Surah 59 of 114 · Madani
سُورَةُ الحَشۡرِ
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
1
سَبَّحَ لِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
سَبَّحَsabbaḥaGlorifiesلِلَّهِlillahi[to] Allahمَاmāwhateverفِىfī(is) inٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَاwamāand whateverفِىfī(is) inٱلْأَرْضِ ۖl-arḍithe earthوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mightyٱلْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise
Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth exalts Allah, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise

59:1
2
هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مِن دِيَـٰرِهِمْ لِأَوَّلِ ٱلْحَشْرِ ۚ مَا ظَنَنتُمْ أَن يَخْرُجُوا۟ ۖ وَظَنُّوٓا۟ أَنَّهُم مَّانِعَتُهُمْ حُصُونُهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ فَأَتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَمْ يَحْتَسِبُوا۟ ۖ وَقَذَفَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلرُّعْبَ ۚ يُخْرِبُونَ بُيُوتَهُم بِأَيْدِيهِمْ وَأَيْدِى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَٱعْتَبِرُوا۟ يَـٰٓأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرِ
هُوَhuwaHeٱلَّذِىٓalladhī(is) the One Whoأَخْرَجَakhrajaexpelledٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelievedمِنْminfromأَهْلِahli(the) Peopleٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Scriptureمِنminfromدِيَـٰرِهِمْdiyārihimtheir homesلِأَوَّلِli-awwaliat (the) firstٱلْحَشْرِ ۚl-ḥashrigatheringمَاmāNotظَنَنتُمْẓanantumyou thinkأَنanthatيَخْرُجُوا۟ ۖyakhrujūthey would leaveوَظَنُّوٓا۟waẓannūand they thoughtأَنَّهُمannahumthat [they]مَّانِعَتُهُمْmāniʿatuhumwould defend themحُصُونُهُمḥuṣūnuhumtheir fortressesمِّنَminaagainstٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahفَأَتَىٰهُمُfa-atāhumuBut came to themٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahمِنْminfromحَيْثُḥaythuwhereلَمْlamnotيَحْتَسِبُوا۟ ۖyaḥtasibūthey expectedوَقَذَفَwaqadhafaand He castفِىfīintoقُلُوبِهِمُqulūbihimutheir heartsٱلرُّعْبَ ۚl-ruʿ'ba[the] terrorيُخْرِبُونَyukh'ribūnathey destroyedبُيُوتَهُمbuyūtahumtheir housesبِأَيْدِيهِمْbi-aydīhimwith their handsوَأَيْدِىwa-aydīand the handsٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna(of) the believersفَٱعْتَبِرُوا۟fa-iʿ'tabirūSo take a lessonيَـٰٓأُو۟لِىyāulīO those endowedٱلْأَبْصَـٰرِl-abṣāri(with) insight
It is He who expelled the ones who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture from their homes at the first gathering. You did not think they would leave, and they thought that their fortresses would protect them from Allah; but [the decree of] Allah came upon them from where they had not expected, and He cast terror into their hearts [so] they destroyed their houses by their [own] hands and the hands of the believers. So take warning, O people of vision

59:2
3
وَلَوْلَآ أَن كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْجَلَآءَ لَعَذَّبَهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَهُمْ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ عَذَابُ ٱلنَّارِ
وَلَوْلَآwalawlāAnd if notأَنan[that]كَتَبَkataba(had) decreedٱللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimufor themٱلْجَلَآءَl-jalāathe exileلَعَذَّبَهُمْlaʿadhabahumcertainly He (would) have punished themفِىfīinٱلدُّنْيَا ۖl-dun'yāthe worldوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themفِىfīinٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafterعَذَابُʿadhābu(is) a punishmentٱلنَّارِl-nāri(of) the Fire
And if not that Allah had decreed for them evacuation, He would have punished them in [this] world, and for them in the Hereafter is the punishment of the Fire

