Surah 102 of 114 · Makki
سُورَةُ التَّكَاثُرِ
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
1
أَلْهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ
أَلْهَىٰكُمُalhākumuDiverts youٱلتَّكَاثُرُl-takāthuruthe competition to increase
Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you

102:1
2
حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ ٱلْمَقَابِرَ
حَتَّىٰḥattāUntilزُرْتُمُzur'tumuyou visitٱلْمَقَابِرَl-maqābirathe graves
Until you visit the graveyards
⤳ Link
102:2
3
كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ
كَلَّاkallāNayسَوْفَsawfaSoonتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou will know
No! You are going to know

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ
ثُمَّthummaThenكَلَّاkallānayسَوْفَsawfaSoonتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou will know
Then no! You are going to know

102:4
5
كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ ٱلْيَقِينِ
كَلَّاkallāNayلَوْlawIfتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou knowعِلْمَʿil'ma(with) a knowledgeٱلْيَقِينِl-yaqīni(of) certainty
No! If you only knew with knowledge of certainty

6
لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ
لَتَرَوُنَّlatarawunnaSurely you will seeٱلْجَحِيمَl-jaḥīmathe Hellfire
You will surely see the Hellfire

7
ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ ٱلْيَقِينِ
ثُمَّthummaThenلَتَرَوُنَّهَاlatarawunnahāsurely you will see itعَيْنَʿayna(with the) eyeٱلْيَقِينِl-yaqīni(of) certainty
Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty

ثُمَّ لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
ثُمَّthummaThenلَتُسْـَٔلُنَّlatus'alunnasurely you will be askedيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinthat Dayعَنِʿaniaboutٱلنَّعِيمِl-naʿīmithe pleasures
Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure
