بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
1
طسٓمٓ
طسٓمٓtta-seen-meemTa Seem Meem
Ta, Seen, Meem
⤳ Link 28:1
2
تِلْكَ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ
تِلْكَtil'kaTheseءَايَـٰتُāyātu(are the) Versesٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Bookٱلْمُبِينِl-mubīnithe clear
These are the verses of the clear Book
⤳ Link 28:2
3
نَتْلُوا۟ عَلَيْكَ مِن نَّبَإِ مُوسَىٰ وَفِرْعَوْنَ بِٱلْحَقِّ لِقَوْمٍۢ يُؤْمِنُونَ
نَتْلُوا۟natlūWe reciteعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youمِنminfromنَّبَإِnaba-i(the) newsمُوسَىٰmūsā(of) Musaوَفِرْعَوْنَwafir'ʿawnaand Firaunبِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truthلِقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a peopleيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnawho believe
We recite to you from the news of Moses and Pharaoh in truth for a people who believe
⤳ Link 28:3
4
إِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ عَلَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَجَعَلَ أَهْلَهَا شِيَعًۭا يَسْتَضْعِفُ طَآئِفَةًۭ مِّنْهُمْ يُذَبِّحُ أَبْنَآءَهُمْ وَيَسْتَحْىِۦ نِسَآءَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ
إِنَّinnaIndeedفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraunعَلَاʿalāexalted himselfفِىinٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe landوَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand madeأَهْلَهَاahlahāits peopleشِيَعًۭاshiyaʿan(into) sectsيَسْتَضْعِفُyastaḍʿifuoppressingطَآئِفَةًۭṭāifatana groupمِّنْهُمْmin'humamong themيُذَبِّحُyudhabbiḥuslaughteringأَبْنَآءَهُمْabnāahumtheir sonsوَيَسْتَحْىِۦwayastaḥyīand letting liveنِسَآءَهُمْ ۚnisāahumtheir womenإِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, heكَانَkānawasمِنَminaofٱلْمُفْسِدِينَl-muf'sidīnathe corrupters
Indeed, Pharaoh exalted himself in the land and made its people into factions, oppressing a sector among them, slaughtering their [newborn] sons and keeping their females alive. Indeed, he was of the corrupters

5
وَنُرِيدُ أَن نَّمُنَّ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتُضْعِفُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَنَجْعَلَهُمْ أَئِمَّةًۭ وَنَجْعَلَهُمُ ٱلْوَٰرِثِينَ
وَنُرِيدُwanurīduAnd We wantedأَنantoنَّمُنَّnamunnabestow a favorعَلَىʿalāuponٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoٱسْتُضْعِفُوا۟us'tuḍ'ʿifūwere oppressedفِىinٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe landوَنَجْعَلَهُمْwanajʿalahumand make themأَئِمَّةًۭa-immatanleadersوَنَجْعَلَهُمُwanajʿalahumuand make themٱلْوَٰرِثِينَl-wārithīnathe inheritors
And We wanted to confer favor upon those who were oppressed in the land and make them leaders and make them inheritors
⤳ Link 28:5
6
وَنُمَكِّنَ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَنُرِىَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَهَـٰمَـٰنَ وَجُنُودَهُمَا مِنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَحْذَرُونَ
وَنُمَكِّنَwanumakkinaAnd [We] establishلَهُمْlahumthemفِىinٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe landوَنُرِىَwanuriyaand showفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraunوَهَـٰمَـٰنَwahāmānaand Hamanوَجُنُودَهُمَاwajunūdahumāand their hostsمِنْهُمmin'humthrough themمَّاwhatكَانُوا۟kānūthey wereيَحْذَرُونَyaḥdharūnafearing
And establish them in the land and show Pharaoh and [his minister] Haman and their soldiers through them that which they had feared
⤳ Link 28:6
7
وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمِّ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَرْضِعِيهِ ۖ فَإِذَا خِفْتِ عَلَيْهِ فَأَلْقِيهِ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ وَلَا تَخَافِى وَلَا تَحْزَنِىٓ ۖ إِنَّا رَآدُّوهُ إِلَيْكِ وَجَاعِلُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
وَأَوْحَيْنَآwa-awḥaynāAnd We inspiredإِلَىٰٓilā[to]أُمِّummi(the) motherمُوسَىٰٓmūsā(of) Musaأَنْanthatأَرْضِعِيهِ ۖarḍiʿīhiSuckle himفَإِذَاfa-idhābut whenخِفْتِkhif'tiyou fearعَلَيْهِʿalayhifor himفَأَلْقِيهِfa-alqīhithen cast himفِىin(to)ٱلْيَمِّl-yamithe riverوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَخَافِىtakhāfīfearوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَحْزَنِىٓ ۖtaḥzanīgrieveإِنَّاinnāIndeed, Weرَآدُّوهُrāddūhu(will) restore himإِلَيْكِilaykito youوَجَاعِلُوهُwajāʿilūhuand (will) make himمِنَminaofٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers
And We inspired to the mother of Moses, "Suckle him; but when you fear for him, cast him into the river and do not fear and do not grieve. Indeed, We will return him to you and will make him [one] of the messengers
⤳ Link 28:7
8
فَٱلْتَقَطَهُۥٓ ءَالُ فِرْعَوْنَ لِيَكُونَ لَهُمْ عَدُوًّۭا وَحَزَنًا ۗ إِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ وَهَـٰمَـٰنَ وَجُنُودَهُمَا كَانُوا۟ خَـٰطِـِٔينَ
فَٱلْتَقَطَهُۥٓfal-taqaṭahuThen picked him upءَالُālu(the) familyفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(of) Firaunلِيَكُونَliyakūnaso that he might becomeلَهُمْlahumto themعَدُوًّۭاʿaduwwanan enemyوَحَزَنًا ۗwaḥazananand a griefإِنَّinnaIndeedفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraunوَهَـٰمَـٰنَwahāmānaand Hamanوَجُنُودَهُمَاwajunūdahumāand their hostsكَانُوا۟kānūwereخَـٰطِـِٔينَkhāṭiīnasinners
And the family of Pharaoh picked him up [out of the river] so that he would become to them an enemy and a [cause of] grief. Indeed, Pharaoh and Haman and their soldiers were deliberate sinners
⤳ Link 28:8
9
وَقَالَتِ ٱمْرَأَتُ فِرْعَوْنَ قُرَّتُ عَيْنٍۢ لِّى وَلَكَ ۖ لَا تَقْتُلُوهُ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَنفَعَنَآ أَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُۥ وَلَدًۭا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
وَقَالَتِwaqālatiAnd saidٱمْرَأَتُim'ra-atu(the) wifeفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(of) FiraunقُرَّتُqurratuA comfortعَيْنٍۢʿaynin(of the) eyeلِّىfor meوَلَكَ ۖwalakaand for youلَا(Do) notتَقْتُلُوهُtaqtulūhukill himعَسَىٰٓʿasāperhapsأَنan(that)يَنفَعَنَآyanfaʿanāhe may benefit usأَوْaworنَتَّخِذَهُۥnattakhidhahuwe may take himوَلَدًۭاwaladan(as) a sonوَهُمْwahumAnd theyلَا(did) notيَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnaperceive
And the wife of Pharaoh said, "[He will be] a comfort of the eye for me and for you. Do not kill him; perhaps he may benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceived not
⤳ Link 28:9
10
وَأَصْبَحَ فُؤَادُ أُمِّ مُوسَىٰ فَـٰرِغًا ۖ إِن كَادَتْ لَتُبْدِى بِهِۦ لَوْلَآ أَن رَّبَطْنَا عَلَىٰ قَلْبِهَا لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
وَأَصْبَحَwa-aṣbaḥaAnd becameفُؤَادُfuādu(the) heartأُمِّummi(of the) motherمُوسَىٰmūsā(of) Musaفَـٰرِغًا ۖfārighanemptyإِنinThatكَادَتْkādatshe was nearلَتُبْدِىlatub'dī(to) disclosingبِهِۦbihiabout himلَوْلَآlawlāif notأَنanthatرَّبَطْنَاrabaṭnāWe strengthenedعَلَىٰʿalā[over]قَلْبِهَاqalbihāher heartلِتَكُونَlitakūnaso that she would beمِنَminaofٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers
And the heart of Moses' mother became empty [of all else]. She was about to disclose [the matter concerning] him had We not bound fast her heart that she would be of the believers
⤳ Link 28:10
11
وَقَالَتْ لِأُخْتِهِۦ قُصِّيهِ ۖ فَبَصُرَتْ بِهِۦ عَن جُنُبٍۢ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
وَقَالَتْwaqālatAnd she saidلِأُخْتِهِۦli-ukh'tihito his sisterقُصِّيهِ ۖquṣṣīhiFollow himفَبَصُرَتْfabaṣuratSo she watchedبِهِۦbihihimعَنʿanfromجُنُبٍۢjunubina distanceوَهُمْwahumwhile theyلَا(did) notيَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnaperceive
And she said to his sister, "Follow him"; so she watched him from a distance while they perceived not
⤳ Link 28:11
12
۞ وَحَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِ ٱلْمَرَاضِعَ مِن قَبْلُ فَقَالَتْ هَلْ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَهْلِ بَيْتٍۢ يَكْفُلُونَهُۥ لَكُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُۥ نَـٰصِحُونَ
۞ وَحَرَّمْنَاwaḥarramnāAnd We had forbiddenعَلَيْهِʿalayhifor himٱلْمَرَاضِعَl-marāḍiʿathe wet nursesمِنminbeforeقَبْلُqablubeforeفَقَالَتْfaqālatso she saidهَلْhalShall Iأَدُلُّكُمْadullukumdirect youعَلَىٰٓʿalātoأَهْلِahli(the) peopleبَيْتٍۢbaytin(of) a houseيَكْفُلُونَهُۥyakfulūnahuwho will rear himلَكُمْlakumfor youوَهُمْwahumwhile theyلَهُۥlahuto himنَـٰصِحُونَnāṣiḥūna(will be) sincere
And We had prevented from him [all] wet nurses before, so she said, "Shall I direct you to a household that will be responsible for him for you while they are to him [for his upbringing] sincere
⤳ Link 28:12
13
فَرَدَدْنَـٰهُ إِلَىٰٓ أُمِّهِۦ كَىْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ وَلِتَعْلَمَ أَنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّۭ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
فَرَدَدْنَـٰهُfaradadnāhuSo We restored himإِلَىٰٓilātoأُمِّهِۦummihihis motherكَىْkaythatتَقَرَّtaqarramight be comfortedعَيْنُهَاʿaynuhāher eyeوَلَاwalāand notتَحْزَنَtaḥzanashe may grieveوَلِتَعْلَمَwalitaʿlamaand that she would knowأَنَّannathatوَعْدَwaʿdathe Promise of Allahٱللَّهِl-lahithe Promise of Allahحَقٌّۭḥaqqun(is) trueوَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnaButأَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahummost of themلَا(do) notيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
So We restored him to his mother that she might be content and not grieve and that she would know that the promise of Allah is true. But most of the people do not know
⤳ Link 28:13
14
وَلَمَّا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُۥ وَٱسْتَوَىٰٓ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ حُكْمًۭا وَعِلْمًۭا ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenبَلَغَbalaghahe reachedأَشُدَّهُۥashuddahuhis full strengthوَٱسْتَوَىٰٓwa-is'tawāand became matureءَاتَيْنَـٰهُātaynāhuWe bestowed upon himحُكْمًۭاḥuk'manwisdomوَعِلْمًۭا ۚwaʿil'manand knowledgeوَكَذَٰلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusنَجْزِىnajzīWe rewardٱلْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers
And when he attained his full strength and was [mentally] mature, We bestowed upon him judgement and knowledge. And thus do We reward the doers of good
⤳ Link 28:14
15
وَدَخَلَ ٱلْمَدِينَةَ عَلَىٰ حِينِ غَفْلَةٍۢ مِّنْ أَهْلِهَا فَوَجَدَ فِيهَا رَجُلَيْنِ يَقْتَتِلَانِ هَـٰذَا مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ وَهَـٰذَا مِنْ عَدُوِّهِۦ ۖ فَٱسْتَغَـٰثَهُ ٱلَّذِى مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ عَلَى ٱلَّذِى مِنْ عَدُوِّهِۦ فَوَكَزَهُۥ مُوسَىٰ فَقَضَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ۖ قَالَ هَـٰذَا مِنْ عَمَلِ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ عَدُوٌّۭ مُّضِلٌّۭ مُّبِينٌۭ
وَدَخَلَwadakhalaAnd he enteredٱلْمَدِينَةَl-madīnatathe cityعَلَىٰʿalāatحِينِḥīnia timeغَفْلَةٍۢghaflatin(of) inattentionمِّنْminofأَهْلِهَاahlihāits peopleفَوَجَدَfawajadaand foundفِيهَاfīhāthereinرَجُلَيْنِrajulaynitwo menيَقْتَتِلَانِyaqtatilānifighting each otherهَـٰذَاhādhāthisمِنminofشِيعَتِهِۦshīʿatihihis partyوَهَـٰذَاwahādhāand thisمِنْminofعَدُوِّهِۦ ۖʿaduwwihihis enemyفَٱسْتَغَـٰثَهُfa-is'taghāthahuAnd called him for helpٱلَّذِىalladhīthe one whoمِنmin(was) fromشِيعَتِهِۦshīʿatihihis partyعَلَىʿalāagainstٱلَّذِىalladhīthe one whoمِنْmin(was) fromعَدُوِّهِۦʿaduwwihihis enemyفَوَكَزَهُۥfawakazahuso Musa struck him with his fistمُوسَىٰmūsāso Musa struck him with his fistفَقَضَىٰfaqaḍāand killed himعَلَيْهِ ۖʿalayhiand killed himقَالَqālaHe saidهَـٰذَاhādhāThis (is)مِنْminofعَمَلِʿamali(the) deedٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ ۖl-shayṭāni(of) ShaitaanإِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, heعَدُوٌّۭʿaduwwun(is) an enemy مُّضِلٌّۭmuḍillunone who misleadsمُّبِينٌۭmubīnunclearly
And he entered the city at a time of inattention by its people and found therein two men fighting: one from his faction and one from among his enemy. And the one from his faction called for help to him against the one from his enemy, so Moses struck him and [unintentionally] killed him. [Moses] said, "This is from the work of Satan. Indeed, he is a manifest, misleading enemy
⤳ Link 28:15
16
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِى فَٱغْفِرْ لِى فَغَفَرَ لَهُۥٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
قَالَqālaHe saidرَبِّrabbiMy LordإِنِّىinnīIndeed, Iظَلَمْتُẓalamtu[I] have wrongedنَفْسِىnafsīmy soulفَٱغْفِرْfa-igh'firso forgiveلِى[for] meفَغَفَرَfaghafaraThen He forgaveلَهُۥٓ ۚlahu[for] himإِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed HeهُوَhuwaHe (is)ٱلْغَفُورُl-ghafūruthe Oft-Forgivingٱلرَّحِيمُl-raḥīmuthe Most Merciful
He said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, so forgive me," and He forgave him. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful
⤳ Link 28:16
17
قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَآ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَىَّ فَلَنْ أَكُونَ ظَهِيرًۭا لِّلْمُجْرِمِينَ
قَالَqālaHe saidرَبِّrabbiMy LordبِمَآbimāBecauseأَنْعَمْتَanʿamtaYou have favoredعَلَىَّʿalayya[on] meفَلَنْfalanso notأَكُونَakūnaI will beظَهِيرًۭاẓahīrana supporterلِّلْمُجْرِمِينَlil'muj'rimīna(of) the criminals
He said, "My Lord, for the favor You bestowed upon me, I will never be an assistant to the criminals
⤳ Link 28:17
18
فَأَصْبَحَ فِى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ خَآئِفًۭا يَتَرَقَّبُ فَإِذَا ٱلَّذِى ٱسْتَنصَرَهُۥ بِٱلْأَمْسِ يَسْتَصْرِخُهُۥ ۚ قَالَ لَهُۥ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّكَ لَغَوِىٌّۭ مُّبِينٌۭ
فَأَصْبَحَfa-aṣbaḥaIn the morning he wasفِىinٱلْمَدِينَةِl-madīnatithe cityخَآئِفًۭاkhāifanfearfulيَتَرَقَّبُyataraqqabu(and) was vigilantفَإِذَاfa-idhāwhen beholdٱلَّذِىalladhīThe one whoٱسْتَنصَرَهُۥis'tanṣarahusought his helpبِٱلْأَمْسِbil-amsithe previous dayيَسْتَصْرِخُهُۥ ۚyastaṣrikhuhucried out to him for helpقَالَqālaSaidلَهُۥlahuto himمُوسَىٰٓmūsāMusaإِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, youلَغَوِىٌّۭlaghawiyyun(are) surely a deviatorمُّبِينٌۭmubīnunclear
And he became inside the city fearful and anticipating [exposure], when suddenly the one who sought his help the previous day cried out to him [once again]. Moses said to him, "Indeed, you are an evident, [persistent] deviator
⤳ Link 28:18
19
فَلَمَّآ أَنْ أَرَادَ أَن يَبْطِشَ بِٱلَّذِى هُوَ عَدُوٌّۭ لَّهُمَا قَالَ يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ أَتُرِيدُ أَن تَقْتُلَنِى كَمَا قَتَلْتَ نَفْسًۢا بِٱلْأَمْسِ ۖ إِن تُرِيدُ إِلَّآ أَن تَكُونَ جَبَّارًۭا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا تُرِيدُ أَن تَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُصْلِحِينَ
فَلَمَّآfalammāThen whenأَنْan[that]أَرَادَarādahe wantedأَنantoيَبْطِشَyabṭishastrikeبِٱلَّذِىbi-alladhīthe one whoهُوَhuwa[he] (was)عَدُوٌّۭʿaduwwunan enemyلَّهُمَاlahumāto both of themقَالَqālahe saidيَـٰمُوسَىٰٓyāmūsāO MusaأَتُرِيدُaturīduDo you intendأَنantoتَقْتُلَنِىtaqtulanīkill meكَمَاkamāasقَتَلْتَqataltayou killedنَفْسًۢاnafsana personبِٱلْأَمْسِ ۖbil-amsiyesterdayإِنinNotتُرِيدُturīduyou wantإِلَّآillābutأَنanthatتَكُونَtakūnayou becomeجَبَّارًۭاjabbārana tyrantفِىinٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَمَاwamāand notتُرِيدُturīduyou wantأَنanthatتَكُونَtakūnayou beمِنَminaofٱلْمُصْلِحِينَl-muṣ'liḥīnathe reformers
And when he wanted to strike the one who was an enemy to both of them, he said, "O Moses, do you intend to kill me as you killed someone yesterday? You only want to be a tyrant in the land and do not want to be of the amenders
⤳ Link 28:19
20
وَجَآءَ رَجُلٌۭ مِّنْ أَقْصَا ٱلْمَدِينَةِ يَسْعَىٰ قَالَ يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّ ٱلْمَلَأَ يَأْتَمِرُونَ بِكَ لِيَقْتُلُوكَ فَٱخْرُجْ إِنِّى لَكَ مِنَ ٱلنَّـٰصِحِينَ
وَجَآءَwajāaAnd cameرَجُلٌۭrajuluna manمِّنْminfromأَقْصَاaqṣā(the) farthest endٱلْمَدِينَةِl-madīnati(of) the cityيَسْعَىٰyasʿārunningقَالَqālaHe saidيَـٰمُوسَىٰٓyāmūsāO MusaإِنَّinnaIndeedٱلْمَلَأَl-mala-athe chiefsيَأْتَمِرُونَyatamirūnaare taking counselبِكَbikaabout youلِيَقْتُلُوكَliyaqtulūkato kill youفَٱخْرُجْfa-ukh'rujso leaveإِنِّىinnīindeed, I amلَكَlakato youمِنَminaofٱلنَّـٰصِحِينَl-nāṣiḥīnathe sincere advisors
And a man came from the farthest end of the city, running. He said, "O Moses, indeed the eminent ones are conferring over you [intending] to kill you, so leave [the city]; indeed, I am to you of the sincere advisors
⤳ Link 28:20
21
فَخَرَجَ مِنْهَا خَآئِفًۭا يَتَرَقَّبُ ۖ قَالَ رَبِّ نَجِّنِى مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
فَخَرَجَfakharajaSo he leftمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itخَآئِفًۭاkhāifanfearingيَتَرَقَّبُ ۖyataraqqabu(and) vigilantقَالَqālaHe saidرَبِّrabbiMy LordنَجِّنِىnajjinīSave meمِنَminafromٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmithe people ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
So he left it, fearful and anticipating [apprehension]. He said, "My Lord, save me from the wrongdoing people
⤳ Link 28:21
22
وَلَمَّا تَوَجَّهَ تِلْقَآءَ مَدْيَنَ قَالَ عَسَىٰ رَبِّىٓ أَن يَهْدِيَنِى سَوَآءَ ٱلسَّبِيلِ
وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenتَوَجَّهَtawajjahahe turned his faceتِلْقَآءَtil'qāatowardsمَدْيَنَmadyanaMadyanقَالَqālahe saidعَسَىٰʿasāPerhapsرَبِّىٓrabbīmy Lordأَنan[that]يَهْدِيَنِىyahdiyanīwill guide meسَوَآءَsawāa(to the) soundٱلسَّبِيلِl-sabīliway
And when he directed himself toward Madyan, he said, "Perhaps my Lord will guide me to the sound way
⤳ Link 28:22
23
وَلَمَّا وَرَدَ مَآءَ مَدْيَنَ وَجَدَ عَلَيْهِ أُمَّةًۭ مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْقُونَ وَوَجَدَ مِن دُونِهِمُ ٱمْرَأَتَيْنِ تَذُودَانِ ۖ قَالَ مَا خَطْبُكُمَا ۖ قَالَتَا لَا نَسْقِى حَتَّىٰ يُصْدِرَ ٱلرِّعَآءُ ۖ وَأَبُونَا شَيْخٌۭ كَبِيرٌۭ
وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenوَرَدَwaradahe cameمَآءَmāa(to the) waterمَدْيَنَmadyana(of) Madyanوَجَدَwajadahe foundعَلَيْهِʿalayhion itأُمَّةًۭummatana groupمِّنَminaofٱلنَّاسِl-nāsimenيَسْقُونَyasqūnawateringوَوَجَدَwawajadaand he foundمِنminbesides themدُونِهِمُdūnihimubesides themٱمْرَأَتَيْنِim'ra-ataynitwo womenتَذُودَانِ ۖtadhūdānikeeping backقَالَqālaHe saidمَاWhatخَطْبُكُمَا ۖkhaṭbukumā(is the) matter with both of youقَالَتَاqālatāThey saidلَاWe cannot waterنَسْقِىnasqīWe cannot waterحَتَّىٰḥattāuntilيُصْدِرَyuṣ'diratake awayٱلرِّعَآءُ ۖl-riʿāuthe shepherdsوَأَبُونَاwa-abūnāand our fatherشَيْخٌۭshaykhun(is) a very old manكَبِيرٌۭkabīrun(is) a very old man
And when he came to the well of Madyan, he found there a crowd of people watering [their flocks], and he found aside from them two women driving back [their flocks]. He said, "What is your circumstance?" They said, "We do not water until the shepherds dispatch [their flocks]; and our father is an old man
⤳ Link 28:23
24
فَسَقَىٰ لَهُمَا ثُمَّ تَوَلَّىٰٓ إِلَى ٱلظِّلِّ فَقَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى لِمَآ أَنزَلْتَ إِلَىَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍۢ فَقِيرٌۭ
فَسَقَىٰfasaqāSo he wateredلَهُمَاlahumāfor themثُمَّthummaThenتَوَلَّىٰٓtawallāhe turned backإِلَىilātoٱلظِّلِّl-ẓilithe shadeفَقَالَfaqālaand saidرَبِّrabbiMy LordإِنِّىinnīIndeed, I amلِمَآlimāof whateverأَنزَلْتَanzaltaYou sendإِلَىَّilayyato meمِنْminofخَيْرٍۢkhayringoodفَقِيرٌۭfaqīrun(in) need
So he watered [their flocks] for them; then he went back to the shade and said, "My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need
⤳ Link 28:24
25
فَجَآءَتْهُ إِحْدَىٰهُمَا تَمْشِى عَلَى ٱسْتِحْيَآءٍۢ قَالَتْ إِنَّ أَبِى يَدْعُوكَ لِيَجْزِيَكَ أَجْرَ مَا سَقَيْتَ لَنَا ۚ فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُۥ وَقَصَّ عَلَيْهِ ٱلْقَصَصَ قَالَ لَا تَخَفْ ۖ نَجَوْتَ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
فَجَآءَتْهُfajāathuThen came to himإِحْدَىٰهُمَاiḥ'dāhumāone of the two womenتَمْشِىtamshīwalkingعَلَىʿalāwithٱسْتِحْيَآءٍۢis'tiḥ'yāinshynessقَالَتْqālatShe saidإِنَّinnaIndeedأَبِىabīmy fatherيَدْعُوكَyadʿūkacalls youلِيَجْزِيَكَliyajziyakathat he may reward youأَجْرَajra(the) rewardمَا(for) whatسَقَيْتَsaqaytayou wateredلَنَا ۚlanāfor usفَلَمَّاfalammāSo whenجَآءَهُۥjāahuhe came to himوَقَصَّwaqaṣṣaand narratedعَلَيْهِʿalayhito himٱلْقَصَصَl-qaṣaṣathe storyقَالَqālahe saidلَا(Do) notتَخَفْ ۖtakhaffearنَجَوْتَnajawtaYou have escapedمِنَminafromٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmithe people ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
Then one of the two women came to him walking with shyness. She said, "Indeed, my father invites you that he may reward you for having watered for us." So when he came to him and related to him the story, he said, "Fear not. You have escaped from the wrongdoing people
⤳ Link 28:25
26
قَالَتْ إِحْدَىٰهُمَا يَـٰٓأَبَتِ ٱسْتَـْٔجِرْهُ ۖ إِنَّ خَيْرَ مَنِ ٱسْتَـْٔجَرْتَ ٱلْقَوِىُّ ٱلْأَمِينُ
قَالَتْqālatSaidإِحْدَىٰهُمَاiḥ'dāhumāone of themيَـٰٓأَبَتِyāabatiO my fatherٱسْتَـْٔجِرْهُ ۖis'tajir'huHire himإِنَّinnaIndeedخَيْرَkhayra(the) bestمَنِmaniwhomٱسْتَـْٔجَرْتَis'tajartayou (can) hireٱلْقَوِىُّl-qawiyu(is) the strongٱلْأَمِينُl-amīnuthe trustworthy
One of the women said, "O my father, hire him. Indeed, the best one you can hire is the strong and the trustworthy
⤳ Link 28:26
27
قَالَ إِنِّىٓ أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُنكِحَكَ إِحْدَى ٱبْنَتَىَّ هَـٰتَيْنِ عَلَىٰٓ أَن تَأْجُرَنِى ثَمَـٰنِىَ حِجَجٍۢ ۖ فَإِنْ أَتْمَمْتَ عَشْرًۭا فَمِنْ عِندِكَ ۖ وَمَآ أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَيْكَ ۚ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
قَالَqālaHe saidإِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, Iأُرِيدُurīdu[I] wishأَنْantoأُنكِحَكَunkiḥakamarry you toإِحْدَىiḥ'dāoneٱبْنَتَىَّib'natayya(of) my daughtersهَـٰتَيْنِhātayni(of) these twoعَلَىٰٓʿalāonأَنanthatتَأْجُرَنِىtajuranīyou serve meثَمَـٰنِىَthamāniya(for) eightحِجَجٍۢ ۖḥijajinyearsفَإِنْfa-inbut ifأَتْمَمْتَatmamtayou completeعَشْرًۭاʿashrantenفَمِنْfaminthen fromعِندِكَ ۖʿindikayouوَمَآwamāAnd notأُرِيدُurīduI wishأَنْantoأَشُقَّashuqqamake it difficultعَلَيْكَ ۚʿalaykafor youسَتَجِدُنِىٓsatajidunīYou will find meإِنinifشَآءَshāaAllah willsٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah willsمِنَminaofٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous
He said, "Indeed, I wish to wed you one of these, my two daughters, on [the condition] that you serve me for eight years; but if you complete ten, it will be [as a favor] from you. And I do not wish to put you in difficulty. You will find me, if Allah wills, from among the righteous

28
قَالَ ذَٰلِكَ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكَ ۖ أَيَّمَا ٱلْأَجَلَيْنِ قَضَيْتُ فَلَا عُدْوَٰنَ عَلَىَّ ۖ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ مَا نَقُولُ وَكِيلٌۭ
قَالَqālaHe saidذَٰلِكَdhālikaThatبَيْنِىbaynī(is) between meوَبَيْنَكَ ۖwabaynakaand between youأَيَّمَاayyamāWhicheverٱلْأَجَلَيْنِl-ajalayni(of) the two termsقَضَيْتُqaḍaytuI completeفَلَاfalāthen noعُدْوَٰنَʿud'wānainjusticeعَلَىَّ ۖʿalayyato meوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahعَلَىٰʿalāoverمَاwhatنَقُولُnaqūluwe sayوَكِيلٌۭwakīlun(is) a Witness
[Moses] said, "That is [established] between me and you. Whichever of the two terms I complete - there is no injustice to me, and Allah, over what we say, is Witness
⤳ Link 28:28
29
۞ فَلَمَّا قَضَىٰ مُوسَى ٱلْأَجَلَ وَسَارَ بِأَهْلِهِۦٓ ءَانَسَ مِن جَانِبِ ٱلطُّورِ نَارًۭا قَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ ٱمْكُثُوٓا۟ إِنِّىٓ ءَانَسْتُ نَارًۭا لَّعَلِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِخَبَرٍ أَوْ جَذْوَةٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلنَّارِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَصْطَلُونَ
۞ فَلَمَّاfalammāThen whenقَضَىٰqaḍāMusa fulfilledمُوسَىmūsāMusa fulfilledٱلْأَجَلَl-ajalathe termوَسَارَwasāraand was travelingبِأَهْلِهِۦٓbi-ahlihiwith his familyءَانَسَānasahe sawمِنmininجَانِبِjānibi(the) directionٱلطُّورِl-ṭūri(of) Mount Turنَارًۭاnārana fireقَالَqālaHe saidلِأَهْلِهِli-ahlihito his familyٱمْكُثُوٓا۟um'kuthūStay hereإِنِّىٓinnīindeed, Iءَانَسْتُānastu[I] perceiveنَارًۭاnārana fireلَّعَلِّىٓlaʿallīPerhapsءَاتِيكُمātīkumI will bring youمِّنْهَاmin'hāfrom thereبِخَبَرٍbikhabarinsome informationأَوْaworجَذْوَةٍۢjadhwatina burning woodمِّنَminafromٱلنَّارِl-nārithe fireلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَصْطَلُونَtaṣṭalūnawarm yourselves
And when Moses had completed the term and was traveling with his family, he perceived from the direction of the mount a fire. He said to his family, "Stay here; indeed, I have perceived a fire. Perhaps I will bring you from there [some] information or burning wood from the fire that you may warm yourselves
⤳ Link 28:29
30
فَلَمَّآ أَتَىٰهَا نُودِىَ مِن شَـٰطِئِ ٱلْوَادِ ٱلْأَيْمَنِ فِى ٱلْبُقْعَةِ ٱلْمُبَـٰرَكَةِ مِنَ ٱلشَّجَرَةِ أَن يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِنِّىٓ أَنَا ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
فَلَمَّآfalammāBut whenأَتَىٰهَاatāhāhe came (to) itنُودِىَnūdiyahe was calledمِنminfromشَـٰطِئِshāṭi-i(the) sideٱلْوَادِl-wādi(of) the valley ٱلْأَيْمَنِl-aymanithe rightفِىinٱلْبُقْعَةِl-buq'ʿatithe place evenٱلْمُبَـٰرَكَةِl-mubārakatiblessedمِنَminafromٱلشَّجَرَةِl-shajaratithe treeأَنanthatيَـٰمُوسَىٰٓyāmūsāO MusaإِنِّىٓinnīIndeedأَنَاanāI Amٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahرَبُّrabbu(the) Lordٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
But when he came to it, he was called from the right side of the valley in a blessed spot - from the tree, "O Moses, indeed I am Allah, Lord of the worlds
⤳ Link 28:30
31
وَأَنْ أَلْقِ عَصَاكَ ۖ فَلَمَّا رَءَاهَا تَهْتَزُّ كَأَنَّهَا جَآنٌّۭ وَلَّىٰ مُدْبِرًۭا وَلَمْ يُعَقِّبْ ۚ يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ أَقْبِلْ وَلَا تَخَفْ ۖ إِنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْـَٔامِنِينَ
وَأَنْwa-anAnd [that]أَلْقِalqithrowعَصَاكَ ۖʿaṣākayour staffفَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenرَءَاهَاraāhāhe saw itتَهْتَزُّtahtazzumovingكَأَنَّهَاka-annahāas if itجَآنٌّۭjānnun(were) a snakeوَلَّىٰwallāhe turnedمُدْبِرًۭاmud'biran(in) flightوَلَمْwalamand (did) notيُعَقِّبْ ۚyuʿaqqibreturnيَـٰمُوسَىٰٓyāmūsāO MusaأَقْبِلْaqbilDraw nearوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَخَفْ ۖtakhaffearإِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, youمِنَmina(are) ofٱلْـَٔامِنِينَl-āminīnathe secure
And [he was told], "Throw down your staff." But when he saw it writhing as if it was a snake, he turned in flight and did not return. [Allah said], "O Moses, approach and fear not. Indeed, you are of the secure
⤳ Link 28:31
32
ٱسْلُكْ يَدَكَ فِى جَيْبِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَآءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوٓءٍۢ وَٱضْمُمْ إِلَيْكَ جَنَاحَكَ مِنَ ٱلرَّهْبِ ۖ فَذَٰنِكَ بُرْهَـٰنَانِ مِن رَّبِّكَ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمًۭا فَـٰسِقِينَ
ٱسْلُكْus'lukInsertيَدَكَyadakayour handفِىinجَيْبِكَjaybikayour bosomتَخْرُجْtakhrujit will come forthبَيْضَآءَbayḍāawhiteمِنْminwithoutغَيْرِghayriwithoutسُوٓءٍۢsūinany harmوَٱضْمُمْwa-uḍ'mumAnd drawإِلَيْكَilaykato yourselvesجَنَاحَكَjanāḥakayour handمِنَminaagainstٱلرَّهْبِ ۖl-rahbifearفَذَٰنِكَfadhānikaSo theseبُرْهَـٰنَانِbur'hānāni(are) two evidencesمِنminfromرَّبِّكَrabbikayour Lordإِلَىٰilātoفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraunوَمَلَإِي۟هِۦٓ ۚwamala-ihiand his chiefsإِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, theyكَانُوا۟kānūareقَوْمًۭاqawmana peopleفَـٰسِقِينَfāsiqīnadefiantly disobedient
Insert your hand into the opening of your garment; it will come out white, without disease. And draw in your arm close to you [as prevention] from fear, for those are two proofs from your Lord to Pharaoh and his establishment. Indeed, they have been a people defiantly disobedient
⤳ Link 28:32
33
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى قَتَلْتُ مِنْهُمْ نَفْسًۭا فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ
قَالَqālaHe saidرَبِّrabbiMy LordإِنِّىinnīIndeedقَتَلْتُqataltuI killedمِنْهُمْmin'humof themنَفْسًۭاnafsana manفَأَخَافُfa-akhāfuand I fearأَنanthatيَقْتُلُونِyaqtulūnithey will kill me
He said, "My Lord, indeed, I killed from among them someone, and I fear they will kill me
⤳ Link 28:33
34
وَأَخِى هَـٰرُونُ هُوَ أَفْصَحُ مِنِّى لِسَانًۭا فَأَرْسِلْهُ مَعِىَ رِدْءًۭا يُصَدِّقُنِىٓ ۖ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ
وَأَخِىwa-akhīAnd my brotherهَـٰرُونُhārūnuHarunهُوَhuwaheأَفْصَحُafṣaḥu(is) more eloquentمِنِّىminnīthan meلِسَانًۭاlisānan(in) speechفَأَرْسِلْهُfa-arsil'huso send himمَعِىَmaʿiyawith meرِدْءًۭاrid'an(as) a helperيُصَدِّقُنِىٓ ۖyuṣaddiqunīwho will confirm meإِنِّىٓinnīIndeedأَخَافُakhāfuI fearأَنanthatيُكَذِّبُونِyukadhibūnithey will deny me
And my brother Aaron is more fluent than me in tongue, so send him with me as support, verifying me. Indeed, I fear that they will deny me
⤳ Link 28:34
35
