show you My signs, so do not impatiently urge Me

38
وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
وَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaAnd they sayمَتَىٰmatāWhen (will be fulfilled)هَـٰذَاhādhāthisٱلْوَعْدُl-waʿdupromiseإِنinifكُنتُمْkuntumyou areصَـٰدِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful

39
لَوْ يَعْلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ حِينَ لَا يَكُفُّونَ عَن وُجُوهِهِمُ ٱلنَّارَ وَلَا عَن ظُهُورِهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
لَوْlawIfيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknewٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelievedحِينَḥīna(the) timeلَاlā(when) notيَكُفُّونَyakuffūnathey will avertعَنʿanfromوُجُوهِهِمُwujūhihimutheir facesٱلنَّارَl-nārathe Fireوَلَاwalāand notعَنʿanfromظُهُورِهِمْẓuhūrihimtheir backsوَلَاwalāand notهُمْhumtheyيُنصَرُونَyunṣarūnawill be helped
If those who disbelieved but knew the time when they will not avert the Fire from their faces or from their backs and they will not be aided

40
بَلْ تَأْتِيهِم بَغْتَةًۭ فَتَبْهَتُهُمْ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ رَدَّهَا وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ
بَلْbalNayتَأْتِيهِمtatīhimit will come to themبَغْتَةًۭbaghtatanunexpectedlyفَتَبْهَتُهُمْfatabhatuhumand bewilder themفَلَاfalāthen notيَسْتَطِيعُونَyastaṭīʿūnathey will be ableرَدَّهَاraddahāto repel itوَلَاwalāand notهُمْhumtheyيُنظَرُونَyunẓarūnawill be given respite
Rather, it will come to them unexpectedly and bewilder them, and they will not be able to repel it, nor will they be reprieved

41
وَلَقَدِ ٱسْتُهْزِئَ بِرُسُلٍۢ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِٱلَّذِينَ سَخِرُوا۟ مِنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
وَلَقَدِwalaqadiAnd verilyٱسْتُهْزِئَus'tuh'zi-awere mockedبِرُسُلٍۢbirusulinMessengersمِّنminbefore youقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youفَحَاقَfaḥāqathen surroundedبِٱلَّذِينَbi-alladhīnathose whoسَخِرُوا۟sakhirūmockedمِنْهُمmin'humfrom themمَّاmāwhatكَانُوا۟kānūthey usedبِهِۦbihiat itيَسْتَهْزِءُونَyastahziūna(to) mock
And already were messengers ridiculed before you, but those who mocked them were enveloped by what they used to ridicule

42
قُلْ مَن يَكْلَؤُكُم بِٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ مِنَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۗ بَلْ هُمْ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّهِم مُّعْرِضُونَ
قُلْqulSayمَنmanWhoيَكْلَؤُكُمyakla-ukum(can) protect youبِٱلَّيْلِbi-al-layliin the nightوَٱلنَّهَارِwal-nahāriand the dayمِنَminafromٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۗl-raḥmānithe Most GraciousبَلْbalYetهُمْhumtheyعَنʿanfromذِكْرِdhik'ri(the) remembranceرَبِّهِمrabbihim(of) their Lordمُّعْرِضُونَmuʿ'riḍūnaturn away
Say, "Who can protect you at night or by day from the Most Merciful?" But they are, from the remembrance of their Lord, turning away

43
أَمْ لَهُمْ ءَالِهَةٌۭ تَمْنَعُهُم مِّن دُونِنَا ۚ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَلَا هُم مِّنَّا يُصْحَبُونَ
أَمْamOrلَهُمْlahumhave theyءَالِهَةٌۭālihatungodsتَمْنَعُهُمtamnaʿuhum(to) defend themمِّنminfromدُونِنَا ۚdūnināUsلَاlāNotيَسْتَطِيعُونَyastaṭīʿūnathey are ableنَصْرَnaṣra(to) helpأَنفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselvesوَلَاwalāand notهُمhumtheyمِّنَّاminnāfrom Usيُصْحَبُونَyuṣ'ḥabūnacan be protected
Or do they have gods to defend them other than Us? They are unable [even] to help themselves, nor can they be protected from Us

44
بَلْ مَتَّعْنَا هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ وَءَابَآءَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ طَالَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْعُمُرُ ۗ أَفَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَنَّا نَأْتِى ٱلْأَرْضَ نَنقُصُهَا مِنْ أَطْرَافِهَآ ۚ أَفَهُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ
بَلْbalNayمَتَّعْنَاmattaʿnāWe gave provisionهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāi(to) theseوَءَابَآءَهُمْwaābāahumand their fathersحَتَّىٰḥattāuntilطَالَṭālagrew longعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimufor themٱلْعُمُرُ ۗl-ʿumuruthe lifeأَفَلَاafalāThen do notيَرَوْنَyarawnathey seeأَنَّاannāthat WeنَأْتِىnatīWe comeٱلْأَرْضَl-arḍa(to) the landنَنقُصُهَاnanquṣuhāWe reduce itمِنْminfromأَطْرَافِهَآ ۚaṭrāfihāits bordersأَفَهُمُafahumuSo is (it) theyٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَl-ghālibūna(who will be) overcoming
But, [on the contrary], We have provided good things for these [disbelievers] and their fathers until life was prolonged for them. Then do they not see that We set upon the land, reducing it from its borders? So it is they who will overcome

45
قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أُنذِرُكُم بِٱلْوَحْىِ ۚ وَلَا يَسْمَعُ ٱلصُّمُّ ٱلدُّعَآءَ إِذَا مَا يُنذَرُونَ
قُلْqulSayإِنَّمَآinnamāOnlyأُنذِرُكُمundhirukumI warn youبِٱلْوَحْىِ ۚbil-waḥyiby the revelationوَلَاwalāBut notيَسْمَعُyasmaʿuhearٱلصُّمُّl-ṣumuthe deafٱلدُّعَآءَl-duʿāathe callإِذَاidhāwhenمَاmāwhenيُنذَرُونَyundharūnathey are warned
Say, "I only warn you by revelation." But the deaf do not hear the call when they are warned