59:3
4
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ شَآقُّوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ ۖ وَمَن يُشَآقِّ ٱللَّهَ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThatبِأَنَّهُمْbi-annahum(is) because [they]شَآقُّوا۟shāqqūthey opposedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَرَسُولَهُۥ ۖwarasūlahuand His MessengerوَمَنwamanAnd whoeverيُشَآقِّyushāqqiopposesٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahشَدِيدُshadīdu(is) severeٱلْعِقَابِl-ʿiqābi(in) penalty
That is because they opposed Allah and His Messenger. And whoever opposes Allah - then indeed, Allah is severe in penalty

59:4
5
مَا قَطَعْتُم مِّن لِّينَةٍ أَوْ تَرَكْتُمُوهَا قَآئِمَةً عَلَىٰٓ أُصُولِهَا فَبِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِيُخْزِىَ ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ
مَاmāWhateverقَطَعْتُمqaṭaʿtumyou cut downمِّنminofلِّينَةٍlīnatin(the) palm-treesأَوْaworتَرَكْتُمُوهَاtaraktumūhāyou left themقَآئِمَةًqāimatanstandingعَلَىٰٓʿalāonأُصُولِهَاuṣūlihātheir rootsفَبِإِذْنِfabi-idh'niit (was) by the permissionٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَلِيُخْزِىَwaliyukh'ziyaand that He may disgraceٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَl-fāsiqīnathe defiantly disobedient
Whatever you have cut down of [their] palm trees or left standing on their trunks - it was by permission of Allah and so He would disgrace the defiantly disobedient

59:5
6
وَمَآ أَفَآءَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ مِنْهُمْ فَمَآ أَوْجَفْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ خَيْلٍۢ وَلَا رِكَابٍۢ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُسَلِّطُ رُسُلَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ قَدِيرٌۭ
وَمَآwamāAnd whatأَفَآءَafāa(was) restoredٱللَّهُl-lahu(by) AllahعَلَىٰʿalātoرَسُولِهِۦrasūlihiHis Messengerمِنْهُمْmin'humfrom themفَمَآfamāthen notأَوْجَفْتُمْawjaftumyou made expeditionعَلَيْهِʿalayhifor itمِنْminofخَيْلٍۢkhaylinhorsesوَلَاwalāand notرِكَابٍۢrikābincamelsوَلَـٰكِنَّwalākinnabutٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahيُسَلِّطُyusalliṭugives powerرُسُلَهُۥrusulahu(to) His Messengersعَلَىٰʿalāoverمَنmanwhomيَشَآءُ ۚyashāuHe willsوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَلَىٰʿalā(is) onكُلِّkullieveryشَىْءٍۢshayinthingقَدِيرٌۭqadīrunAll-Powerful
And what Allah restored [of property] to His Messenger from them - you did not spur for it [in an expedition] any horses or camels, but Allah gives His messengers power over whom He wills, and Allah is over all things competent