قَالَ سَنَشُدُّ عَضُدَكَ بِأَخِيكَ وَنَجْعَلُ لَكُمَا سُلْطَـٰنًۭا فَلَا يَصِلُونَ إِلَيْكُمَا ۚ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ أَنتُمَا وَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكُمَا ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ
قَالَqālaHe saidسَنَشُدُّsanashudduWe will strengthenعَضُدَكَʿaḍudakayour armبِأَخِيكَbi-akhīkathrough your brotherوَنَجْعَلُwanajʿaluand We will makeلَكُمَاlakumāfor both of youسُلْطَـٰنًۭاsul'ṭānanan authorityفَلَاfalāso notيَصِلُونَyaṣilūnathey will reachإِلَيْكُمَا ۚilaykumāto both of youبِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآbiāyātināThrough Our Signsأَنتُمَاantumāyou twoوَمَنِwamaniand (those) whoٱتَّبَعَكُمَاittabaʿakumāfollow youٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَl-ghālibūna(will) be the dominant
[Allah] said, "We will strengthen your arm through your brother and grant you both supremacy so they will not reach you. [It will be] through Our signs; you and those who follow you will be the predominant
⤳ Link 28:35
36
فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُم مُّوسَىٰ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا بَيِّنَـٰتٍۢ قَالُوا۟ مَا هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌۭ مُّفْتَرًۭى وَمَا سَمِعْنَا بِهَـٰذَا فِىٓ ءَابَآئِنَا ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
فَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenجَآءَهُمjāahumcame to themمُّوسَىٰmūsāMusaبِـَٔايَـٰتِنَاbiāyātināwith Our Signsبَيِّنَـٰتٍۢbayyinātinclearقَالُوا۟qālūthey saidمَاNotهَـٰذَآhādhā(is) thisإِلَّاillāexceptسِحْرٌۭsiḥ'runa magicمُّفْتَرًۭىmuf'taraninventedوَمَاwamāand notسَمِعْنَاsamiʿ'nāwe heardبِهَـٰذَاbihādhāof thisفِىٓamongءَابَآئِنَاābāināour forefathersٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīnaour forefathers
But when Moses came to them with Our signs as clear evidences, they said, "This is not except invented magic, and we have not heard of this [religion] among our forefathers
⤳ Link 28:36
37
وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ رَبِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن جَآءَ بِٱلْهُدَىٰ مِنْ عِندِهِۦ وَمَن تَكُونُ لَهُۥ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلدَّارِ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ
وَقَالَwaqālaAnd Musa saidمُوسَىٰmūsāAnd Musa saidرَبِّىٓrabbīMy Lordأَعْلَمُaʿlamuknows bestبِمَنbimanof whoجَآءَjāahas comeبِٱلْهُدَىٰbil-hudāwith [the] guidanceمِنْminfrom Himعِندِهِۦʿindihifrom Himوَمَنwamanand who تَكُونُtakūnuwill beلَهُۥlahufor himعَـٰقِبَةُʿāqibatuthe good end in the Hereafterٱلدَّارِ ۖl-dārithe good end in the HereafterإِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeedلَاnotيُفْلِحُyuf'liḥuwill be successfulٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَl-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoers
And Moses said, "My Lord is more knowing [than we or you] of who has come with guidance from Him and to whom will be succession in the home. Indeed, wrongdoers do not succeed
⤳ Link 28:37
38
وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمَلَأُ مَا عَلِمْتُ لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَـٰهٍ غَيْرِى فَأَوْقِدْ لِى يَـٰهَـٰمَـٰنُ عَلَى ٱلطِّينِ فَٱجْعَل لِّى صَرْحًۭا لَّعَلِّىٓ أَطَّلِعُ إِلَىٰٓ إِلَـٰهِ مُوسَىٰ وَإِنِّى لَأَظُنُّهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَ
وَقَالَwaqālaAnd Firaun saidفِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuAnd Firaun saidيَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO chiefsٱلْمَلَأُl-mala-uO chiefsمَاNotعَلِمْتُʿalim'tuI knowلَكُمlakumfor youمِّنْminanyإِلَـٰهٍilāhingodغَيْرِىghayrīother than meفَأَوْقِدْfa-awqidSo kindleلِىfor meيَـٰهَـٰمَـٰنُyāhāmānuO HamanعَلَىʿalāUponٱلطِّينِl-ṭīnithe clayفَٱجْعَلfa-ij'ʿaland makeلِّىfor meصَرْحًۭاṣarḥana lofty towerلَّعَلِّىٓlaʿallīso that [I]أَطَّلِعُaṭṭaliʿuI may lookإِلَىٰٓilāatإِلَـٰهِilāhi(the) Godمُوسَىٰmūsā(of) Musaوَإِنِّىwa-innīAnd indeed, Iلَأَظُنُّهُۥla-aẓunnuhu[I] think that heمِنَmina(is) ofٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَl-kādhibīnathe liars
And Pharaoh said, "O eminent ones, I have not known you to have a god other than me. Then ignite for me, O Haman, [a fire] upon the clay and make for me a tower that I may look at the God of Moses. And indeed, I do think he is among the liars
⤳ Link 28:38
39
وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ هُوَ وَجُنُودُهُۥ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ وَظَنُّوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَا يُرْجَعُونَ
وَٱسْتَكْبَرَwa-is'takbaraAnd he was arrogantهُوَhuwaAnd he was arrogantوَجُنُودُهُۥwajunūduhuand his hostsفِىinٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe landبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutٱلْحَقِّl-ḥaqirightوَظَنُّوٓا۟waẓannūand they thoughtأَنَّهُمْannahumthat theyإِلَيْنَاilaynāto Usلَاnotيُرْجَعُونَyur'jaʿūnawill be returned
And he was arrogant, he and his soldiers, in the land, without right, and they thought that they would not be returned to Us
⤳ Link 28:39
40
فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُ وَجُنُودَهُۥ فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ ۖ فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُfa-akhadhnāhuSo We seized himوَجُنُودَهُۥwajunūdahuand his hostsفَنَبَذْنَـٰهُمْfanabadhnāhumand We threw themفِىinٱلْيَمِّ ۖl-yamithe seaفَٱنظُرْfa-unẓurSo seeكَيْفَkayfahowكَانَkānawasعَـٰقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) endٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīna(of) the wrongdoers
So We took him and his soldiers and threw them into the sea. So see how was the end of the wrongdoers
⤳ Link 28:40
41
وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ أَئِمَّةًۭ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِ ۖ وَيَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ لَا يُنصَرُونَ
وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْwajaʿalnāhumAnd We made themأَئِمَّةًۭa-immatanleadersيَدْعُونَyadʿūnainvitingإِلَىilātoٱلنَّارِ ۖl-nārithe Fireوَيَوْمَwayawmaand (on the) Dayٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionلَاnotيُنصَرُونَyunṣarūnathey will be helped
And We made them leaders inviting to the Fire, and on the Day of Resurrection they will not be helped
⤳ Link 28:41
42
وَأَتْبَعْنَـٰهُمْ فِى هَـٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنْيَا لَعْنَةًۭ ۖ وَيَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ هُم مِّنَ ٱلْمَقْبُوحِينَ
وَأَتْبَعْنَـٰهُمْwa-atbaʿnāhumAnd We caused to follow themفِىinهَـٰذِهِhādhihithisٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāworldلَعْنَةًۭ ۖlaʿnatana curseوَيَوْمَwayawmaand (on the) Dayٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionهُمhumtheyمِّنَmina(will be) ofٱلْمَقْبُوحِينَl-maqbūḥīnathe despised
And We caused to overtake them in this world a curse, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be of the despised
⤳ Link 28:42
43
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَآ أَهْلَكْنَا ٱلْقُرُونَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ بَصَآئِرَ لِلنَّاسِ وَهُدًۭى وَرَحْمَةًۭ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verilyءَاتَيْنَاātaynāWe gaveمُوسَىmūsāMusaٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Scriptureمِنۢminafter [what]بَعْدِbaʿdiafter [what]مَآafter [what]أَهْلَكْنَاahlaknāWe had destroyedٱلْقُرُونَl-qurūnathe generationsٱلْأُولَىٰl-ūlāformerبَصَآئِرَbaṣāira(as) an enlightenmentلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor the mankindوَهُدًۭىwahudanand a guidanceوَرَحْمَةًۭwaraḥmatanand mercyلَّعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumthat they mayيَتَذَكَّرُونَyatadhakkarūnaremember
And We gave Moses the Scripture, after We had destroyed the former generations, as enlightenment for the people and guidance and mercy that they might be reminded
⤳ Link 28:43
44
وَمَا كُنتَ بِجَانِبِ ٱلْغَرْبِىِّ إِذْ قَضَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَى ٱلْأَمْرَ وَمَا كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَ
وَمَاwamāAnd notكُنتَkuntayou wereبِجَانِبِbijānibion (the) sideٱلْغَرْبِىِّl-gharbiyiwesternإِذْidhwhenقَضَيْنَآqaḍaynāWe decreedإِلَىٰilātoمُوسَىmūsāMusaٱلْأَمْرَl-amrathe Commandmentوَمَاwamāand notكُنتَkuntayou wereمِنَminaamongٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَl-shāhidīnathe witnesses
And you, [O Muhammad], were not on the western side [of the mount] when We revealed to Moses the command, and you were not among the witnesses [to that]
⤳ Link 28:44
45
وَلَـٰكِنَّآ أَنشَأْنَا قُرُونًۭا فَتَطَاوَلَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْعُمُرُ ۚ وَمَا كُنتَ ثَاوِيًۭا فِىٓ أَهْلِ مَدْيَنَ تَتْلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَـٰتِنَا وَلَـٰكِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ
وَلَـٰكِنَّآwalākinnāBut Weأَنشَأْنَاanshanā[We] producedقُرُونًۭاqurūnangenerationsفَتَطَاوَلَfataṭāwalaand prolongedعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimufor themٱلْعُمُرُ ۚl-ʿumuruthe lifeوَمَاwamāAnd notكُنتَkuntayou wereثَاوِيًۭاthāwiyana dwellerفِىٓamongأَهْلِahli(the) peopleمَدْيَنَmadyana(of) Madyanتَتْلُوا۟tatlūrecitingعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themءَايَـٰتِنَاāyātināOur Versesوَلَـٰكِنَّاwalākinnābut Weكُنَّاkunnā[We] wereمُرْسِلِينَmur'silīnathe Senders
But We produced [many] generations [after Moses], and prolonged was their duration. And you were not a resident among the people of Madyan, reciting to them Our verses, but We were senders [of this message]
⤳ Link 28:45
46