46
وَلَئِن مَّسَّتْهُمْ نَفْحَةٌۭ مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّكَ لَيَقُولُنَّ يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ
وَلَئِنwala-inAnd ifمَّسَّتْهُمْmassathumtouches themنَفْحَةٌۭnafḥatuna whiffمِّنْminofعَذَابِʿadhābi(the) punishmentرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordلَيَقُولُنَّlayaqūlunnasurely they will sayيَـٰوَيْلَنَآyāwaylanāO woe to usإِنَّاinnāIndeed, weكُنَّاkunnā[we] wereظَـٰلِمِينَẓālimīnawrongdoers
And if [as much as] a whiff of the punishment of your Lord should touch them, they would surely say, "O woe to us! Indeed, we have been wrongdoers

47
وَنَضَعُ ٱلْمَوَٰزِينَ ٱلْقِسْطَ لِيَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ فَلَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌۭ شَيْـًۭٔا ۖ وَإِن كَانَ مِثْقَالَ حَبَّةٍۢ مِّنْ خَرْدَلٍ أَتَيْنَا بِهَا ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِنَا حَـٰسِبِينَ
وَنَضَعُwanaḍaʿuAnd We setٱلْمَوَٰزِينَl-mawāzīnathe scalesٱلْقِسْطَl-qis'ṭa(of) the justiceلِيَوْمِliyawmifor (the) Dayٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionفَلَاfalāso notتُظْلَمُtuẓ'lamuwill be wrongedنَفْسٌۭnafsunany soulشَيْـًۭٔا ۖshayan(in) anythingوَإِنwa-inAnd ifكَانَkāna(there) beمِثْقَالَmith'qālaweightحَبَّةٍۢḥabbatin(of) a seedمِّنْminofخَرْدَلٍkhardalina mustardأَتَيْنَاataynāWe will bringبِهَا ۗbihā[with] itوَكَفَىٰwakafāAnd sufficientبِنَاbinā(are) Weحَـٰسِبِينَḥāsibīna(as) Reckoners
And We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all. And if there is [even] the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant

48
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ٱلْفُرْقَانَ وَضِيَآءًۭ وَذِكْرًۭا لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verilyءَاتَيْنَاātaynāWe gaveمُوسَىٰmūsāMusaوَهَـٰرُونَwahārūnaand Harunٱلْفُرْقَانَl-fur'qānathe Criterionوَضِيَآءًۭwaḍiyāanand a lightوَذِكْرًۭاwadhik'ranand a Reminderلِّلْمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqīnafor the righteous
And We had already given Moses and Aaron the criterion and a light and a reminder for the righteous

49
ٱلَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلْغَيْبِ وَهُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّاعَةِ مُشْفِقُونَ
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoيَخْشَوْنَyakhshawnafearرَبَّهُمrabbahumtheir Lordبِٱلْغَيْبِbil-ghaybiin the unseenوَهُمwahumand theyمِّنَminaofٱلسَّاعَةِl-sāʿatithe Hourمُشْفِقُونَmush'fiqūna(are) afraid
Who fear their Lord unseen, while they are of the Hour apprehensive

50
وَهَـٰذَا ذِكْرٌۭ مُّبَارَكٌ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ ۚ أَفَأَنتُمْ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ
وَهَـٰذَاwahādhāAnd thisذِكْرٌۭdhik'run(is) a Reminderمُّبَارَكٌmubārakunblessedأَنزَلْنَـٰهُ ۚanzalnāhuwhich We (have) revealedأَفَأَنتُمْafa-antumThen are youلَهُۥlahuof itمُنكِرُونَmunkirūnarejecters
And this [Qur'an] is a blessed message which We have sent down. Then are you with it unacquainted

51
۞ وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ رُشْدَهُۥ مِن قَبْلُ وَكُنَّا بِهِۦ عَـٰلِمِينَ
۞ وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verilyءَاتَيْنَآātaynāWe gaveإِبْرَٰهِيمَib'rāhīmaIbrahimرُشْدَهُۥrush'dahuhis guidanceمِنminbeforeقَبْلُqablubeforeوَكُنَّاwakunnāand We wereبِهِۦbihiabout himعَـٰلِمِينَʿālimīnaWell-Knowing
And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing

52
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَا هَـٰذِهِ ٱلتَّمَاثِيلُ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَنتُمْ لَهَا عَـٰكِفُونَ
إِذْidhWhenقَالَqālahe saidلِأَبِيهِli-abīhito his fatherوَقَوْمِهِۦwaqawmihiand his peopleمَاmāWhatهَـٰذِهِhādhihi(are) theseٱلتَّمَاثِيلُl-tamāthīlu[the] statuesٱلَّتِىٓallatīwhichأَنتُمْantumyouلَهَاlahāto itعَـٰكِفُونَʿākifūna(are) devoted
When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted

قَالُوا۟ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا لَهَا عَـٰبِدِينَ
قَالُوا۟qālūThey saidوَجَدْنَآwajadnāWe foundءَابَآءَنَاābāanāour forefathersلَهَاlahāof themعَـٰبِدِينَʿābidīnaworshippers
They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them

54
قَالَ لَقَدْ كُنتُمْ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُمْ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ
قَالَqālaHe saidلَقَدْlaqadVerilyكُنتُمْkuntumyou areأَنتُمْantum[you]وَءَابَآؤُكُمْwaābāukumand your forefathersفِىfī(were) inضَلَـٰلٍۢḍalālinan errorمُّبِينٍۢmubīninmanifest
He said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error

55
قَالُوٓا۟ أَجِئْتَنَا بِٱلْحَقِّ أَمْ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱللَّـٰعِبِينَ
قَالُوٓا۟qālūThey saidأَجِئْتَنَاaji'tanāHave you come to usبِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiwith the truthأَمْamorأَنتَantayouمِنَmina(are) ofٱللَّـٰعِبِينَl-lāʿibīnathose who play
They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest

56
قَالَ بَل رَّبُّكُمْ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلَّذِى فَطَرَهُنَّ وَأَنَا۠ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَ
قَالَqālaHe saidبَلbalNayرَّبُّكُمْrabbukumyour Lordرَبُّrabbu(is the) Lordٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One Whoفَطَرَهُنَّfaṭarahunnacreated themوَأَنَا۠wa-anāand I amعَلَىٰʿalātoذَٰلِكُمdhālikumthatمِّنَminaofٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَl-shāhidīnathe witnesses
He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify

