سُورَةُ الإِخۡلَاصِ
About this surah and its virtues
About Surah Al-Ikhlas
Revelation. Revealed in Makkah according to most scholars; some say Madinah.
Theme. Al-Ikhlas states the oneness of Allah in four verses: He is One, the Self-Sufficient, He neither begets nor was begotten, and nothing is comparable to Him. It is the Qur'an's most concise statement of tawhid.
Authentic virtues
- It is equal to a third of the Qur'an. (Sahih al-Bukhari 5013)
- Every night before sleep the Prophet ﷺ recited al-Ikhlas, al-Falaq and an-Nas into his cupped hands and wiped over his body, three times. (Sahih al-Bukhari 5017)
- “Recite al-Ikhlas and the two surahs of refuge three times in the evening and the morning; they will suffice you against everything.” (Sunan Abi Dawud 5082; Jami' at-Tirmidhi 3575, graded hasan sahih)