وَمَا كُنتَ بِجَانِبِ ٱلطُّورِ إِذْ نَادَيْنَا وَلَـٰكِن رَّحْمَةًۭ مِّن رَّبِّكَ لِتُنذِرَ قَوْمًۭا مَّآ أَتَىٰهُم مِّن نَّذِيرٍۢ مِّن قَبْلِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
وَمَاwamāAnd notكُنتَkuntayou wereبِجَانِبِbijānibiat (the) sideٱلطُّورِl-ṭūri(of) the TurإِذْidhwhenنَادَيْنَاnādaynāWe calledوَلَـٰكِنwalākinButرَّحْمَةًۭraḥmatan(as) a mercyمِّنminfromرَّبِّكَrabbikayour Lordلِتُنذِرَlitundhiraso that you warnقَوْمًۭاqawmana peopleمَّآnotأَتَىٰهُمatāhum(had) come to themمِّنminanyنَّذِيرٍۢnadhīrinwarnerمِّنminbefore youقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَتَذَكَّرُونَyatadhakkarūnaremember
And you were not at the side of the mount when We called [Moses] but [were sent] as a mercy from your Lord to warn a people to whom no warner had come before you that they might be reminded
⤳ Link 28:46
47
وَلَوْلَآ أَن تُصِيبَهُم مُّصِيبَةٌۢ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ فَيَقُولُوا۟ رَبَّنَا لَوْلَآ أَرْسَلْتَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولًۭا فَنَتَّبِعَ ءَايَـٰتِكَ وَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
وَلَوْلَآwalawlāAnd if notأَنan[that]تُصِيبَهُمtuṣībahumstruck themمُّصِيبَةٌۢmuṣībatuna disasterبِمَاbimāfor whatقَدَّمَتْqaddamathad sent forthأَيْدِيهِمْaydīhimtheir handsفَيَقُولُوا۟fayaqūlūand they would sayرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur LordلَوْلَآlawlāWhy notأَرْسَلْتَarsaltaYou sentإِلَيْنَاilaynāto usرَسُولًۭاrasūlana Messengerفَنَتَّبِعَfanattabiʿaso we (could have) followedءَايَـٰتِكَāyātikaYour Versesوَنَكُونَwanakūnaand we (would) have beenمِنَminaofٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers
And if not that a disaster should strike them for what their hands put forth [of sins] and they would say, "Our Lord, why did You not send us a messenger so we could have followed Your verses and been among the believers
⤳ Link 28:47
48
فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْحَقُّ مِنْ عِندِنَا قَالُوا۟ لَوْلَآ أُوتِىَ مِثْلَ مَآ أُوتِىَ مُوسَىٰٓ ۚ أَوَلَمْ يَكْفُرُوا۟ بِمَآ أُوتِىَ مُوسَىٰ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ قَالُوا۟ سِحْرَانِ تَظَـٰهَرَا وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا بِكُلٍّۢ كَـٰفِرُونَ
فَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenجَآءَهُمُjāahumucame to themٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaquthe truthمِنْminfrom Usعِندِنَاʿindināfrom Usقَالُوا۟qālūthey saidلَوْلَآlawlāWhy notأُوتِىَūtiyahe was givenمِثْلَmith'la(the) likeمَآ(of) whatأُوتِىَūtiyawas givenمُوسَىٰٓ ۚmūsā(to) MusaأَوَلَمْawalamDid notيَكْفُرُوا۟yakfurūthey disbelieveبِمَآbimāin whatأُوتِىَūtiyawas givenمُوسَىٰmūsā(to) Musaمِنminbeforeقَبْلُ ۖqablubeforeقَالُوا۟qālūThey saidسِحْرَانِsiḥ'rāniTwo magic (works)تَظَـٰهَرَاtaẓāharāsupporting each otherوَقَالُوٓا۟waqālūAnd they saidإِنَّاinnāIndeed, weبِكُلٍّۢbikullinin allكَـٰفِرُونَkāfirūna(are) disbelievers
But when the truth came to them from Us, they said, "Why was he not given like that which was given to Moses?" Did they not disbelieve in that which was given to Moses before? They said, "[They are but] two works of magic supporting each other, and indeed we are, in both, disbelievers
⤳ Link 28:48
49
قُلْ فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَـٰبٍۢ مِّنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ هُوَ أَهْدَىٰ مِنْهُمَآ أَتَّبِعْهُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
قُلْqulSayفَأْتُوا۟fatūThen bringبِكِتَـٰبٍۢbikitābina Bookمِّنْminfrom Allahعِندِʿindifrom Allahٱللَّهِl-lahifrom Allahهُوَhuwawhichأَهْدَىٰahdā(is) a better guideمِنْهُمَآmin'humāthan both of themأَتَّبِعْهُattabiʿ'huthat I may follow itإِنinifكُنتُمْkuntumyou areصَـٰدِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
Say, "Then bring a scripture from Allah which is more guiding than either of them that I may follow it, if you should be truthful
⤳ Link 28:49
50
فَإِن لَّمْ يَسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لَكَ فَٱعْلَمْ أَنَّمَا يَتَّبِعُونَ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ ۚ وَمَنْ أَضَلُّ مِمَّنِ ٱتَّبَعَ هَوَىٰهُ بِغَيْرِ هُدًۭى مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
فَإِنfa-inBut ifلَّمْlamnotيَسْتَجِيبُوا۟yastajībūthey respondلَكَlakato youفَٱعْلَمْfa-iʿ'lamthen knowأَنَّمَاannamāthat onlyيَتَّبِعُونَyattabiʿūnathey followأَهْوَآءَهُمْ ۚahwāahumtheir desiresوَمَنْwamanAnd whoأَضَلُّaḍallu(is) more astrayمِمَّنِmimmanithan (one) whoٱتَّبَعَittabaʿafollowsهَوَىٰهُhawāhuhis own desireبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutهُدًۭىhudanguidanceمِّنَminafromٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahiAllahإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَا(does) notيَهْدِىyahdīguideٱلْقَوْمَl-qawmathe people ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
But if they do not respond to you - then know that they only follow their [own] desires. And who is more astray than one who follows his desire without guidance from Allah? Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people
⤳ Link 28:50
51
۞ وَلَقَدْ وَصَّلْنَا لَهُمُ ٱلْقَوْلَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
۞ وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd indeedوَصَّلْنَاwaṣṣalnāWe have conveyedلَهُمُlahumuto themٱلْقَوْلَl-qawlathe Wordلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَتَذَكَّرُونَyatadhakkarūnaremember
And We have [repeatedly] conveyed to them the Qur'an that they might be reminded
⤳ Link 28:51
52
ٱلَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ مِن قَبْلِهِۦ هُم بِهِۦ يُؤْمِنُونَ
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُātaynāhumuWe gave themٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Scriptureمِنminbefore itقَبْلِهِۦqablihibefore itهُمhumtheyبِهِۦbihiin itيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
Those to whom We gave the Scripture before it - they are believers in it
⤳ Link 28:52
53
وَإِذَا يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦٓ إِنَّهُ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلِهِۦ مُسْلِمِينَ
وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenيُتْلَىٰyut'lāit is recitedعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themقَالُوٓا۟qālūthey sayءَامَنَّاāmannāWe believeبِهِۦٓbihiin itإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed, itٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) the truthمِنminfromرَّبِّنَآrabbināour LordإِنَّاinnāIndeed, weكُنَّاkunnā[we] wereمِنminbefore itقَبْلِهِۦqablihibefore itمُسْلِمِينَmus'limīnaMuslims
And when it is recited to them, they say, "We have believed in it; indeed, it is the truth from our Lord. Indeed we were, [even] before it, Muslims [submitting to Allah]
⤳ Link 28:53
54
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ يُؤْتَوْنَ أَجْرَهُم مَّرَّتَيْنِ بِمَا صَبَرُوا۟ وَيَدْرَءُونَ بِٱلْحَسَنَةِ ٱلسَّيِّئَةَ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَـٰهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThoseيُؤْتَوْنَyu'tawnawill be givenأَجْرَهُمajrahumtheir rewardمَّرَّتَيْنِmarrataynitwiceبِمَاbimābecauseصَبَرُوا۟ṣabarūthey are patientوَيَدْرَءُونَwayadraūnaand they repelبِٱلْحَسَنَةِbil-ḥasanatiwith good ٱلسَّيِّئَةَl-sayi-atathe evilوَمِمَّاwamimmāand from whatرَزَقْنَـٰهُمْrazaqnāhumWe have provided themيُنفِقُونَyunfiqūnathey spend
Those will be given their reward twice for what they patiently endured and [because] they avert evil through good, and from what We have provided them they spend
⤳ Link 28:54
55
وَإِذَا سَمِعُوا۟ ٱللَّغْوَ أَعْرَضُوا۟ عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا۟ لَنَآ أَعْمَـٰلُنَا وَلَكُمْ أَعْمَـٰلُكُمْ سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ لَا نَبْتَغِى ٱلْجَـٰهِلِينَ
وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenسَمِعُوا۟samiʿūthey hearٱللَّغْوَl-laghwavain talkأَعْرَضُوا۟aʿraḍūthey turn awayعَنْهُʿanhufrom itوَقَالُوا۟waqālūand sayلَنَآlanāFor usأَعْمَـٰلُنَاaʿmālunāour deedsوَلَكُمْwalakumand for youأَعْمَـٰلُكُمْaʿmālukumyour deedsسَلَـٰمٌsalāmunPeace (be)عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumon youلَاnotنَبْتَغِىnabtaghīwe seekٱلْجَـٰهِلِينَl-jāhilīnathe ignorant
And when they hear ill speech, they turn away from it and say, "For us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds. Peace will be upon you; we seek not the ignorant
⤳ Link 28:55
56
إِنَّكَ لَا تَهْدِى مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ
إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, youلَا(can) notتَهْدِىtahdīguideمَنْmanwhomأَحْبَبْتَaḥbabtayou loveوَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnabutٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَهْدِىyahdīguidesمَنmanwhomيَشَآءُ ۚyashāuHe willsوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heأَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) most knowingبِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَbil-muh'tadīna(of) the guided ones
Indeed, [O Muhammad], you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He wills. And He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided
⤳ Link 28:56
57
وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِن نَّتَّبِعِ ٱلْهُدَىٰ مَعَكَ نُتَخَطَّفْ مِنْ أَرْضِنَآ ۚ أَوَلَمْ نُمَكِّن لَّهُمْ حَرَمًا ءَامِنًۭا يُجْبَىٰٓ إِلَيْهِ ثَمَرَٰتُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ رِّزْقًۭا مِّن لَّدُنَّا وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