57
وَتَٱللَّهِ لَأَكِيدَنَّ أَصْنَـٰمَكُم بَعْدَ أَن تُوَلُّوا۟ مُدْبِرِينَ
وَتَٱللَّهِwatal-lahiAnd by Allahلَأَكِيدَنَّla-akīdannasurely, I will planأَصْنَـٰمَكُمaṣnāmakum(against) your idolsبَعْدَbaʿdaafterأَنan[that]تُوَلُّوا۟tuwallūyou go awayمُدْبِرِينَmud'birīnaturning (your) backs
And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away

58
فَجَعَلَهُمْ جُذَٰذًا إِلَّا كَبِيرًۭا لَّهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِ يَرْجِعُونَ
فَجَعَلَهُمْfajaʿalahumSo he made themجُذَٰذًاjudhādhan(into) piecesإِلَّاillāexceptكَبِيرًۭاkabīrana large (one)لَّهُمْlahumof themلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayإِلَيْهِilayhito itيَرْجِعُونَyarjiʿūnareturn
So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question]

قَالُوا۟ مَن فَعَلَ هَـٰذَا بِـَٔالِهَتِنَآ إِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
قَالُوا۟qālūThey saidمَنmanWhoفَعَلَfaʿala(has) doneهَـٰذَاhādhāthisبِـَٔالِهَتِنَآbiālihatināto our godsإِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, heلَمِنَlamina(is) ofٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers

60
قَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا فَتًۭى يَذْكُرُهُمْ يُقَالُ لَهُۥٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمُ
قَالُوا۟qālūThey saidسَمِعْنَاsamiʿ'nāWe heardفَتًۭىfatana youthيَذْكُرُهُمْyadhkuruhummention themيُقَالُyuqāluhe is calledلَهُۥٓlahuhe is calledإِبْرَٰهِيمُib'rāhīmuIbrahim
They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham

21:60
61
قَالُوا۟ فَأْتُوا۟ بِهِۦ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْيُنِ ٱلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَشْهَدُونَ
قَالُوا۟qālūThey saidفَأْتُوا۟fatūThen bringبِهِۦbihihimعَلَىٰٓʿalābeforeأَعْيُنِaʿyuni(the) eyesٱلنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the peopleلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَشْهَدُونَyashhadūnabear witness
They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify

21:61
62
قَالُوٓا۟ ءَأَنتَ فَعَلْتَ هَـٰذَا بِـَٔالِهَتِنَا يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ
قَالُوٓا۟qālūThey saidءَأَنتَa-antaHave youفَعَلْتَfaʿaltadoneهَـٰذَاhādhāthisبِـَٔالِهَتِنَاbiālihatināto our godsيَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُyāib'rāhīmuO Ibrahim
They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham

21:62
63
قَالَ بَلْ فَعَلَهُۥ كَبِيرُهُمْ هَـٰذَا فَسْـَٔلُوهُمْ إِن كَانُوا۟ يَنطِقُونَ
قَالَqālaHe saidبَلْbalNayفَعَلَهُۥfaʿalahu(some doer) did itكَبِيرُهُمْkabīruhumTheir chiefهَـٰذَاhādhā(is) thisفَسْـَٔلُوهُمْfasalūhumSo ask themإِنinifكَانُوا۟kānūthey (can)يَنطِقُونَyanṭiqūnaspeak
He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak

21:63
64
فَرَجَعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ فَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ أَنتُمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
فَرَجَعُوٓا۟farajaʿūSo they returnedإِلَىٰٓilātoأَنفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselvesفَقَالُوٓا۟faqālūand saidإِنَّكُمْinnakumIndeed, youأَنتُمُantumu[you]ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَl-ẓālimūna(are) the wrongdoers
So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers

21:64
65
ثُمَّ نُكِسُوا۟ عَلَىٰ رُءُوسِهِمْ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَا هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ يَنطِقُونَ
ثُمَّthummaThenنُكِسُوا۟nukisūthey were turnedعَلَىٰʿalāonرُءُوسِهِمْruūsihimtheir headsلَقَدْlaqadVerilyعَلِمْتَʿalim'tayou knowمَاmānotهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāitheseيَنطِقُونَyanṭiqūna(can) speak
Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak

66
قَالَ أَفَتَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنفَعُكُمْ شَيْـًۭٔا وَلَا يَضُرُّكُمْ
قَالَqālaHe saidأَفَتَعْبُدُونَafataʿbudūnaThen do you worshipمِنminbesidesدُونِdūnibesidesٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahمَاmāwhatلَاlā(does) notيَنفَعُكُمْyanfaʿukumbenefit youشَيْـًۭٔاshayan(in) anythingوَلَاwalāand notيَضُرُّكُمْyaḍurrukumharms you
He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allah that which does not benefit you at all or harm you

21:66
67
أُفٍّۢ لَّكُمْ وَلِمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
أُفٍّۢuffinUffلَّكُمْlakumto youوَلِمَاwalimāand to whatتَعْبُدُونَtaʿbudūnayou worshipمِنminbesidesدُونِdūnibesidesٱللَّهِ ۖl-lahiAllahأَفَلَاafalāThen will notتَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūnayou use reason
Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah. Then will you not use reason

68
قَالُوا۟ حَرِّقُوهُ وَٱنصُرُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ فَـٰعِلِينَ
قَالُوا۟qālūThey saidحَرِّقُوهُḥarriqūhuBurn himوَٱنصُرُوٓا۟wa-unṣurūand supportءَالِهَتَكُمْālihatakumyour godsإِنinifكُنتُمْkuntumyou areفَـٰعِلِينَfāʿilīnadoers
They said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act

21:68
69
قُلْنَا يَـٰنَارُ كُونِى بَرْدًۭا وَسَلَـٰمًا عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
قُلْنَاqul'nāWe saidيَـٰنَارُyānāruO fireكُونِىkūnīBeبَرْدًۭاbardancool[ness]وَسَلَـٰمًاwasalāmanand safe[ty]عَلَىٰٓʿalāforإِبْرَٰهِيمَib'rāhīmaIbrahim
Allah said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham
⤳ Link
21:69
70
وَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًۭا فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْأَخْسَرِينَ
وَأَرَادُوا۟wa-arādūAnd they intendedبِهِۦbihifor himكَيْدًۭاkaydana planفَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُfajaʿalnāhumubut We made themٱلْأَخْسَرِينَl-akhsarīnathe greatest losers
And they intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers

21:70
71
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَلُوطًا إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلَّتِى بَـٰرَكْنَا فِيهَا لِلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُwanajjaynāhuAnd We delivered himوَلُوطًاwalūṭanand Lutإِلَىilātoٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe landٱلَّتِىallatīwhichبَـٰرَكْنَاbāraknāWe (had) blessedفِيهَاfīhā[in it]لِلْعَـٰلَمِينَlil'ʿālamīnafor the worlds
And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds

21:71
72
وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ إِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ نَافِلَةًۭ ۖ وَكُلًّۭا جَعَلْنَا صَـٰلِحِينَ
وَوَهَبْنَاwawahabnāAnd We bestowedلَهُۥٓlahuon himإِسْحَـٰقَis'ḥāqaIsaacوَيَعْقُوبَwayaʿqūbaand Yaqubنَافِلَةًۭ ۖnāfilatan(in) additionوَكُلًّۭاwakullanand allجَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe madeصَـٰلِحِينَṣāliḥīnarighteous
And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous

21:72
73
وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ أَئِمَّةًۭ يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِمْ فِعْلَ ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ وَإِقَامَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَإِيتَآءَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةِ ۖ وَكَانُوا۟ لَنَا عَـٰبِدِينَ
وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْwajaʿalnāhumAnd We made themأَئِمَّةًۭa-immatanleadersيَهْدُونَyahdūnathey guideبِأَمْرِنَاbi-amrināby Our Commandوَأَوْحَيْنَآwa-awḥaynāAnd We inspiredإِلَيْهِمْilayhimto themفِعْلَfiʿ'la(the) doingٱلْخَيْرَٰتِl-khayrāti(of) good deedsوَإِقَامَwa-iqāmaand establishmentٱلصَّلَوٰةِl-ṣalati(of) the prayerوَإِيتَآءَwaītāaand givingٱلزَّكَوٰةِ ۖl-zakati(of) zakahوَكَانُوا۟wakānūand they wereلَنَاlanāof Usعَـٰبِدِينَʿābidīnaworshippers
And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us

21:73
74
وَلُوطًا ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ حُكْمًۭا وَعِلْمًۭا وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْقَرْيَةِ ٱلَّتِى كَانَت تَّعْمَلُ ٱلْخَبَـٰٓئِثَ ۗ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمَ سَوْءٍۢ فَـٰسِقِينَ
وَلُوطًاwalūṭanAnd (to) LutءَاتَيْنَـٰهُātaynāhuWe gave himحُكْمًۭاḥuk'manjudgmentوَعِلْمًۭاwaʿil'manand knowledgeوَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُwanajjaynāhuand We saved himمِنَminafromٱلْقَرْيَةِl-qaryatithe townٱلَّتِىallatīwhichكَانَتkānatwasتَّعْمَلُtaʿmaludoingٱلْخَبَـٰٓئِثَ ۗl-khabāithawicked deedsإِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, theyكَانُوا۟kānūwereقَوْمَqawmaa peopleسَوْءٍۢsawinevilفَـٰسِقِينَfāsiqīnadefiantly disobedient
And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient

21:74
75
وَأَدْخَلْنَـٰهُ فِى رَحْمَتِنَآ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
وَأَدْخَلْنَـٰهُwa-adkhalnāhuAnd We admitted himفِىfīintoرَحْمَتِنَآ ۖraḥmatināOur MercyإِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, heمِنَmina(was) ofٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous
And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous

21:75
76
وَنُوحًا إِذْ نَادَىٰ مِن قَبْلُ فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ فَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
وَنُوحًاwanūḥanAnd Nuhإِذْidhwhenنَادَىٰnādāhe calledمِنminbeforeقَبْلُqablubeforeفَٱسْتَجَبْنَاfa-is'tajabnāso We respondedلَهُۥlahuto himفَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُfanajjaynāhuand We saved himوَأَهْلَهُۥwa-ahlahuand his familyمِنَminafromٱلْكَرْبِl-karbithe afflictionٱلْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmi[the] great
And [mention] Noah, when he called [to Allah] before [that time], so We responded to him and saved him and his family from the great flood

21:76
77
وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمَ سَوْءٍۢ فَأَغْرَقْنَـٰهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُwanaṣarnāhuAnd We helped himمِنَminafromٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmithe peopleٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawhoكَذَّبُوا۟kadhabūdeniedبِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ ۚbiāyātināOur SignsإِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, theyكَانُوا۟kānūwereقَوْمَqawmaa peopleسَوْءٍۢsawinevilفَأَغْرَقْنَـٰهُمْfa-aghraqnāhumso We drowned themأَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīnaall
And We saved him from the people who denied Our signs. Indeed, they were a people of evil, so We drowned them, all together

78
وَدَاوُۥدَ وَسُلَيْمَـٰنَ إِذْ يَحْكُمَانِ فِى ٱلْحَرْثِ إِذْ نَفَشَتْ فِيهِ غَنَمُ ٱلْقَوْمِ وَكُنَّا لِحُكْمِهِمْ شَـٰهِدِينَ
وَدَاوُۥدَwadāwūdaAnd Dawudوَسُلَيْمَـٰنَwasulaymānaand Sulaimanإِذْidhwhenيَحْكُمَانِyaḥkumānithey judgedفِىfīconcerningٱلْحَرْثِl-ḥarthithe fieldإِذْidhwhenنَفَشَتْnafashatpasturedفِيهِfīhiin itغَنَمُghanamusheepٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmi(of) a peopleوَكُنَّاwakunnāand We wereلِحُكْمِهِمْliḥuk'mihimto their judgmentشَـٰهِدِينَshāhidīnawitness
And [mention] David and Solomon, when they judged concerning the field - when the sheep of a people overran it [at night], and We were witness to their judgement

21:78
79
فَفَهَّمْنَـٰهَا سُلَيْمَـٰنَ ۚ وَكُلًّا ءَاتَيْنَا حُكْمًۭا وَعِلْمًۭا ۚ وَسَخَّرْنَا مَعَ دَاوُۥدَ ٱلْجِبَالَ يُسَبِّحْنَ وَٱلطَّيْرَ ۚ وَكُنَّا فَـٰعِلِينَ
فَفَهَّمْنَـٰهَاfafahhamnāhāAnd We gave understanding of itسُلَيْمَـٰنَ ۚsulaymāna(to) Sulaimanوَكُلًّاwakullanand (to) eachءَاتَيْنَاātaynāWe gaveحُكْمًۭاḥuk'manjudgmentوَعِلْمًۭا ۚwaʿil'manand knowledgeوَسَخَّرْنَاwasakharnāAnd We subjectedمَعَmaʿawithدَاوُۥدَdāwūdaDawudٱلْجِبَالَl-jibālathe mountainsيُسَبِّحْنَyusabbiḥ'na(to) glorify Our praisesوَٱلطَّيْرَ ۚwal-ṭayraand the birdsوَكُنَّاwakunnāAnd We wereفَـٰعِلِينَfāʿilīnathe Doers
And We gave understanding of the case to Solomon, and to each [of them] We gave judgement and knowledge. And We subjected the mountains to exalt [Us], along with David and [also] the birds. And We were doing [that]

21:79
80
وَعَلَّمْنَـٰهُ صَنْعَةَ لَبُوسٍۢ لَّكُمْ لِتُحْصِنَكُم مِّنۢ بَأْسِكُمْ ۖ فَهَلْ أَنتُمْ شَـٰكِرُونَ
وَعَلَّمْنَـٰهُwaʿallamnāhuAnd We taught himصَنْعَةَṣanʿata(the) makingلَبُوسٍۢlabūsin(of) coats of armorلَّكُمْlakumfor youلِتُحْصِنَكُمlituḥ'ṣinakumto protect youمِّنۢminfromبَأْسِكُمْ ۖbasikumyour battleفَهَلْfahalThen willأَنتُمْantumyouشَـٰكِرُونَshākirūna(be) grateful
And We taught him the fashioning of coats of armor to protect you from your [enemy in] battle. So will you then be grateful

21:80
81
وَلِسُلَيْمَـٰنَ ٱلرِّيحَ عَاصِفَةًۭ تَجْرِى بِأَمْرِهِۦٓ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلَّتِى بَـٰرَكْنَا فِيهَا ۚ وَكُنَّا بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَـٰلِمِينَ
وَلِسُلَيْمَـٰنَwalisulaymānaAnd to Sulaimanٱلرِّيحَl-rīḥathe windعَاصِفَةًۭʿāṣifatanforcefullyتَجْرِىtajrīblowingبِأَمْرِهِۦٓbi-amrihiby his commandإِلَىilātoٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe landٱلَّتِىallatīwhichبَـٰرَكْنَاbāraknāWe blessedفِيهَا ۚfīhā[in it]وَكُنَّاwakunnāAnd We areبِكُلِّbikulliof everyشَىْءٍshayinthingعَـٰلِمِينَʿālimīnaKnowers
And to Solomon [We subjected] the wind, blowing forcefully, proceeding by his command toward the land which We had blessed. And We are ever, of all things, Knowing

21:81
82
وَمِنَ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ مَن يَغُوصُونَ لَهُۥ وَيَعْمَلُونَ عَمَلًۭا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَكُنَّا لَهُمْ حَـٰفِظِينَ
وَمِنَwaminaAnd ofٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِl-shayāṭīnithe devilsمَنman(were some) whoيَغُوصُونَyaghūṣūnawould diveلَهُۥlahufor himوَيَعْمَلُونَwayaʿmalūnaand would doعَمَلًۭاʿamalanworkدُونَdūnaother thanذَٰلِكَ ۖdhālikathatوَكُنَّاwakunnāAnd We wereلَهُمْlahumof themحَـٰفِظِينَḥāfiẓīnaGuardians
And of the devils were those who dived for him and did work other than that. And We were of them a guardian

21:82
83
۞ وَأَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَسَّنِىَ ٱلضُّرُّ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ
۞ وَأَيُّوبَwa-ayyūbaAnd Ayubإِذْidhwhenنَادَىٰnādāhe calledرَبَّهُۥٓrabbahu(to) his LordأَنِّىannīIndeed, [I]مَسَّنِىَmassaniyahas touched meٱلضُّرُّl-ḍuruthe adversityوَأَنتَwa-antaand Youأَرْحَمُarḥamu(are) Most Mercifulٱلرَّٰحِمِينَl-rāḥimīna(of) the Merciful
And [mention] Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, adversity has touched me, and you are the Most Merciful of the merciful

84
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ فَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِۦ مِن ضُرٍّۢ ۖ وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ أَهْلَهُۥ وَمِثْلَهُم مَّعَهُمْ رَحْمَةًۭ مِّنْ عِندِنَا وَذِكْرَىٰ لِلْعَـٰبِدِينَ
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَاfa-is'tajabnāSo We respondedلَهُۥlahuto himفَكَشَفْنَاfakashafnāand We removedمَاmāwhatبِهِۦbihi(was) on himمِنminofضُرٍّۢ ۖḍurrin(the) adversityوَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُwaātaynāhuAnd We gave himأَهْلَهُۥahlahuhis familyوَمِثْلَهُمwamith'lahumand (the) like thereofمَّعَهُمْmaʿahumwith themرَحْمَةًۭraḥmatan(as) Mercyمِّنْminfrom Ourselvesعِندِنَاʿindināfrom Ourselvesوَذِكْرَىٰwadhik'rāand a reminderلِلْعَـٰبِدِينَlil'ʿābidīnafor the worshippers
So We responded to him and removed what afflicted him of adversity. And We gave him [back] his family and the like thereof with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers [of Allah]

21:84
85
وَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَ وَإِدْرِيسَ وَذَا ٱلْكِفْلِ ۖ كُلٌّۭ مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
وَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَwa-is'māʿīlaAnd Ishmaelوَإِدْرِيسَwa-id'rīsaand Idrisوَذَاwadhāand Dhul-Kiflٱلْكِفْلِ ۖl-kif'liand Dhul-Kiflكُلٌّۭkullunallمِّنَmina(were) ofٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَl-ṣābirīnathe patient ones
And [mention] Ishmael and Idrees and Dhul-Kifl; all were of the patient

