Surah 92 of 114 · Makki
سُورَةُ اللَّيۡلِ
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
1
وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ
وَٱلَّيْلِwa-al-layliBy the nightإِذَاidhāwhenيَغْشَىٰyaghshāit covers
By the night when it covers
⤳ Link
92:1
2
وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ
وَٱلنَّهَارِwal-nahāriAnd the dayإِذَاidhāwhenتَجَلَّىٰtajallāit shines in brightness
And [by] the day when it appears
⤳ Link
92:2
3
وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ
وَمَاwamāAnd He Whoخَلَقَkhalaqacreatedٱلذَّكَرَl-dhakarathe maleوَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓwal-unthāand the female
And [by] He who created the male and female

92:3
4
إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ
إِنَّinnaIndeedسَعْيَكُمْsaʿyakumyour effortsلَشَتَّىٰlashattā(are) surely diverse
Indeed, your efforts are diverse
⤳ Link
92:4
5
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ
فَأَمَّاfa-ammāThen as forمَنْman(him) whoأَعْطَىٰaʿṭāgivesوَٱتَّقَىٰwa-ittaqāand fears
As for he who gives and fears Allah

92:5
6
وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ
وَصَدَّقَwaṣaddaqaAnd believesبِٱلْحُسْنَىٰbil-ḥus'nāin the best
And believes in the best [reward]

92:6
7
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥfasanuyassiruhuThen We will ease himلِلْيُسْرَىٰlil'yus'rātowards [the] ease
We will ease him toward ease
⤳ Link
92:7
8
وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسْتَغْنَىٰ
وَأَمَّاwa-ammāBut as forمَنۢman(him) whoبَخِلَbakhilawithholdsوَٱسْتَغْنَىٰwa-is'taghnāand considers himself free from need
But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need

92:8
9
وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ
وَكَذَّبَwakadhabaAnd deniesبِٱلْحُسْنَىٰbil-ḥus'nāthe best
And denies the best [reward]
⤳ Link
92:9
10
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥfasanuyassiruhuThen We will ease himلِلْعُسْرَىٰlil'ʿus'rātowards [the] difficulty
We will ease him toward difficulty

92:10
11
وَمَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ
وَمَاwamāAnd notيُغْنِىyugh'nīwill availعَنْهُʿanhuhimمَالُهُۥٓmāluhuhis wealthإِذَاidhāwhenتَرَدَّىٰٓtaraddāhe falls
And what will his wealth avail him when he falls
⤳ Link
92:11
12
إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ
إِنَّinnaIndeedعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāupon Usلَلْهُدَىٰlalhudā(is) the guidance
Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance
⤳ Link
92:12
13
وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْـَٔاخِرَةَ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ
وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedلَنَاlanāfor Usلَلْـَٔاخِرَةَlalākhirata(is) the Hereafterوَٱلْأُولَىٰwal-ūlāand the first (life)
And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]

92:13
14
فَأَنذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًۭا تَلَظَّىٰ
فَأَنذَرْتُكُمْfa-andhartukumSo I warn youنَارًۭاnāran(of) a Fireتَلَظَّىٰtalaẓẓāblazing
So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing

92:14
15
لَا يَصْلَىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلْأَشْقَى
لَاlāNotيَصْلَىٰهَآyaṣlāhāwill burn (in) itإِلَّاillāexceptٱلْأَشْقَىl-ashqāthe most wretched
None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one

92:15
16
ٱلَّذِى كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
ٱلَّذِىalladhīThe one whoكَذَّبَkadhabadeniedوَتَوَلَّىٰwatawallāand turned away
Who had denied and turned away
⤳ Link
92:16
17
وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَتْقَى
وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَاwasayujannabuhāBut will be removed from itٱلْأَتْقَىl-atqāthe righteous
But the righteous one will avoid it

92:17
18
ٱلَّذِى يُؤْتِى مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ
ٱلَّذِىalladhīThe one whoيُؤْتِىyu'tīgivesمَالَهُۥmālahuhis wealthيَتَزَكَّىٰyatazakkā(to) purify himself
[He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself

92:18
19
وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعْمَةٍۢ تُجْزَىٰٓ
وَمَاwamāAnd notلِأَحَدٍli-aḥadinfor anyoneعِندَهُۥʿindahuwith himمِنminanyنِّعْمَةٍۢniʿ'matinfavorتُجْزَىٰٓtuj'zāto be recompensed
And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded
⤳ Link
92:19
20
إِلَّا ٱبْتِغَآءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ
إِلَّاillāExceptٱبْتِغَآءَib'tighāaseekingوَجْهِwajhi(the) Countenanceرَبِّهِrabbihi(of) his Lordٱلْأَعْلَىٰl-aʿlāthe Most High
But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High
⤳ Link
92:20
21
وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ
وَلَسَوْفَwalasawfaAnd soon, surelyيَرْضَىٰyarḍāhe will be pleased
And he is going to be satisfied

92:21
