Arabic letters quiz
Ten questions a round. Match names, sounds and shapes, and spot the start, middle and end forms. The letters you miss come back until they stick. Progress stays on this device.
Sound buttons use your device’s built-in Arabic voice. It is a computer voice and is not tajwid-accurate. Learn the real sounds from a teacher or from recitation.

How this works
The quiz uses the same 28 letters and forms as the letters chart. Forms are drawn by your browser from the Arabic font, so each letter appears exactly as it does in a real text. Per-letter scores are stored in your browser only. For the join rule, see joining; for the vowel marks, harakat.
Frequently asked questions
How does the quiz choose questions?
Each round has 10 questions. Letters you get wrong, or have not seen yet, come up more often than letters you already know, so practice goes where it is needed.
Where is my progress saved?
Only in your own browser, using local storage. Nothing is sent to Niyat. Clearing your browser data, or the reset button below the quiz, removes it.
What counts as a mastered letter?
A letter counts as mastered once you have answered it correctly at least three times and at least 80 percent of your answers for it are right.
Why are the form questions so hard?
Because the start, middle and end forms of look-alike letters differ by small details and dots. That is exactly what slows early readers down. The form questions offer look-alike choices on purpose.
Can I practise just the join rule?
Yes. Choose the “Does it join?” mode. It asks whether a letter connects to the letter that follows it, which only six letters do not do.