21:85
86
وَأَدْخَلْنَـٰهُمْ فِى رَحْمَتِنَآ ۖ إِنَّهُم مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
وَأَدْخَلْنَـٰهُمْwa-adkhalnāhumAnd We admitted themفِىfīinرَحْمَتِنَآ ۖraḥmatināOur MercyإِنَّهُمinnahumIndeed, theyمِّنَmina(were) ofٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous
And We admitted them into Our mercy. Indeed, they were of the righteous

21:86
87
وَذَا ٱلنُّونِ إِذ ذَّهَبَ مُغَـٰضِبًۭا فَظَنَّ أَن لَّن نَّقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ فَنَادَىٰ فِى ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ أَن لَّآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنتَ سُبْحَـٰنَكَ إِنِّى كُنتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
وَذَاwadhāAnd Dhun-Nunٱلنُّونِl-nūniAnd Dhun-Nunإِذidhwhenذَّهَبَdhahabahe wentمُغَـٰضِبًۭاmughāḍiban(while) angryفَظَنَّfaẓannaand thoughtأَنanthatلَّنlanneverنَّقْدِرَnaqdiraWe would decreeعَلَيْهِʿalayhiupon himفَنَادَىٰfanādāThen he calledفِىfīinٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِl-ẓulumātithe darkness(es)أَنanthatلَّآlā(There is) noإِلَـٰهَilāhagodإِلَّآillāexceptأَنتَantaYouسُبْحَـٰنَكَsub'ḥānakaGlory be to YouإِنِّىinnīIndeed, [I]كُنتُkuntuI amمِنَminaofٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
And [mention] the man of the fish, when he went off in anger and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him. And he called out within the darknesses, "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers

88
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْغَمِّ ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُـۨجِى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَاfa-is'tajabnāSo We respondedلَهُۥlahuto himوَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُwanajjaynāhuand We saved himمِنَminafromٱلْغَمِّ ۚl-ghamithe distressوَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusنُـۨجِىnunjīWe saveٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers
So We responded to him and saved him from the distress. And thus do We save the believers

21:88
89
وَزَكَرِيَّآ إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥ رَبِّ لَا تَذَرْنِى فَرْدًۭا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلْوَٰرِثِينَ
وَزَكَرِيَّآwazakariyyāAnd Zakariyaإِذْidhwhenنَادَىٰnādāhe calledرَبَّهُۥrabbahu(to) his LordرَبِّrabbiMy Lordلَاlā(Do) notتَذَرْنِىtadharnīleave meفَرْدًۭاfardanaloneوَأَنتَwa-antawhile Youخَيْرُkhayru(are) [the] Bestٱلْوَٰرِثِينَl-wārithīna(of) the inheritors
And [mention] Zechariah, when he called to his Lord, "My Lord, do not leave me alone [with no heir], while you are the best of inheritors

21:89
90
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥ يَحْيَىٰ وَأَصْلَحْنَا لَهُۥ زَوْجَهُۥٓ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ يُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ وَيَدْعُونَنَا رَغَبًۭا وَرَهَبًۭا ۖ وَكَانُوا۟ لَنَا خَـٰشِعِينَ
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَاfa-is'tajabnāSo We respondedلَهُۥlahuto himوَوَهَبْنَاwawahabnāand We bestowedلَهُۥlahuon himيَحْيَىٰyaḥyāYahyaوَأَصْلَحْنَاwa-aṣlaḥnāand We curedلَهُۥlahufor himزَوْجَهُۥٓ ۚzawjahuhis wifeإِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, theyكَانُوا۟kānūused (to)يُسَـٰرِعُونَyusāriʿūnahastenفِىfīinٱلْخَيْرَٰتِl-khayrātigood deedsوَيَدْعُونَنَاwayadʿūnanāand they supplicate to Usرَغَبًۭاraghaban(in) hopeوَرَهَبًۭا ۖwarahabanand fearوَكَانُوا۟wakānūand they wereلَنَاlanāto Usخَـٰشِعِينَkhāshiʿīnahumbly submissive
So We responded to him, and We gave to him John, and amended for him his wife. Indeed, they used to hasten to good deeds and supplicate Us in hope and fear, and they were to Us humbly submissive

21:90
91
وَٱلَّتِىٓ أَحْصَنَتْ فَرْجَهَا فَنَفَخْنَا فِيهَا مِن رُّوحِنَا وَجَعَلْنَـٰهَا وَٱبْنَهَآ ءَايَةًۭ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
وَٱلَّتِىٓwa-allatīAnd she whoأَحْصَنَتْaḥṣanatguardedفَرْجَهَاfarjahāher chastityفَنَفَخْنَاfanafakhnāso We breathedفِيهَاfīhāinto herمِنminofرُّوحِنَاrūḥināOur Spiritوَجَعَلْنَـٰهَاwajaʿalnāhāand We made herوَٱبْنَهَآwa-ib'nahāand her sonءَايَةًۭāyatana signلِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَlil'ʿālamīnafor the worlds
And [mention] the one who guarded her chastity, so We blew into her [garment] through Our angel [Gabriel], and We made her and her son a sign for the worlds

21:91
92
إِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦٓ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ وَأَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمْ فَٱعْبُدُونِ
إِنَّinnaIndeedهَـٰذِهِۦٓhādhihithisأُمَّتُكُمْummatukum(is) your religion أُمَّةًۭummatanreligionوَٰحِدَةًۭwāḥidatanoneوَأَنَا۠wa-anāand I Amرَبُّكُمْrabbukumyour Lordفَٱعْبُدُونِfa-uʿ'budūniso worship Me
Indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me

21:92
93
وَتَقَطَّعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلٌّ إِلَيْنَا رَٰجِعُونَ
وَتَقَطَّعُوٓا۟wataqaṭṭaʿūBut they cut offأَمْرَهُمamrahumtheir affairبَيْنَهُمْ ۖbaynahumamong themselvesكُلٌّkullunallإِلَيْنَاilaynāto Usرَٰجِعُونَrājiʿūna(will) return
And [yet] they divided their affair among themselves, [but] all to Us will return

21:93
94
فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌۭ فَلَا كُفْرَانَ لِسَعْيِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ كَـٰتِبُونَ
فَمَنfamanThen whoeverيَعْمَلْyaʿmaldoesمِنَmina[of]ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِl-ṣāliḥāti[the] righteous deedsوَهُوَwahuwawhile heمُؤْمِنٌۭmu'minun(is) a believerفَلَاfalāthen notكُفْرَانَkuf'rāna(will be) rejectedلِسَعْيِهِۦlisaʿyihi[of] his effortوَإِنَّاwa-innāAnd indeed, Weلَهُۥlahuof itكَـٰتِبُونَkātibūna(are) Recorders
So whoever does righteous deeds while he is a believer - no denial will there be for his effort, and indeed We, of it, are recorders