59:6
7
مَّآ أَفَآءَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْقُرَىٰ فَلِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ وَلِذِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَٱلْيَتَـٰمَىٰ وَٱلْمَسَـٰكِينِ وَٱبْنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ كَىْ لَا يَكُونَ دُولَةًۢ بَيْنَ ٱلْأَغْنِيَآءِ مِنكُمْ ۚ وَمَآ ءَاتَىٰكُمُ ٱلرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَىٰكُمْ عَنْهُ فَٱنتَهُوا۟ ۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ
مَّآmāWhatأَفَآءَafāa(was) restoredٱللَّهُl-lahu(by) AllahعَلَىٰʿalātoرَسُولِهِۦrasūlihiHis Messengerمِنْminfromأَهْلِahli(the) peopleٱلْقُرَىٰl-qurā(of) the townsفَلِلَّهِfalillahi(it is) for Allahوَلِلرَّسُولِwalilrrasūliand His Messengerوَلِذِىwalidhīand for thoseٱلْقُرْبَىٰl-qur'bā(of) the kindredوَٱلْيَتَـٰمَىٰwal-yatāmāand the orphansوَٱلْمَسَـٰكِينِwal-masākīniand the needyوَٱبْنِwa-ib'niandٱلسَّبِيلِl-sabīlithe wayfarerكَىْkaythatلَاlānotيَكُونَyakūnait becomesدُولَةًۢdūlatana (perpetual) circulationبَيْنَbaynabetweenٱلْأَغْنِيَآءِl-aghniyāithe richمِنكُمْ ۚminkumamong youوَمَآwamāAnd whateverءَاتَىٰكُمُātākumugives youٱلرَّسُولُl-rasūluthe Messengerفَخُذُوهُfakhudhūhutake itوَمَاwamāand whateverنَهَىٰكُمْnahākumhe forbids youعَنْهُʿanhufrom itفَٱنتَهُوا۟ ۚfa-intahūrefrainوَٱتَّقُوا۟wa-ittaqūAnd fearٱللَّهَ ۖl-lahaAllahإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahشَدِيدُshadīdu(is) severeٱلْعِقَابِl-ʿiqābi(in) penalty
And what Allah restored to His Messenger from the people of the towns - it is for Allah and for the Messenger and for [his] near relatives and orphans and the [stranded] traveler - so that it will not be a perpetual distribution among the rich from among you. And whatever the Messenger has given you - take; and what he has forbidden you - refrain from. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty

59:7
8
لِلْفُقَرَآءِ ٱلْمُهَـٰجِرِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُخْرِجُوا۟ مِن دِيَـٰرِهِمْ وَأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ يَبْتَغُونَ فَضْلًۭا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِضْوَٰنًۭا وَيَنصُرُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلصَّـٰدِقُونَ
لِلْفُقَرَآءِlil'fuqarāiFor the poorٱلْمُهَـٰجِرِينَl-muhājirīnaemigrantsٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأُخْرِجُوا۟ukh'rijūwere expelledمِنminfromدِيَـٰرِهِمْdiyārihimtheir homesوَأَمْوَٰلِهِمْwa-amwālihimand their propertiesيَبْتَغُونَyabtaghūnaseekingفَضْلًۭاfaḍlanbountyمِّنَminafromٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَرِضْوَٰنًۭاwariḍ'wānanand pleasureوَيَنصُرُونَwayanṣurūnaand helpingٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَرَسُولَهُۥٓ ۚwarasūlahuand His Messengerأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThoseهُمُhumutheyٱلصَّـٰدِقُونَl-ṣādiqūna(are) the truthful
For the poor emigrants who were expelled from their homes and their properties, seeking bounty from Allah and [His] approval and supporting Allah and His Messenger, [there is also a share]. Those are the truthful

59:8
9
وَٱلَّذِينَ تَبَوَّءُو ٱلدَّارَ وَٱلْإِيمَـٰنَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ يُحِبُّونَ مَنْ هَاجَرَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ فِى صُدُورِهِمْ حَاجَةًۭ مِّمَّآ أُوتُوا۟ وَيُؤْثِرُونَ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَلَوْ كَانَ بِهِمْ خَصَاصَةٌۭ ۚ وَمَن يُوقَ شُحَّ نَفْسِهِۦ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoتَبَوَّءُوtabawwaūsettledٱلدَّارَl-dāra(in) the homeوَٱلْإِيمَـٰنَwal-īmānaand (accepted) faithمِنminfromقَبْلِهِمْqablihimbefore themيُحِبُّونَyuḥibbūnaloveمَنْman(those) whoهَاجَرَhājaraemigratedإِلَيْهِمْilayhimto themوَلَاwalāand notيَجِدُونَyajidūnathey findفِىfīinصُدُورِهِمْṣudūrihimtheir breastsحَاجَةًۭḥājatanany wantمِّمَّآmimmāof whatأُوتُوا۟ūtūthey were givenوَيُؤْثِرُونَwayu'thirūnabut preferعَلَىٰٓʿalāoverأَنفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselvesوَلَوْwalaweven thoughكَانَkānawasبِهِمْbihimwith themخَصَاصَةٌۭ ۚkhaṣāṣatunpovertyوَمَنwamanAnd whoeverيُوقَyūqais savedشُحَّshuḥḥa(from) stinginessنَفْسِهِۦnafsihi(of) his soulفَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseهُمُhumu[they]ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَl-muf'liḥūna(are) the successful ones
And [also for] those who were settled in al-Madinah and [adopted] the faith before them. They love those who emigrated to them and find not any want in their breasts of what the emigrants were given but give [them] preference over themselves, even though they are in privation. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful

59:9
10
وَٱلَّذِينَ جَآءُو مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا ٱغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلِإِخْوَٰنِنَا ٱلَّذِينَ سَبَقُونَا بِٱلْإِيمَـٰنِ وَلَا تَجْعَلْ فِى قُلُوبِنَا غِلًّۭا لِّلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ رَءُوفٌۭ رَّحِيمٌ
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoجَآءُوjāūcameمِنۢminfromبَعْدِهِمْbaʿdihimafter themيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnathey sayرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordٱغْفِرْigh'firforgiveلَنَاlanāusوَلِإِخْوَٰنِنَاwali-ikh'wānināand our brothersٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawhoسَبَقُونَاsabaqūnāpreceded usبِٱلْإِيمَـٰنِbil-īmāniin faithوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَجْعَلْtajʿalputفِىfīinقُلُوبِنَاqulūbināour heartsغِلًّۭاghillanany rancorلِّلَّذِينَlilladhīnatowards those whoءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelievedرَبَّنَآrabbanāOur Lordإِنَّكَinnakaindeed Youرَءُوفٌۭraūfun(are) Full of KindnessرَّحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
And [there is a share for] those who came after them, saying, "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful

59:10
11
۞ أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ نَافَقُوا۟ يَقُولُونَ لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَئِنْ أُخْرِجْتُمْ لَنَخْرُجَنَّ مَعَكُمْ وَلَا نُطِيعُ فِيكُمْ أَحَدًا أَبَدًۭا وَإِن قُوتِلْتُمْ لَنَنصُرَنَّكُمْ وَٱللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
۞ أَلَمْalamDo notتَرَtarayou seeإِلَىilā[to]ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoنَافَقُوا۟nāfaqū(were) hypocritesيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnasayingلِإِخْوَٰنِهِمُli-ikh'wānihimuto their brothersٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelievedمِنْminamongأَهْلِahlithe Peopleٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Scriptureلَئِنْla-inIfأُخْرِجْتُمْukh'rij'tumyou are expelledلَنَخْرُجَنَّlanakhrujannasurely we will leaveمَعَكُمْmaʿakumwith youوَلَاwalāand notنُطِيعُnuṭīʿuwe will obeyفِيكُمْfīkumconcerning youأَحَدًاaḥadananyoneأَبَدًۭاabadaneverوَإِنwa-inand ifقُوتِلْتُمْqūtil'tumyou are foughtلَنَنصُرَنَّكُمْlananṣurannakumcertainly we will help youوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahيَشْهَدُyashhadubears witnessإِنَّهُمْinnahumthat theyلَكَـٰذِبُونَlakādhibūna(are) surely liars
Have you not considered those who practice hypocrisy, saying to their brothers who have disbelieved among the People of the Scripture, "If you are expelled, we will surely leave with you, and we will not obey, in regard to you, anyone - ever; and if you are fought, we will surely aid you." But Allah testifies that they are liars

