سُورَةُ النَّازِعَاتِ
An-Naazi'aat · 46 verses

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
1
وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَـٰتِ غَرْقًۭا
وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَـٰتِwal-nāziʿātiBy those who extractغَرْقًۭاgharqanviolently
By those [angels] who extract with violence
⤳ Link 79:1
2
وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَـٰتِ نَشْطًۭا
وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَـٰتِwal-nāshiṭātiAnd those who draw outنَشْطًۭاnashṭangently
And [by] those who remove with ease
⤳ Link 79:2
3
وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَـٰتِ سَبْحًۭا
وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَـٰتِwal-sābiḥātiAnd those who glideسَبْحًۭاsabḥanswimming
And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming
⤳ Link 79:3
4
فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَـٰتِ سَبْقًۭا
فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَـٰتِfal-sābiqātiAnd those who race each otherسَبْقًۭاsabqan(in) a race
And those who race each other in a race
⤳ Link 79:4
5
فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمْرًۭا
فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٰتِfal-mudabirātiAnd those who arrangeأَمْرًۭاamran(the) matter
And those who arrange [each] matter
⤳ Link 79:5
6
يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ
يَوْمَyawma(The) Dayتَرْجُفُtarjufuwill quakeٱلرَّاجِفَةُl-rājifatuthe quaking one
On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation]
⤳ Link 79:6
7
تَتْبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ
تَتْبَعُهَاtatbaʿuhāFollows itٱلرَّادِفَةُl-rādifatuthe subsequent
There will follow it the subsequent [one]
⤳ Link 79:7
8
قُلُوبٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ وَاجِفَةٌ
قُلُوبٌۭqulūbunHeartsيَوْمَئِذٍۢyawma-idhinthat Dayوَاجِفَةٌwājifatunwill palpitate
Hearts, that Day, will tremble
⤳ Link 79:8
9
أَبْصَـٰرُهَا خَـٰشِعَةٌۭ
أَبْصَـٰرُهَاabṣāruhāTheir eyesخَـٰشِعَةٌۭkhāshiʿatunhumbled
Their eyes humbled
⤳ Link 79:9
10
يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِى ٱلْحَافِرَةِ
يَقُولُونَyaqūlūnaThey sayأَءِنَّاa-innāWill weلَمَرْدُودُونَlamardūdūnaindeed be returnedفِىtoٱلْحَافِرَةِl-ḥāfiratithe former state
They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]
⤳ Link 79:10
11
أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَـٰمًۭا نَّخِرَةًۭ
أَءِذَاa-idhāWhat! Whenكُنَّاkunnāwe areعِظَـٰمًۭاʿiẓāmanbonesنَّخِرَةًۭnakhiratandecayed
Even if we should be decayed bones
⤳ Link 79:11
12
قَالُوا۟ تِلْكَ إِذًۭا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌۭ
قَالُوا۟qālūThey sayتِلْكَtil'kaThisإِذًۭاidhanthenكَرَّةٌkarratun(would be) a returnخَاسِرَةٌۭkhāsiratunlosing
They say, "That, then, would be a losing return
⤳ Link 79:12
13
فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌۭ وَٰحِدَةٌۭ
فَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāThen onlyهِىَhiyaitزَجْرَةٌۭzajratun(will be) a shoutوَٰحِدَةٌۭwāḥidatunsingle
Indeed, it will be but one shout
⤳ Link 79:13
14
فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ
فَإِذَاfa-idhāAnd beholdهُمhumTheyبِٱلسَّاهِرَةِbil-sāhirati(will be) awakened
And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface
⤳ Link 79:14
15
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ
هَلْhalHasأَتَىٰكَatāka(there) come to youحَدِيثُḥadīthu(the) storyمُوسَىٰٓmūsā(of) Musa
Has there reached you the story of Moses
⤳ Link 79:15
16
إِذْ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلْوَادِ ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى
إِذْidhWhenنَادَىٰهُnādāhucalled himرَبُّهُۥrabbuhuhis Lordبِٱلْوَادِbil-wādiin the valleyٱلْمُقَدَّسِl-muqadasithe sacredطُوًىṭuwan(of) Tuwa
When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa
⤳ Link 79:16
17
ٱذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ
ٱذْهَبْidh'habGoإِلَىٰilātoفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraunإِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, heطَغَىٰṭaghā(has) transgressed
Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed
⤳ Link 79:17
18
فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ
فَقُلْfaqulAnd sayهَلhalWouldلَّكَlaka[for] youإِلَىٰٓilā[to]أَنan[that]تَزَكَّىٰtazakkāpurify yourself
And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself
⤳ Link 79:18
19
وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ
وَأَهْدِيَكَwa-ahdiyakaAnd I will guide youإِلَىٰilātoرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordفَتَخْشَىٰfatakhshāso you would fear
And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]
⤳ Link 79:19
20
فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلْـَٔايَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
فَأَرَىٰهُfa-arāhuThen he showed himٱلْـَٔايَةَl-āyatathe signٱلْكُبْرَىٰl-kub'rāthe great
And he showed him the greatest sign
⤳ Link 79:20
21
فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ
فَكَذَّبَfakadhabaBut he deniedوَعَصَىٰwaʿaṣāand disobeyed
But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed
⤳ Link 79:21
22
ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ
ثُمَّthummaThenأَدْبَرَadbarahe turned his backيَسْعَىٰyasʿāstriving
Then he turned his back, striving
⤳ Link 79:22
23
فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ
فَحَشَرَfaḥasharaAnd he gatheredفَنَادَىٰfanādāand called out
And he gathered [his people] and called out
⤳ Link 79:23
24
فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ
فَقَالَfaqālaThen he saidأَنَا۠anāI amرَبُّكُمُrabbukumuyour Lordٱلْأَعْلَىٰl-aʿlāthe Most High
And said, "I am your most exalted lord
⤳ Link 79:24
25
فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَٱلْأُولَىٰٓ
فَأَخَذَهُfa-akhadhahuSo seized himٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahنَكَالَnakāla(with) an exemplary punishmentٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِl-ākhirati(for) the lastوَٱلْأُولَىٰٓwal-ūlāand the first
So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]
⤳ Link 79:25
26
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةًۭ لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰٓ
إِنَّinnaIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَdhālikathatلَعِبْرَةًۭlaʿib'ratansurely (is) a lessonلِّمَنlimanfor whoeverيَخْشَىٰٓyakhshāfears
Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]
⤳ Link 79:26
27
ءَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ ۚ بَنَىٰهَا
ءَأَنتُمْa-antumAre youأَشَدُّashaddua more difficultخَلْقًاkhalqancreationأَمِamiorٱلسَّمَآءُ ۚl-samāuthe heavenبَنَىٰهَاbanāhāHe constructed it
Are you a more difficult creation or is the heaven? Allah constructed it
⤳ Link 79:27
28
رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّىٰهَا
رَفَعَrafaʿaHe raisedسَمْكَهَاsamkahāits ceilingفَسَوَّىٰهَاfasawwāhāand proportioned it
He raised its ceiling and proportioned it
⤳ Link 79:28
29
وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَىٰهَا
وَأَغْطَشَwa-aghṭashaAnd He darkenedلَيْلَهَاlaylahāits nightوَأَخْرَجَwa-akhrajaand brought outضُحَىٰهَاḍuḥāhāits brightness
And He darkened its night and extracted its brightness
⤳ Link 79:29
30
وَٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ
وَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍaAnd the earthبَعْدَbaʿdaafterذَٰلِكَdhālikathatدَحَىٰهَآdaḥāhāHe spread it
And after that He spread the earth
⤳ Link 79:30
31
أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرْعَىٰهَا
أَخْرَجَakhrajaHe brought forthمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itمَآءَهَاmāahāits waterوَمَرْعَىٰهَاwamarʿāhāand its pasture
He extracted from it its water and its pasture
⤳ Link 79:31
32
وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَرْسَىٰهَا
وَٱلْجِبَالَwal-jibālaAnd the mountainsأَرْسَىٰهَاarsāhāHe made them firm
And the mountains He set firmly
⤳ Link 79:32
33
مَتَـٰعًۭا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ
مَتَـٰعًۭاmatāʿan(As) a provisionلَّكُمْlakumfor youوَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْwali-anʿāmikumand for your cattle
As provision for you and your grazing livestock
⤳ Link 79:33
34
فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلطَّآمَّةُ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
فَإِذَاfa-idhāBut whenجَآءَتِjāaticomesٱلطَّآمَّةُl-ṭāmatuthe Overwhelming Calamityٱلْكُبْرَىٰl-kub'rāthe great
But when there comes the greatest Overwhelming Calamity
⤳ Link 79:34
35
يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ
يَوْمَyawma(The) Dayيَتَذَكَّرُyatadhakkaruwill rememberٱلْإِنسَـٰنُl-insānumanمَاwhatسَعَىٰsaʿāhe strove (for)
The Day when man will remember that for which he strove
⤳ Link 79:35
36
وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ
وَبُرِّزَتِwaburrizatiAnd will be made manifestٱلْجَحِيمُl-jaḥīmuthe Hellfireلِمَنlimanto (him) whoيَرَىٰyarāsees
And Hellfire will be exposed for [all] those who see
⤳ Link 79:36
37
فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ
فَأَمَّاfa-ammāThen as forمَنman(him) whoطَغَىٰṭaghātransgressed
So as for he who transgressed
⤳ Link 79:37
38
وَءَاثَرَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا
وَءَاثَرَwaātharaAnd preferredٱلْحَيَوٰةَl-ḥayatathe lifeٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the world
And preferred the life of the world
⤳ Link 79:38
39
فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ
فَإِنَّfa-innaThen indeedٱلْجَحِيمَl-jaḥīmathe Hellfireهِىَhiyaitٱلْمَأْوَىٰl-mawā(is) the refuge
Then indeed, Hellfire will be [his] refuge
⤳ Link 79:39
40
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفْسَ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ
وَأَمَّاwa-ammāBut as forمَنْman(him) whoخَافَkhāfafearedمَقَامَmaqāmastandingرَبِّهِۦrabbihi(before) his Lordوَنَهَىwanahāand restrainedٱلنَّفْسَl-nafsahis soulعَنِʿanifromٱلْهَوَىٰl-hawāthe vain desires
But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination
⤳ Link 79:40
41
فَإِنَّ ٱلْجَنَّةَ هِىَ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ
فَإِنَّfa-innaThen indeedٱلْجَنَّةَl-janataParadise هِىَhiyait (is)ٱلْمَأْوَىٰl-mawāthe refuge
Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge
⤳ Link 79:41
42
يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَىٰهَا
يَسْـَٔلُونَكَyasalūnakaThey ask youعَنِʿaniaboutٱلسَّاعَةِl-sāʿatithe Hourأَيَّانَayyānawhenمُرْسَىٰهَاmur'sāhā(is) its arrival
They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival
⤳ Link 79:42
43
فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَىٰهَآ
فِيمَfīmaIn whatأَنتَanta(are) youمِنmin[of]ذِكْرَىٰهَآdhik'rāhā(to) mention it
In what [position] are you that you should mention it
⤳ Link 79:43
44
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ
إِلَىٰilāToرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordمُنتَهَىٰهَآmuntahāhā(is) its finality
To your Lord is its finality
⤳ Link 79:44
45
إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰهَا
إِنَّمَآinnamāOnlyأَنتَantayouمُنذِرُmundhiru(are) a warnerمَنman(for him) whoيَخْشَىٰهَاyakhshāhāfears it
You are only a warner for those who fear it
⤳ Link 79:45
46
كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَىٰهَا
كَأَنَّهُمْka-annahumAs though theyيَوْمَyawma(the) Dayيَرَوْنَهَاyarawnahāthey see itلَمْlamnotيَلْبَثُوٓا۟yalbathūthey had remainedإِلَّاillāexceptعَشِيَّةًʿashiyyatanan eveningأَوْaworضُحَىٰهَاḍuḥāhāa morning thereof
It will be, on the Day they see it, as though they had not remained [in the world] except for an afternoon or a morning thereof