وَقَالُوٓا۟waqālūAnd they sayإِنinIfنَّتَّبِعِnattabiʿiwe followٱلْهُدَىٰl-hudāthe guidanceمَعَكَmaʿakawith youنُتَخَطَّفْnutakhaṭṭafwe would be sweptمِنْminfromأَرْضِنَآ ۚarḍināour landأَوَلَمْawalamHave notنُمَكِّنnumakkinWe establishedلَّهُمْlahumfor themحَرَمًاḥaramana sanctuaryءَامِنًۭاāminansecureيُجْبَىٰٓyuj'bāare broughtإِلَيْهِilayhito itثَمَرَٰتُthamarātufruitsكُلِّkulli(of) allشَىْءٍۢshayinthingsرِّزْقًۭاriz'qana provisionمِّنminfromلَّدُنَّاladunnāUsوَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnaButأَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahummost of themلَا(do) notيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
And they say, "If we were to follow the guidance with you, we would be swept from our land." Have we not established for them a safe sanctuary to which are brought the fruits of all things as provision from Us? But most of them do not know
⤳ Link 28:57
58
وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍۭ بَطِرَتْ مَعِيشَتَهَا ۖ فَتِلْكَ مَسَـٰكِنُهُمْ لَمْ تُسْكَن مِّنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا ۖ وَكُنَّا نَحْنُ ٱلْوَٰرِثِينَ
وَكَمْwakamAnd how manyأَهْلَكْنَاahlaknāWe have destroyedمِنminofقَرْيَةٍۭqaryatina townبَطِرَتْbaṭiratwhich exultedمَعِيشَتَهَا ۖmaʿīshatahā(in) its means of livelihoodفَتِلْكَfatil'kaAnd theseمَسَـٰكِنُهُمْmasākinuhum(are) their dwellingsلَمْlamnotتُسْكَنtus'kanhave been inhabitedمِّنۢminafter themبَعْدِهِمْbaʿdihimafter themإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلًۭا ۖqalīlana littleوَكُنَّاwakunnāAnd indeed, [We]نَحْنُnaḥnuWeٱلْوَٰرِثِينَl-wārithīna(are) the inheritors
And how many a city have We destroyed that was insolent in its [way of] living, and those are their dwellings which have not been inhabited after them except briefly. And it is We who were the inheritors
⤳ Link 28:58
59
وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ مُهْلِكَ ٱلْقُرَىٰ حَتَّىٰ يَبْعَثَ فِىٓ أُمِّهَا رَسُولًۭا يَتْلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَـٰتِنَا ۚ وَمَا كُنَّا مُهْلِكِى ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ إِلَّا وَأَهْلُهَا ظَـٰلِمُونَ
وَمَاwamāAnd notكَانَkānawasرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lordمُهْلِكَmuh'lika(the) one to destroyٱلْقُرَىٰl-qurāthe townsحَتَّىٰḥattāuntilيَبْعَثَyabʿathaHe (had) sentفِىٓinأُمِّهَاummihātheir mother (town)رَسُولًۭاrasūlana Messengerيَتْلُوا۟yatlūrecitingعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themءَايَـٰتِنَا ۚāyātināOur VersesوَمَاwamāAnd notكُنَّاkunnāWe would beمُهْلِكِىmuh'likī(the) one to destroyٱلْقُرَىٰٓl-qurāthe townsإِلَّاillāexceptوَأَهْلُهَاwa-ahluhāwhile their peopleظَـٰلِمُونَẓālimūna(were) wrongdoers
And never would your Lord have destroyed the cities until He had sent to their mother a messenger reciting to them Our verses. And We would not destroy the cities except while their people were wrongdoers
⤳ Link 28:59
60
وَمَآ أُوتِيتُم مِّن شَىْءٍۢ فَمَتَـٰعُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَزِينَتُهَا ۚ وَمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ خَيْرٌۭ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ ۚ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
وَمَآwamāAnd whateverأُوتِيتُمūtītumyou have been givenمِّنminfromشَىْءٍۢshayinthingsفَمَتَـٰعُfamatāʿu(is) an enjoymentٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayati(of the) lifeٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldوَزِينَتُهَا ۚwazīnatuhāand its adornmentوَمَاwamāAnd whatعِندَʿinda(is) withٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahخَيْرٌۭkhayrun(is) betterوَأَبْقَىٰٓ ۚwa-abqāand more lastingأَفَلَاafalāSo (will) notتَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūnayou use intellect
And whatever thing you [people] have been given - it is [only for] the enjoyment of worldly life and its adornment. And what is with Allah is better and more lasting; so will you not use reason
⤳ Link 28:60
61
أَفَمَن وَعَدْنَـٰهُ وَعْدًا حَسَنًۭا فَهُوَ لَـٰقِيهِ كَمَن مَّتَّعْنَـٰهُ مَتَـٰعَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ثُمَّ هُوَ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ
أَفَمَنafamanThen is (he) whomوَعَدْنَـٰهُwaʿadnāhuWe have promised himوَعْدًاwaʿdana promiseحَسَنًۭاḥasanangoodفَهُوَfahuwaand heلَـٰقِيهِlāqīhi(will) meet itكَمَنkamanlike (the one) whomمَّتَّعْنَـٰهُmattaʿnāhuWe provided himمَتَـٰعَmatāʿaenjoymentٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayati(of the) lifeٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldثُمَّthummathenهُوَhuwaheيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionمِنَmina(will be) amongٱلْمُحْضَرِينَl-muḥ'ḍarīnathose presented
Then is he whom We have promised a good promise which he will obtain like he for whom We provided enjoyment of worldly life [but] then he is, on the Day of Resurrection, among those presented [for punishment in Hell]
⤳ Link 28:61
62
وَيَوْمَ يُنَادِيهِمْ فَيَقُولُ أَيْنَ شُرَكَآءِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ كُنتُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ
وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (the) DayيُنَادِيهِمْyunādīhimHe will call themفَيَقُولُfayaqūluand sayأَيْنَaynaWhereشُرَكَآءِىَshurakāiya(are) My partnersٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawhomكُنتُمْkuntumyou used (to)تَزْعُمُونَtazʿumūnaclaim
And [warn of] the Day He will call them and say, "Where are My 'partners' which you used to claim
⤳ Link 28:62
63
قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ حَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقَوْلُ رَبَّنَا هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ ٱلَّذِينَ أَغْوَيْنَآ أَغْوَيْنَـٰهُمْ كَمَا غَوَيْنَا ۖ تَبَرَّأْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ۖ مَا كَانُوٓا۟ إِيَّانَا يَعْبُدُونَ
قَالَqāla(Will) sayٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose حَقَّḥaqqa(has) come trueعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuagainst whomٱلْقَوْلُl-qawluthe WordرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur LordهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِhāulāiTheseٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(are) those whomأَغْوَيْنَآaghwaynāwe led astrayأَغْوَيْنَـٰهُمْaghwaynāhumWe led them astrayكَمَاkamāasغَوَيْنَا ۖghawaynāwe were astrayتَبَرَّأْنَآtabarranāWe declare our innocenceإِلَيْكَ ۖilaykabefore YouمَاNotكَانُوٓا۟kānūthey used (to)إِيَّانَاiyyānāworship usيَعْبُدُونَyaʿbudūnaworship us
Those upon whom the word will have come into effect will say, "Our Lord, these are the ones we led to error. We led them to error just as we were in error. We declare our disassociation [from them] to You. They did not used to worship us
⤳ Link 28:63
64
وَقِيلَ ٱدْعُوا۟ شُرَكَآءَكُمْ فَدَعَوْهُمْ فَلَمْ يَسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لَهُمْ وَرَأَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ۚ لَوْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ يَهْتَدُونَ
وَقِيلَwaqīlaAnd it will be saidٱدْعُوا۟id'ʿūCallشُرَكَآءَكُمْshurakāakumyour partnersفَدَعَوْهُمْfadaʿawhumAnd they will call themفَلَمْfalambut notيَسْتَجِيبُوا۟yastajībūthey will respondلَهُمْlahumto themوَرَأَوُا۟wara-awūand they will seeٱلْعَذَابَ ۚl-ʿadhābathe punishmentلَوْlawIf onlyأَنَّهُمْannahum[that] theyكَانُوا۟kānūhad beenيَهْتَدُونَyahtadūnaguided
And it will be said, "Invoke your 'partners' " and they will invoke them; but they will not respond to them, and they will see the punishment. If only they had followed guidance
⤳ Link 28:64
65
وَيَوْمَ يُنَادِيهِمْ فَيَقُولُ مَاذَآ أَجَبْتُمُ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (the) DayيُنَادِيهِمْyunādīhimHe will call themفَيَقُولُfayaqūluand sayمَاذَآmādhāWhatأَجَبْتُمُajabtumudid you answerٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers
And [mention] the Day He will call them and say, "What did you answer the messengers
⤳ Link 28:65
66
فَعَمِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْأَنۢبَآءُ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ فَهُمْ لَا يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
فَعَمِيَتْfaʿamiyatBut (will) be obscureعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuto themٱلْأَنۢبَآءُl-anbāuthe informationيَوْمَئِذٍۢyawma-idhinthat dayفَهُمْfahumso theyلَاwill not ask one anotherيَتَسَآءَلُونَyatasāalūnawill not ask one another
But the information will be unapparent to them that Day, so they will not [be able to] ask one another
⤳ Link 28:66
67
فَأَمَّا مَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَـٰلِحًۭا فَعَسَىٰٓ أَن يَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُفْلِحِينَ
فَأَمَّاfa-ammāBut as forمَنman(him) whoتَابَtābarepentedوَءَامَنَwaāmanaand believedوَعَمِلَwaʿamilaand didصَـٰلِحًۭاṣāliḥanrighteousnessفَعَسَىٰٓfaʿasāthen perhapsأَنan[that]يَكُونَyakūnahe will beمِنَminaofٱلْمُفْلِحِينَl-muf'liḥīnathe successful ones
But as for one who had repented, believed, and done righteousness, it is promised by Allah that he will be among the successful
⤳ Link 28:67
68
وَرَبُّكَ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُ وَيَخْتَارُ ۗ مَا كَانَ لَهُمُ ٱلْخِيَرَةُ ۚ سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
وَرَبُّكَwarabbukaAnd your LordيَخْلُقُyakhluqucreatesمَاwhatيَشَآءُyashāuHe willsوَيَخْتَارُ ۗwayakhtāruand choosesمَاNotكَانَkānathey haveلَهُمُlahumufor themٱلْخِيَرَةُ ۚl-khiyaratuthe choiceسُبْحَـٰنَsub'ḥānaGlory beٱللَّهِl-lahi(to) Allahوَتَعَـٰلَىٰwataʿālāand High is Heعَمَّاʿammāabove whatيُشْرِكُونَyush'rikūnathey associate (with Him)
And your Lord creates what He wills and chooses; not for them was the choice. Exalted is Allah and high above what they associate with Him
⤳ Link 28:68
69
وَرَبُّكَ يَعْلَمُ مَا تُكِنُّ صُدُورُهُمْ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ
وَرَبُّكَwarabbukaAnd your Lordيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsمَاwhatتُكِنُّtukinnuconcealsصُدُورُهُمْṣudūruhumtheir breastsوَمَاwamāand whatيُعْلِنُونَyuʿ'linūnathey declare
And your Lord knows what their breasts conceal and what they declare
⤳ Link 28:69
70
وَهُوَ ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ لَهُ ٱلْحَمْدُ فِى ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۖ وَلَهُ ٱلْحُكْمُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ
وَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahلَآ(there is) noإِلَـٰهَilāhagodإِلَّاillābutهُوَ ۖhuwaHeلَهُlahuTo Himٱلْحَمْدُl-ḥamdu(are due) all praisesفِىinٱلْأُولَىٰl-ūlāthe firstوَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۖwal-ākhiratiand the lastوَلَهُwalahuAnd for Himٱلْحُكْمُl-ḥuk'mu(is) the Decisionوَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Himتُرْجَعُونَtur'jaʿūnayou will be returned
And He is Allah; there is no deity except Him. To Him is [due all] praise in the first [life] and the Hereafter. And His is the [final] decision, and to Him you will be returned
⤳ Link 28:70
71
قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِن جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلَّيْلَ سَرْمَدًا إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ مَنْ إِلَـٰهٌ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ يَأْتِيكُم بِضِيَآءٍ ۖ أَفَلَا تَسْمَعُونَ
قُلْqulSayأَرَءَيْتُمْara-aytumHave you seenإِنinifجَعَلَjaʿalaAllah madeٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah madeعَلَيْكُمُʿalaykumufor youٱلَّيْلَal-laylathe nightسَرْمَدًاsarmadancontinuousإِلَىٰilātillيَوْمِyawmi(the) Dayٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionمَنْmanwhoإِلَـٰهٌilāhun(is the) godغَيْرُghayrubesidesٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahيَأْتِيكُمyatīkumwho could bring youبِضِيَآءٍ ۖbiḍiyāinlightأَفَلَاafalāThen will notتَسْمَعُونَtasmaʿūnayou hear
Say, "Have you considered: if Allah should make for you the night continuous until the Day of Resurrection, what deity other than Allah could bring you light? Then will you not hear
⤳ Link 28:71
72
قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِن جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلنَّهَارَ سَرْمَدًا إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ مَنْ إِلَـٰهٌ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ يَأْتِيكُم بِلَيْلٍۢ تَسْكُنُونَ فِيهِ ۖ أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ
قُلْqulSayأَرَءَيْتُمْara-aytumHave you seenإِنinifجَعَلَjaʿalaAllah madeٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah madeعَلَيْكُمُʿalaykumufor youٱلنَّهَارَl-nahārathe dayسَرْمَدًاsarmadancontinuousإِلَىٰilātillيَوْمِyawmi(the) Dayٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionمَنْmanwhoإِلَـٰهٌilāhun(is the) godغَيْرُghayrubesidesٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahيَأْتِيكُمyatīkumwho could bring youبِلَيْلٍۢbilaylinnightتَسْكُنُونَtaskunūna(for) you (to) restفِيهِ ۖfīhiin itأَفَلَاafalāThen will notتُبْصِرُونَtub'ṣirūnayou see
Say, "Have you considered: if Allah should make for you the day continuous until the Day of Resurrection, what deity other than Allah could bring you a night in which you may rest? Then will you not see
⤳ Link 28:72
73
وَمِن رَّحْمَتِهِۦ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ لِتَسْكُنُوا۟ فِيهِ وَلِتَبْتَغُوا۟ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
وَمِنwaminAnd fromرَّحْمَتِهِۦraḥmatihiHis MercyجَعَلَjaʿalaHe madeلَكُمُlakumufor youٱلَّيْلَal-laylathe nightوَٱلنَّهَارَwal-nahāraand the dayلِتَسْكُنُوا۟litaskunūthat you may restفِيهِfīhithereinوَلِتَبْتَغُوا۟walitabtaghūand that you may seekمِنminfromفَضْلِهِۦfaḍlihiHis Bountyوَلَعَلَّكُمْwalaʿallakumand so that you mayتَشْكُرُونَtashkurūnabe grateful
And out of His mercy He made for you the night and the day that you may rest therein and [by day] seek from His bounty and [that] perhaps you will be grateful
⤳ Link 28:73
74
وَيَوْمَ يُنَادِيهِمْ فَيَقُولُ أَيْنَ شُرَكَآءِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ كُنتُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ
وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (the) DayيُنَادِيهِمْyunādīhimHe will call themفَيَقُولُfayaqūluand sayأَيْنَaynaWhereشُرَكَآءِىَshurakāiya(are) My partnersٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawhomكُنتُمْkuntumyou used (to)تَزْعُمُونَtazʿumūnaclaim
And [warn of] the Day He will call them and say, "Where are my 'partners' which you used to claim
⤳ Link 28:74
75
وَنَزَعْنَا مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۢ شَهِيدًۭا فَقُلْنَا هَاتُوا۟ بُرْهَـٰنَكُمْ فَعَلِمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱلْحَقَّ لِلَّهِ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ
وَنَزَعْنَاwanazaʿnāAnd We will draw forthمِنminfromكُلِّkullieveryأُمَّةٍۢummatinnationشَهِيدًۭاshahīdana witnessفَقُلْنَاfaqul'nāand We will sayهَاتُوا۟hātūBringبُرْهَـٰنَكُمْbur'hānakumyour proofفَعَلِمُوٓا۟faʿalimūThen they will knowأَنَّannathatٱلْحَقَّl-ḥaqathe truthلِلَّهِlillahi(is) for Allahوَضَلَّwaḍallaand (will be) lostعَنْهُمʿanhumfrom themمَّاwhatكَانُوا۟kānūthey used (to)يَفْتَرُونَyaftarūnainvent
And We will extract from every nation a witness and say, "Produce your proof," and they will know that the truth belongs to Allah, and lost from them is that which they used to invent
⤳ Link 28:75
76
۞ إِنَّ قَـٰرُونَ كَانَ مِن قَوْمِ مُوسَىٰ فَبَغَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْكُنُوزِ مَآ إِنَّ مَفَاتِحَهُۥ لَتَنُوٓأُ بِٱلْعُصْبَةِ أُو۟لِى ٱلْقُوَّةِ إِذْ قَالَ لَهُۥ قَوْمُهُۥ لَا تَفْرَحْ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْفَرِحِينَ
۞ إِنَّinnaIndeedقَـٰرُونَqārūnaQarunكَانَkānawasمِنminfromقَوْمِqawmi(the) peopleمُوسَىٰmūsā(of) Musaفَبَغَىٰfabaghābut he oppressedعَلَيْهِمْ ۖʿalayhim[on] themوَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُwaātaynāhuAnd We gave himمِنَminaofٱلْكُنُوزِl-kunūzithe treasuresمَآwhichإِنَّinnaindeedمَفَاتِحَهُۥmafātiḥahu(the) keys of itلَتَنُوٓأُlatanūuwould burdenبِٱلْعُصْبَةِbil-ʿuṣ'batia company (of men)أُو۟لِىulīpossessors of great strengthٱلْقُوَّةِl-quwatipossessors of great strengthإِذْidhWhenقَالَqālasaidلَهُۥlahuto himقَوْمُهُۥqawmuhuhis peopleلَا(Do) notتَفْرَحْ ۖtafraḥexultإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَا(does) notيُحِبُّyuḥibbuloveٱلْفَرِحِينَl-fariḥīnathe exultant
Indeed, Qarun was from the people of Moses, but he tyrannized them. And We gave him of treasures whose keys would burden a band of strong men; thereupon his people said to him, "Do not exult. Indeed, Allah does not like the exultant
⤳ Link 28:76
77
وَٱبْتَغِ فِيمَآ ءَاتَىٰكَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلدَّارَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ ۖ وَلَا تَنسَ نَصِيبَكَ مِنَ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَأَحْسِن كَمَآ أَحْسَنَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَيْكَ ۖ وَلَا تَبْغِ ٱلْفَسَادَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ
وَٱبْتَغِwa-ib'taghiBut seekفِيمَآfīmāthrough whatءَاتَىٰكَātākaAllah has given youٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah has given youٱلدَّارَl-dārathe homeٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ ۖl-ākhirata(of) the Hereafterوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَنسَtansaforgetنَصِيبَكَnaṣībakayour shareمِنَminaofٱلدُّنْيَا ۖl-dun'yāthe worldوَأَحْسِنwa-aḥsinAnd do goodكَمَآkamāasأَحْسَنَaḥsanaAllah has been goodٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah has been goodإِلَيْكَ ۖilaykato youوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَبْغِtabghiseekٱلْفَسَادَl-fasādacorruptionفِىinٱلْأَرْضِ ۖl-arḍithe earthإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَا(does) notيُحِبُّyuḥibbuloveٱلْمُفْسِدِينَl-muf'sidīnathe corrupters
But seek, through that which Allah has given you, the home of the Hereafter; and [yet], do not forget your share of the world. And do good as Allah has done good to you. And desire not corruption in the land. Indeed, Allah does not like corrupters
⤳ Link 28:77
78
قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أُوتِيتُهُۥ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عِندِىٓ ۚ أَوَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَدْ أَهْلَكَ مِن قَبْلِهِۦ مِنَ ٱلْقُرُونِ مَنْ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُ قُوَّةًۭ وَأَكْثَرُ جَمْعًۭا ۚ وَلَا يُسْـَٔلُ عَن ذُنُوبِهِمُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ
قَالَqālaHe saidإِنَّمَآinnamāOnlyأُوتِيتُهُۥūtītuhuI have been given itعَلَىٰʿalāon (account)عِلْمٍʿil'min(of) knowledgeعِندِىٓ ۚʿindīI haveأَوَلَمْawalamDid notيَعْلَمْyaʿlamhe knowأَنَّannathatٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahقَدْqadindeedأَهْلَكَahlakadestroyedمِنminbefore himقَبْلِهِۦqablihibefore himمِنَminaofٱلْقُرُونِl-qurūnithe generationsمَنْmanwhoهُوَhuwa[they]أَشَدُّashaddu(were) strongerمِنْهُmin'huthan himقُوَّةًۭquwwatan(in) strengthوَأَكْثَرُwa-aktharuand greaterجَمْعًۭا ۚjamʿan(in) accumulationوَلَاwalāAnd notيُسْـَٔلُyus'aluwill be questionedعَنʿanaboutذُنُوبِهِمُdhunūbihimutheir sinsٱلْمُجْرِمُونَl-muj'rimūnathe criminals
He said, "I was only given it because of knowledge I have." Did he not know that Allah had destroyed before him of generations those who were greater than him in power and greater in accumulation [of wealth]? But the criminals, about their sins, will not be asked
⤳ Link 28:78
79
فَخَرَجَ عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ فِى زِينَتِهِۦ ۖ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُرِيدُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا يَـٰلَيْتَ لَنَا مِثْلَ مَآ أُوتِىَ قَـٰرُونُ إِنَّهُۥ لَذُو حَظٍّ عَظِيمٍۢ