21:94
95
وَحَرَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَـٰهَآ أَنَّهُمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ
وَحَرَٰمٌwaḥarāmunAnd (there is) prohibitionعَلَىٰʿalāuponقَرْيَةٍqaryatina cityأَهْلَكْنَـٰهَآahlaknāhāwhich We have destroyedأَنَّهُمْannahumthat theyلَاlānotيَرْجِعُونَyarjiʿūnawill return
And there is prohibition upon [the people of] a city which We have destroyed that they will [ever] return

21:95
96
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فُتِحَتْ يَأْجُوجُ وَمَأْجُوجُ وَهُم مِّن كُلِّ حَدَبٍۢ يَنسِلُونَ
حَتَّىٰٓḥattāUntilإِذَاidhāwhenفُتِحَتْfutiḥathas been openedيَأْجُوجُyajūju(for) the Yajujوَمَأْجُوجُwamajūjuand Majujوَهُمwahumand theyمِّنminfromكُلِّkullieveryحَدَبٍۢḥadabinelevationيَنسِلُونَyansilūnadescend
Until when [the dam of] Gog and Magog has been opened and they, from every elevation, descend

21:96
97
وَٱقْتَرَبَ ٱلْوَعْدُ ٱلْحَقُّ فَإِذَا هِىَ شَـٰخِصَةٌ أَبْصَـٰرُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا قَدْ كُنَّا فِى غَفْلَةٍۢ مِّنْ هَـٰذَا بَلْ كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ
وَٱقْتَرَبَwa-iq'tarabaAnd has approachedٱلْوَعْدُl-waʿduthe promiseٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaqu[the] trueفَإِذَاfa-idhāthen beholdهِىَhiya[it]شَـٰخِصَةٌshākhiṣatun(are) staringأَبْصَـٰرُabṣāru(the) eyesٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoكَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelievedيَـٰوَيْلَنَاyāwaylanāO woe to usقَدْqadVerilyكُنَّاkunnāwe had beenفِىfīinغَفْلَةٍۢghaflatinheedlessnessمِّنْminofهَـٰذَاhādhāthisبَلْbalnayكُنَّاkunnāwe wereظَـٰلِمِينَẓālimīnawrongdoers
And [when] the true promise has approached; then suddenly the eyes of those who disbelieved will be staring [in horror, while they say], "O woe to us; we had been unmindful of this; rather, we were wrongdoers

21:97
98
إِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ حَصَبُ جَهَنَّمَ أَنتُمْ لَهَا وَٰرِدُونَ
إِنَّكُمْinnakumIndeed, youوَمَاwamāand whatتَعْبُدُونَtaʿbudūnayou worshipمِنminbesides Allahدُونِdūnibesides Allahٱللَّهِl-lahibesides Allahحَصَبُḥaṣabu(are) firewoodجَهَنَّمَjahannama(of) HellأَنتُمْantumYouلَهَاlahāto itوَٰرِدُونَwāridūnawill come
Indeed, you [disbelievers] and what you worship other than Allah are the firewood of Hell. You will be coming to [enter] it

21:98
99
لَوْ كَانَ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ ءَالِهَةًۭ مَّا وَرَدُوهَا ۖ وَكُلٌّۭ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ
لَوْlawIfكَانَkānawereهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāitheseءَالِهَةًۭālihatangodsمَّاmānotوَرَدُوهَا ۖwaradūhāthey (would) have come to itوَكُلٌّۭwakullunAnd allفِيهَاfīhāthereinخَـٰلِدُونَkhālidūnawill abide forever
Had these [false deities] been [actual] gods, they would not have come to it, but all are eternal therein

21:99
100
لَهُمْ فِيهَا زَفِيرٌۭ وَهُمْ فِيهَا لَا يَسْمَعُونَ
لَهُمْlahumFor themفِيهَاfīhāthereinزَفِيرٌۭzafīrun(is) sighingوَهُمْwahumand theyفِيهَاfīhāthereinلَاlānotيَسْمَعُونَyasmaʿūnawill hear
For them therein is heavy sighing, and they therein will not hear

21:100
101
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ سَبَقَتْ لَهُم مِّنَّا ٱلْحُسْنَىٰٓ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ عَنْهَا مُبْعَدُونَ
إِنَّinnaIndeedٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathoseسَبَقَتْsabaqathas gone forthلَهُمlahumfor themمِّنَّاminnāfrom Usٱلْحُسْنَىٰٓl-ḥus'nāthe goodأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikathoseعَنْهَاʿanhāfrom itمُبْعَدُونَmub'ʿadūna(will be) removed far
Indeed, those for whom the best [reward] has preceded from Us - they are from it far removed

21:101
102
لَا يَسْمَعُونَ حَسِيسَهَا ۖ وَهُمْ فِى مَا ٱشْتَهَتْ أَنفُسُهُمْ خَـٰلِدُونَ
لَاlāNotيَسْمَعُونَyasmaʿūnathey will hearحَسِيسَهَا ۖḥasīsahā(the) slightest sound of itوَهُمْwahumand theyفِىfīinمَاmāwhatٱشْتَهَتْish'tahatdesireأَنفُسُهُمْanfusuhumtheir soulsخَـٰلِدُونَkhālidūnawill abide forever
They will not hear its sound, while they are, in that which their souls desire, abiding eternally

21:102
103
لَا يَحْزُنُهُمُ ٱلْفَزَعُ ٱلْأَكْبَرُ وَتَتَلَقَّىٰهُمُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ هَـٰذَا يَوْمُكُمُ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ
لَاlāNotيَحْزُنُهُمُyaḥzunuhumuwill grieve themٱلْفَزَعُl-fazaʿuthe terrorٱلْأَكْبَرُl-akbaru[the] greatestوَتَتَلَقَّىٰهُمُwatatalaqqāhumuand will meet themٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُl-malāikatuthe AngelsهَـٰذَاhādhāThisيَوْمُكُمُyawmukumu(is) your Dayٱلَّذِىalladhīwhichكُنتُمْkuntumyou wereتُوعَدُونَtūʿadūnapromised
They will not be grieved by the greatest terror, and the angels will meet them, [saying], "This is your Day which you have been promised

