Surah 84 of 114 · Makki
سُورَةُ الانشِقَاقِ
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
1
إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنشَقَّتْ
إِذَاidhāWhenٱلسَّمَآءُl-samāuthe skyٱنشَقَّتْinshaqqatis split asunder
When the sky has split [open]

84:1
2
وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ
وَأَذِنَتْwa-adhinatAnd has listenedلِرَبِّهَاlirabbihāto its Lordوَحُقَّتْwaḥuqqatand was obligated
And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so]

84:2
3
وَإِذَا ٱلْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ
وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenٱلْأَرْضُl-arḍuthe earthمُدَّتْmuddatis spread
And when the earth has been extended

84:3
4
وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ
وَأَلْقَتْwa-alqatAnd has cast outمَاmāwhatفِيهَاfīhā(is) in itوَتَخَلَّتْwatakhallatand becomes empty
And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it]

84:4
5
وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ
وَأَذِنَتْwa-adhinatAnd has listenedلِرَبِّهَاlirabbihāto its Lordوَحُقَّتْwaḥuqqatand was obligated
And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so]

84:5
6
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًۭا فَمُلَـٰقِيهِ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOٱلْإِنسَـٰنُl-insānumankindإِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, youكَادِحٌkādiḥun(are) laboringإِلَىٰilātoرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordكَدْحًۭاkadḥan(with) exertionفَمُلَـٰقِيهِfamulāqīhiand you (will) meet Him
O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it

84:6
7
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ
فَأَمَّاfa-ammāThen as forمَنْman(him) whoأُوتِىَūtiyais givenكِتَـٰبَهُۥkitābahuhis recordبِيَمِينِهِۦbiyamīnihiin his right (hand)
Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand

84:7
8
فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًۭا يَسِيرًۭا
فَسَوْفَfasawfaThen soonيُحَاسَبُyuḥāsabuhis account will be takenحِسَابًۭاḥisābanan accountيَسِيرًۭاyasīraneasy
He will be judged with an easy account

84:8
9
وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًۭا
وَيَنقَلِبُwayanqalibuAnd he will returnإِلَىٰٓilātoأَهْلِهِۦahlihihis peopleمَسْرُورًۭاmasrūranhappily
And return to his people in happiness

84:9
10
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهْرِهِۦ
وَأَمَّاwa-ammāBut as forمَنْman(him) whoأُوتِىَūtiyais givenكِتَـٰبَهُۥkitābahuhis recordوَرَآءَwarāabehindظَهْرِهِۦẓahrihihis back
But as for he who is given his record behind his back

84:10
11
فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُوا۟ ثُبُورًۭا
فَسَوْفَfasawfaThen soonيَدْعُوا۟yadʿūhe will callثُبُورًۭاthubūran(for) destruction
He will cry out for destruction

84:11
12
وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا
وَيَصْلَىٰwayaṣlāAnd he will burnسَعِيرًاsaʿīran(in) a Blaze
And [enter to] burn in a Blaze

84:12
13
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِىٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, heكَانَkānahad beenفِىٓfīamongأَهْلِهِۦahlihihis peopleمَسْرُورًاmasrūranhappy
Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness

84:13
14
إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, heظَنَّẓanna(had) thoughtأَنanthatلَّنlanneverيَحُورَyaḥūrahe would return
Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]

84:14
15
بَلَىٰٓ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرًۭا
بَلَىٰٓbalāYesإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبَّهُۥrabbahuhis Lordكَانَkānawasبِهِۦbihiof himبَصِيرًۭاbaṣīranAll-Seer
But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing

16
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ
فَلَآfalāBut nayأُقْسِمُuq'simuI swearبِٱلشَّفَقِbil-shafaqiby the twilight glow
So I swear by the twilight glow

84:16
17
وَٱلَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ
وَٱلَّيْلِwa-al-layliAnd the nightوَمَاwamāand whatوَسَقَwasaqait envelops
And [by] the night and what it envelops
⤳ Link
84:17
18
وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ
وَٱلْقَمَرِwal-qamariAnd the moonإِذَاidhāwhenٱتَّسَقَittasaqait becomes full
And [by] the moon when it becomes full
⤳ Link
84:18
19
لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍۢ
لَتَرْكَبُنَّlatarkabunnaYou will surely embarkطَبَقًاṭabaqan(to) stageعَنʿanfromطَبَقٍۢṭabaqinstage
[That] you will surely experience state after state

84:19
20
فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
فَمَاfamāSo whatلَهُمْlahum(is) for themلَاlānotيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnathey believe
So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe

84:20
21
وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ ۩
وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenقُرِئَquri-ais recitedعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuto themٱلْقُرْءَانُl-qur'ānuthe Quranلَاlānotيَسْجُدُونَ ۩yasjudūnathey prostrate
And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]

22
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُكَذِّبُونَ
بَلِbaliNayٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoكَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelievedيُكَذِّبُونَyukadhibūnadeny
But those who have disbelieved deny

84:22
23
وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ
وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahأَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) most knowingبِمَاbimāof whatيُوعُونَyūʿūnathey keep within themselves
And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves

84:23
24
فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
فَبَشِّرْهُمfabashir'humso give them tidingsبِعَذَابٍbiʿadhābinof a punishmentأَلِيمٍalīminpainful
So give them tidings of a painful punishment

25
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍۭ
إِلَّاillāExceptٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieveوَعَمِلُوا۟waʿamilūand doٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous deedsلَهُمْlahumFor themأَجْرٌajrun(is) a rewardغَيْرُghayruneverمَمْنُونٍۭmamnūninending
Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted
