Surah 111 of 114 · Makki
سُورَةُ المَسَدِ
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
1
تَبَّتْ يَدَآ أَبِى لَهَبٍۢ وَتَبَّ
تَبَّتْtabbatPerishيَدَآyadā(the) handsأَبِىabī(of) AbuلَهَبٍۢlahabinLahabوَتَبَّwatabbaand perish he
May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he

111:1
2
مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ
مَآmāNotأَغْنَىٰaghnā(will) availعَنْهُʿanhuhimمَالُهُۥmāluhuhis wealthوَمَاwamāand whatكَسَبَkasabahe earned
His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained

3
سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًۭا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍۢ
سَيَصْلَىٰsayaṣlāHe will be burntنَارًۭاnāran(in) a FireذَاتَdhātaofلَهَبٍۢlahabinBlazing Flames
He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame

وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلْحَطَبِ
وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥwa-im'ra-atuhuAnd his wifeحَمَّالَةَḥammālata(the) carrierٱلْحَطَبِl-ḥaṭabi(of) firewood
And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood

فِى جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌۭ مِّن مَّسَدٍۭ
فِىfīInجِيدِهَاjīdihāher neckحَبْلٌۭḥablun(will be) a ropeمِّنminofمَّسَدٍۭmasadinpalm-fiber
Around her neck is a rope of [twisted] fiber