59:11
12
لَئِنْ أُخْرِجُوا۟ لَا يَخْرُجُونَ مَعَهُمْ وَلَئِن قُوتِلُوا۟ لَا يَنصُرُونَهُمْ وَلَئِن نَّصَرُوهُمْ لَيُوَلُّنَّ ٱلْأَدْبَـٰرَ ثُمَّ لَا يُنصَرُونَ
لَئِنْla-inIfأُخْرِجُوا۟ukh'rijūthey are expelledلَاlānotيَخْرُجُونَyakhrujūnathey will leaveمَعَهُمْmaʿahumwith themوَلَئِنwala-inand ifقُوتِلُوا۟qūtilūthey are foughtلَاlānotيَنصُرُونَهُمْyanṣurūnahumthey will help themوَلَئِنwala-inAnd ifنَّصَرُوهُمْnaṣarūhumthey help themلَيُوَلُّنَّlayuwallunnacertainly they will turnٱلْأَدْبَـٰرَl-adbāra(their) backsثُمَّthummathenلَاlānotيُنصَرُونَyunṣarūnathey will be helped
If they are expelled, they will not leave with them, and if they are fought, they will not aid them. And [even] if they should aid them, they will surely turn their backs; then [thereafter] they will not be aided

59:12
13
لَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ رَهْبَةًۭ فِى صُدُورِهِم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌۭ لَّا يَفْقَهُونَ
لَأَنتُمْla-antumCertainly youأَشَدُّashaddu(are) more intenseرَهْبَةًۭrahbatan(in) fearفِىfīinصُدُورِهِمṣudūrihimtheir breastsمِّنَminathanٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahiAllahذَٰلِكَdhālikaThatبِأَنَّهُمْbi-annahum(is) because theyقَوْمٌۭqawmun(are) a peopleلَّاlā(who do) notيَفْقَهُونَyafqahūnaunderstand
You [believers] are more fearful within their breasts than Allah. That is because they are a people who do not understand

59:13
14
لَا يُقَـٰتِلُونَكُمْ جَمِيعًا إِلَّا فِى قُرًۭى مُّحَصَّنَةٍ أَوْ مِن وَرَآءِ جُدُرٍۭ ۚ بَأْسُهُم بَيْنَهُمْ شَدِيدٌۭ ۚ تَحْسَبُهُمْ جَمِيعًۭا وَقُلُوبُهُمْ شَتَّىٰ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌۭ لَّا يَعْقِلُونَ
لَاlāNotيُقَـٰتِلُونَكُمْyuqātilūnakumwill they fight youجَمِيعًاjamīʿanallإِلَّاillāexceptفِىfīinقُرًۭىqurantownsمُّحَصَّنَةٍmuḥaṣṣanatinfortifiedأَوْaworمِنminfromوَرَآءِwarāibehindجُدُرٍۭ ۚjudurinwallsبَأْسُهُمbasuhumTheir violenceبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumamong themselvesشَدِيدٌۭ ۚshadīdun(is) severeتَحْسَبُهُمْtaḥsabuhumYou think theyجَمِيعًۭاjamīʿan(are) unitedوَقُلُوبُهُمْwaqulūbuhumbut their heartsشَتَّىٰ ۚshattā(are) dividedذَٰلِكَdhālikaThatبِأَنَّهُمْbi-annahum(is) because theyقَوْمٌۭqawmun(are) a peopleلَّاlānotيَعْقِلُونَyaʿqilūnathey reason
They will not fight you all except within fortified cities or from behind walls. Their violence among themselves is severe. You think they are together, but their hearts are diverse. That is because they are a people who do not reason

59:14
15
كَمَثَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ قَرِيبًۭا ۖ ذَاقُوا۟ وَبَالَ أَمْرِهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ
كَمَثَلِkamathaliLike (the) exampleٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) thoseمِنminfromقَبْلِهِمْqablihimbefore themقَرِيبًۭا ۖqarībanshortlyذَاقُوا۟dhāqūthey tastedوَبَالَwabāla(the) evil resultأَمْرِهِمْamrihim(of) their affairوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌۭalīmunpainful
[Theirs is] like the example of those shortly before them: they tasted the bad consequence of their affair, and they will have a painful punishment