فَخَرَجَfakharajaSo he went forthعَلَىٰʿalātoقَوْمِهِۦqawmihihis peopleفِىinزِينَتِهِۦ ۖzīnatihihis adornmentقَالَqālaSaidٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيُرِيدُونَyurīdūnadesireٱلْحَيَوٰةَl-ḥayatathe lifeٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldيَـٰلَيْتَyālaytaO! Would thatلَنَاlanāfor usمِثْلَmith'la(the) likeمَآ(of) whatأُوتِىَūtiyahas been givenقَـٰرُونُqārūnu(to) QarunإِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, heلَذُوladhū(is the) ownerحَظٍّḥaẓẓin(of) fortuneعَظِيمٍۢʿaẓīmingreat
So he came out before his people in his adornment. Those who desired the worldly life said, "Oh, would that we had like what was given to Qarun. Indeed, he is one of great fortune
⤳ Link 28:79
80
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمَ وَيْلَكُمْ ثَوَابُ ٱللَّهِ خَيْرٌۭ لِّمَنْ ءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَـٰلِحًۭا وَلَا يُلَقَّىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلصَّـٰبِرُونَ
وَقَالَwaqālaBut saidٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأُوتُوا۟ūtūwere givenٱلْعِلْمَl-ʿil'mathe knowledgeوَيْلَكُمْwaylakumWoe to youثَوَابُthawābu(The) rewardٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahخَيْرٌۭkhayrun(is) betterلِّمَنْlimanfor (he) whoءَامَنَāmanabelievesوَعَمِلَwaʿamilaand doesصَـٰلِحًۭاṣāliḥanrighteous (deeds)وَلَاwalāAnd notيُلَقَّىٰهَآyulaqqāhāit is grantedإِلَّاillāexceptٱلصَّـٰبِرُونَl-ṣābirūna(to) the patient ones
But those who had been given knowledge said, "Woe to you! The reward of Allah is better for he who believes and does righteousness. And none are granted it except the patient
⤳ Link 28:80
81
فَخَسَفْنَا بِهِۦ وَبِدَارِهِ ٱلْأَرْضَ فَمَا كَانَ لَهُۥ مِن فِئَةٍۢ يَنصُرُونَهُۥ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنتَصِرِينَ
فَخَسَفْنَاfakhasafnāThen We caused to swallow upبِهِۦbihihimوَبِدَارِهِwabidārihiand his homeٱلْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earthفَمَاfamāThen notكَانَkānawasلَهُۥlahufor himمِنminanyفِئَةٍۢfi-atingroupيَنصُرُونَهُۥyanṣurūnahu(to) help himمِنminbesidesدُونِdūnibesidesٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَمَاwamāand notكَانَkānawasمِنَmina(he) ofٱلْمُنتَصِرِينَl-muntaṣirīnathose who (could) defend themselves
And We caused the earth to swallow him and his home. And there was for him no company to aid him other than Allah, nor was he of those who [could] defend themselves
⤳ Link 28:81
82
وَأَصْبَحَ ٱلَّذِينَ تَمَنَّوْا۟ مَكَانَهُۥ بِٱلْأَمْسِ يَقُولُونَ وَيْكَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَبْسُطُ ٱلرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ وَيَقْدِرُ ۖ لَوْلَآ أَن مَّنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا لَخَسَفَ بِنَا ۖ وَيْكَأَنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ
وَأَصْبَحَwa-aṣbaḥaAnd beganٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoتَمَنَّوْا۟tamannaw(had) wishedمَكَانَهُۥmakānahuhis positionبِٱلْأَمْسِbil-amsithe day beforeيَقُولُونَyaqūlūna(to) sayوَيْكَأَنَّwayka-annaAh! Thatٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَبْسُطُyabsuṭuextendsٱلرِّزْقَl-riz'qathe provisionلِمَنlimanfor whomيَشَآءُyashāuHe willsمِنْminofعِبَادِهِۦʿibādihiHis slavesوَيَقْدِرُ ۖwayaqdiruand restricts itلَوْلَآlawlāIf notأَنanthatمَّنَّmannaAllah had favoredٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah had favoredعَلَيْنَاʿalaynā[to] usلَخَسَفَlakhasafaHe would have caused it to swallow usبِنَا ۖbināHe would have caused it to swallow usوَيْكَأَنَّهُۥwayka-annahuAh! Thatلَاnotيُفْلِحُyuf'liḥuwill succeedٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَl-kāfirūnathe disbelievers
And those who had wished for his position the previous day began to say, "Oh, how Allah extends provision to whom He wills of His servants and restricts it! If not that Allah had conferred favor on us, He would have caused it to swallow us. Oh, how the disbelievers do not succeed
⤳ Link 28:82
83
تِلْكَ ٱلدَّارُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ نَجْعَلُهَا لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُرِيدُونَ عُلُوًّۭا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا فَسَادًۭا ۚ وَٱلْعَـٰقِبَةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
تِلْكَtil'kaThatٱلدَّارُl-dāruthe Homeٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُl-ākhiratu(of) the HereafterنَجْعَلُهَاnajʿaluhāWe assign itلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those whoلَا(do) notيُرِيدُونَyurīdūnadesireعُلُوًّۭاʿuluwwanexaltednessفِىinٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَلَاwalāand notفَسَادًۭا ۚfasādancorruptionوَٱلْعَـٰقِبَةُwal-ʿāqibatuAnd the good endلِلْمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqīna(is) for the righteous
That home of the Hereafter We assign to those who do not desire exaltedness upon the earth or corruption. And the [best] outcome is for the righteous
⤳ Link 28:83
84
مَن جَآءَ بِٱلْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُۥ خَيْرٌۭ مِّنْهَا ۖ وَمَن جَآءَ بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ فَلَا يُجْزَى ٱلَّذِينَ عَمِلُوا۟ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ إِلَّا مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
مَنmanWhoeverجَآءَjāacomesبِٱلْحَسَنَةِbil-ḥasanatiwith a good (deed)فَلَهُۥfalahuthen for himخَيْرٌۭkhayrun(will be) betterمِّنْهَا ۖmin'hāthan itوَمَنwamanand whoeverجَآءَjāacomesبِٱلسَّيِّئَةِbil-sayi-atiwith an evil (deed)فَلَاfalāthen notيُجْزَىyuj'zāwill be recompensedٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoعَمِلُوا۟ʿamilūdoٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِl-sayiātithe evil (deeds)إِلَّاillāexceptمَاwhatكَانُوا۟kānūthey used (to)يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
Whoever comes [on the Day of Judgement] with a good deed will have better than it; and whoever comes with an evil deed - then those who did evil deeds will not be recompensed except [as much as] what they used to do
⤳ Link 28:84
85
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِى فَرَضَ عَلَيْكَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لَرَآدُّكَ إِلَىٰ مَعَادٍۢ ۚ قُل رَّبِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ مَن جَآءَ بِٱلْهُدَىٰ وَمَنْ هُوَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ
إِنَّinnaIndeedٱلَّذِىalladhīHe Whoفَرَضَfaraḍaordainedعَلَيْكَʿalaykaupon youٱلْقُرْءَانَl-qur'ānathe Quranلَرَآدُّكَlarādduka(will) surely take you backإِلَىٰilātoمَعَادٍۢ ۚmaʿādina place of returnقُلqulSayرَّبِّىٓrabbīMy Lordأَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) most knowingمَنman(of him) whoجَآءَjāacomesبِٱلْهُدَىٰbil-hudāwith the guidanceوَمَنْwamanand who هُوَhuwaheفِى(is) inضَلَـٰلٍۢḍalālinan errorمُّبِينٍۢmubīninmanifest
Indeed, [O Muhammad], He who imposed upon you the Qur'an will take you back to a place of return. Say, "My Lord is most knowing of who brings guidance and who is in clear error
⤳ Link 28:85
86
وَمَا كُنتَ تَرْجُوٓا۟ أَن يُلْقَىٰٓ إِلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ إِلَّا رَحْمَةًۭ مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۖ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ ظَهِيرًۭا لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
وَمَاwamāAnd notكُنتَkuntayou wereتَرْجُوٓا۟tarjūexpectingأَنanthatيُلْقَىٰٓyul'qāwould be sent downإِلَيْكَilaykato youٱلْكِتَـٰبُl-kitābuthe Bookإِلَّاillāexceptرَحْمَةًۭraḥmatan(as) a mercyمِّنminfromرَّبِّكَ ۖrabbikayour LordفَلَاfalāSo (do) notتَكُونَنَّtakūnannabeظَهِيرًۭاẓahīranan assistantلِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَlil'kāfirīnato the disbelievers
And you were not expecting that the Book would be conveyed to you, but [it is] a mercy from your Lord. So do not be an assistant to the disbelievers
⤳ Link 28:86
87
وَلَا يَصُدُّنَّكَ عَنْ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ بَعْدَ إِذْ أُنزِلَتْ إِلَيْكَ ۖ وَٱدْعُ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ۖ وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
وَلَاwalāAnd (let) notيَصُدُّنَّكَyaṣuddunnakaavert youعَنْʿanfromءَايَـٰتِāyāti(the) Versesٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahبَعْدَbaʿdaafterإِذْidh[when]أُنزِلَتْunzilatthey have been revealedإِلَيْكَ ۖilaykato youوَٱدْعُwa-ud'ʿuAnd invite (people)إِلَىٰilātoرَبِّكَ ۖrabbikayour LordوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَكُونَنَّtakūnannabeمِنَminaofٱلْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
And never let them avert you from the verses of Allah after they have been revealed to you. And invite [people] to your Lord. And never be of those who associate others with Allah
⤳ Link 28:87
88
وَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ ۘ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ كُلُّ شَىْءٍ هَالِكٌ إِلَّا وَجْهَهُۥ ۚ لَهُ ٱلْحُكْمُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ
وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَدْعُtadʿuinvokeمَعَmaʿawithٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahإِلَـٰهًاilāhangodءَاخَرَ ۘākharaotherلَآ(There is) noإِلَـٰهَilāhagodإِلَّاillāexceptهُوَ ۚhuwaHimكُلُّkulluEveryشَىْءٍshayinthingهَالِكٌhālikun(will be) destroyedإِلَّاillāexceptوَجْهَهُۥ ۚwajhahuHis FaceلَهُlahuTo Himٱلْحُكْمُl-ḥuk'mu(is) the Decisionوَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Himتُرْجَعُونَtur'jaʿūnayou will be returned
And do not invoke with Allah another deity. There is no deity except Him. Everything will be destroyed except His Face. His is the judgement, and to Him you will be returned