21:103
104
يَوْمَ نَطْوِى ٱلسَّمَآءَ كَطَىِّ ٱلسِّجِلِّ لِلْكُتُبِ ۚ كَمَا بَدَأْنَآ أَوَّلَ خَلْقٍۢ نُّعِيدُهُۥ ۚ وَعْدًا عَلَيْنَآ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا فَـٰعِلِينَ
يَوْمَyawma(The) DayنَطْوِىnaṭwīWe will foldٱلسَّمَآءَl-samāathe heavenكَطَىِّkaṭayyilike (the) foldingٱلسِّجِلِّl-sijili(of) a scrollلِلْكُتُبِ ۚlil'kutubifor recordsكَمَاkamāAsبَدَأْنَآbadanāWe beganأَوَّلَawwala(the) firstخَلْقٍۢkhalqincreationنُّعِيدُهُۥ ۚnuʿīduhuWe will repeat itوَعْدًاwaʿdana promiseعَلَيْنَآ ۚʿalaynāupon UsإِنَّاinnāIndeed, We كُنَّاkunnāWe areفَـٰعِلِينَfāʿilīna(the) Doers
The Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a [written] sheet for the records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. [That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it

21:104
105
وَلَقَدْ كَتَبْنَا فِى ٱلزَّبُورِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ٱلذِّكْرِ أَنَّ ٱلْأَرْضَ يَرِثُهَا عِبَادِىَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ
وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verilyكَتَبْنَاkatabnāWe have writtenفِىfīinٱلزَّبُورِl-zabūrithe Scriptureمِنۢminafterبَعْدِbaʿdiafterٱلذِّكْرِl-dhik'rithe mentionأَنَّannathatٱلْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earth يَرِثُهَاyarithuhāwill inherit itعِبَادِىَʿibādiyaMy slavesٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَl-ṣāliḥūnathe righteous
And We have already written in the book [of Psalms] after the [previous] mention that the land [of Paradise] is inherited by My righteous servants

21:105
106
إِنَّ فِى هَـٰذَا لَبَلَـٰغًۭا لِّقَوْمٍ عَـٰبِدِينَ
إِنَّinnaIndeedفِىfīinهَـٰذَاhādhāthisلَبَلَـٰغًۭاlabalāghansurely is a Messageلِّقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleعَـٰبِدِينَʿābidīnaworshippers
Indeed, in this [Qur'an] is notification for a worshipping people

21:106
107
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةًۭ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
وَمَآwamāAnd notأَرْسَلْنَـٰكَarsalnākaWe have sent youإِلَّاillābutرَحْمَةًۭraḥmatan(as) a mercyلِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَlil'ʿālamīnafor the worlds
And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds

21:107
108
قُلْ إِنَّمَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ أَنَّمَآ إِلَـٰهُكُمْ إِلَـٰهٌۭ وَٰحِدٌۭ ۖ فَهَلْ أَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ
قُلْqulSayإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyيُوحَىٰٓyūḥāit is revealedإِلَىَّilayyato meأَنَّمَآannamāthatإِلَـٰهُكُمْilāhukumyour godإِلَـٰهٌۭilāhun(is) Godوَٰحِدٌۭ ۖwāḥidunOneفَهَلْfahalso willأَنتُمantumyouمُّسْلِمُونَmus'limūnasubmit (to Him)
Say, "It is only revealed to me that your god is but one God; so will you be Muslims [in submission to Him]

21:108
109
فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَقُلْ ءَاذَنتُكُمْ عَلَىٰ سَوَآءٍۢ ۖ وَإِنْ أَدْرِىٓ أَقَرِيبٌ أَم بَعِيدٌۭ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ
فَإِنfa-inBut ifتَوَلَّوْا۟tawallawthey turn awayفَقُلْfaqulthen sayءَاذَنتُكُمْādhantukumI (have) announced to youعَلَىٰʿalāequallyسَوَآءٍۢ ۖsawāinequallyوَإِنْwa-inAnd notأَدْرِىٓadrīI knowأَقَرِيبٌaqarībunwhether is nearأَمamorبَعِيدٌۭbaʿīdunfarمَّاmāwhatتُوعَدُونَtūʿadūnayou are promised
But if they turn away, then say, "I have announced to [all of] you equally. And I know not whether near or far is that which you are promised

21:109
110
إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْلِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تَكْتُمُونَ
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, Heيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsٱلْجَهْرَl-jahrathe declaredمِنَmina[of]ٱلْقَوْلِl-qawli[the] speechوَيَعْلَمُwayaʿlamuand He knowsمَاmāwhatتَكْتُمُونَtaktumūnayou conceal
Indeed, He knows what is declared of speech, and He knows what you conceal

21:110
111
وَإِنْ أَدْرِى لَعَلَّهُۥ فِتْنَةٌۭ لَّكُمْ وَمَتَـٰعٌ إِلَىٰ حِينٍۢ
وَإِنْwa-inAnd notأَدْرِىadrīI knowلَعَلَّهُۥlaʿallahuperhaps it may beفِتْنَةٌۭfit'natuna trialلَّكُمْlakumfor youوَمَتَـٰعٌwamatāʿunand an enjoymentإِلَىٰilāforحِينٍۢḥīnina time
And I know not; perhaps it is a trial for you and enjoyment for a time

21:111
112
قَـٰلَ رَبِّ ٱحْكُم بِٱلْحَقِّ ۗ وَرَبُّنَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ ٱلْمُسْتَعَانُ عَلَىٰ مَا تَصِفُونَ
قَـٰلَqālaHe saidرَبِّrabbiMy Lordٱحْكُمuḥ'kumjudgeبِٱلْحَقِّ ۗbil-ḥaqiin truthوَرَبُّنَاwarabbunāAnd our Lordٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُl-raḥmānu(is) the Most Graciousٱلْمُسْتَعَانُl-mus'taʿānuthe One Whose help is soughtعَلَىٰʿalāagainstمَاmāwhatتَصِفُونَtaṣifūnayou attribute
[The Prophet] has said, "My Lord, judge [between us] in truth. And our Lord is the Most Merciful, the one whose help is sought against that which you describe