كَمَثَلِ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ إِذْ قَالَ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ ٱكْفُرْ فَلَمَّا كَفَرَ قَالَ إِنِّى بَرِىٓءٌۭ مِّنكَ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ ٱللَّهَ رَبَّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
كَمَثَلِkamathaliLike (the) exampleٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِl-shayṭāni(of) the Shaitaanإِذْidhwhenقَالَqālahe saysلِلْإِنسَـٰنِlil'insānito manٱكْفُرْuk'furDisbelieveفَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenكَفَرَkafarahe disbelievesقَالَqālahe saysإِنِّىinnīIndeed, I amبَرِىٓءٌۭbarīondisassociatedمِّنكَminkafrom youإِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, [I]أَخَافُakhāfuI fearٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahرَبَّrabba(the) Lordٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
[The hypocrites are] like the example of Satan when he says to man, "Disbelieve." But when he disbelieves, he says, "Indeed, I am disassociated from you. Indeed, I fear Allah, Lord of the worlds

59:16
17
فَكَانَ عَـٰقِبَتَهُمَآ أَنَّهُمَا فِى ٱلنَّارِ خَـٰلِدَيْنِ فِيهَا ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
فَكَانَfakānaSo will beعَـٰقِبَتَهُمَآʿāqibatahumā(the) end of both of themأَنَّهُمَاannahumāthat theyفِىfī(will be) inٱلنَّارِl-nārithe Fireخَـٰلِدَيْنِkhālidayniabiding foreverفِيهَا ۚfīhāthereinوَذَٰلِكَwadhālikaAnd thatجَزَٰٓؤُا۟jazāu(is the) recompenseٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīna(of) the wrongdoers
So the outcome for both of them is that they will be in the Fire, abiding eternally therein. And that is the recompense of the wrong-doers

59:17
18
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلْتَنظُرْ نَفْسٌۭ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ لِغَدٍۢ ۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOٱلَّذِينَalladhīnayou (who)ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieveٱتَّقُوا۟ittaqūFearٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَلْتَنظُرْwaltanẓurand let lookنَفْسٌۭnafsunevery soulمَّاmāwhatقَدَّمَتْqaddamatit has sent forthلِغَدٍۢ ۖlighadinfor tomorrowوَٱتَّقُوا۟wa-ittaqūand fearٱللَّهَ ۚl-lahaAllahإِنَّinnaIndeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahخَبِيرٌۢkhabīrun(is) All-Awareبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do
O you who have believed, fear Allah. And let every soul look to what it has put forth for tomorrow - and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do

59:18
19
وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ نَسُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَأَنسَىٰهُمْ أَنفُسَهُمْ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ
وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَكُونُوا۟takūnūbeكَٱلَّذِينَka-alladhīnalike those whoنَسُوا۟nasūforgotٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahفَأَنسَىٰهُمْfa-ansāhumso He made them forgetأَنفُسَهُمْ ۚanfusahumthemselvesأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThoseهُمُhumu[they]ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَl-fāsiqūna(are) the defiantly disobedient
And be not like those who forgot Allah, so He made them forget themselves. Those are the defiantly disobedient

59:19
20
لَا يَسْتَوِىٓ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۚ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْجَنَّةِ هُمُ ٱلْفَآئِزُونَ
لَاlāNotيَسْتَوِىٓyastawīequalأَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsٱلنَّارِl-nāri(of) the Fireوَأَصْحَـٰبُwa-aṣḥābuand (the) companionsٱلْجَنَّةِ ۚl-janati(of) Paradiseأَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(The) companionsٱلْجَنَّةِl-janati(of) Paradiseهُمُhumutheyٱلْفَآئِزُونَl-fāizūna(are) the achievers
Not equal are the companions of the Fire and the companions of Paradise. The companions of Paradise - they are the attainers [of success]

59:20
21
لَوْ أَنزَلْنَا هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ عَلَىٰ جَبَلٍۢ لَّرَأَيْتَهُۥ خَـٰشِعًۭا مُّتَصَدِّعًۭا مِّنْ خَشْيَةِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَتِلْكَ ٱلْأَمْثَـٰلُ نَضْرِبُهَا لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
لَوْlawIfأَنزَلْنَاanzalnāWe (had) sent downهَـٰذَاhādhāthisٱلْقُرْءَانَl-qur'ānaQuranعَلَىٰʿalāonجَبَلٍۢjabalina mountainلَّرَأَيْتَهُۥlara-aytahusurely you (would) have seen itخَـٰشِعًۭاkhāshiʿanhumbledمُّتَصَدِّعًۭاmutaṣaddiʿanbreaking asunderمِّنْminfromخَشْيَةِkhashyati(the) fearٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahi(of) Allahوَتِلْكَwatil'kaAnd theseٱلْأَمْثَـٰلُl-amthāluexamplesنَضْرِبُهَاnaḍribuhāWe present themلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsito the peopleلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَتَفَكَّرُونَyatafakkarūnagive thought
If We had sent down this Qur'an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah. And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought

59:21
22
هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ عَـٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ ۖ هُوَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
هُوَhuwaHeٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One Whoلَآlā(there is) noإِلَـٰهَilāhagodإِلَّاillābutهُوَ ۖhuwaHeعَـٰلِمُʿālimu(the) All-Knowerٱلْغَيْبِl-ghaybi(of) the unseenوَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ ۖwal-shahādatiand the witnessedهُوَhuwaHeٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُl-raḥmānu(is) the Most Graciousٱلرَّحِيمُl-raḥīmuthe Most Merciful
He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed. He is the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful

59:22
23
هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلْمَلِكُ ٱلْقُدُّوسُ ٱلسَّلَـٰمُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُ ٱلْمُهَيْمِنُ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْجَبَّارُ ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرُ ۚ سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
هُوَhuwaHeٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahٱلَّذِىalladhīthe One Whoلَآlā(there is) noإِلَـٰهَilāhagodإِلَّاillābutهُوَhuwaHeٱلْمَلِكُl-malikuthe Sovereignٱلْقُدُّوسُl-qudūsuthe Holy Oneٱلسَّلَـٰمُl-salāmuthe Giver of Peaceٱلْمُؤْمِنُl-mu'minuthe Giver of Securityٱلْمُهَيْمِنُl-muhayminuthe Guardianٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzuthe All-Mightyٱلْجَبَّارُl-jabāruthe Irresistibleٱلْمُتَكَبِّرُ ۚl-mutakabiruthe Supremeسُبْحَـٰنَsub'ḥānaGlory (be to)ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahعَمَّاʿammāfrom whatيُشْرِكُونَyush'rikūnathey associate (with Him)
He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him

59:23
24
هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقُ ٱلْبَارِئُ ٱلْمُصَوِّرُ ۖ لَهُ ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ يُسَبِّحُ لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
هُوَhuwaHeٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahٱلْخَـٰلِقُl-khāliquthe Creatorٱلْبَارِئُl-bāri-uthe Inventorٱلْمُصَوِّرُ ۖl-muṣawiruthe FashionerلَهُlahuFor Himٱلْأَسْمَآءُl-asmāu(are) the namesٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۚl-ḥus'nāthe beautifulيُسَبِّحُyusabbiḥuGlorifiesلَهُۥlahuHimمَاmāwhateverفِىfī(is) inٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖwal-arḍiand the earthوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mightyٱلْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise
He is Allah, the Creator, the Inventor, the Fashioner; to Him belong the best names. Whatever is in the heavens and earth is exalting Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise

59:24
