Greetings to copy

Arabic, transliteration and meaning. Where a line is a dua or a report, the source is given; customary greetings are marked as such.

    Laylah mubarakah

    A blessed night.

    Shab-e-Barat Mubarak (Urdu)

    Blessed night of Barat.

    Customary in South Asia.

  • Allah looks at His creation on the night of the middle of Sha‘ban and forgives all of them, except one who associates partners with Him and one who holds hatred.

Sunan Ibn Majah 1390. Scholars differ on its grading; al-Albani graded it sahih through its chains.

I seek the forgiveness of Allah the Mighty, besides whom there is no god, the Living, the Sustainer, and I turn to Him.

    Sunan Abi Dawud 1517, Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 3577.

Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul-‘afwa fa‘fu ‘anni

O Allah, You are Pardoning and love to pardon, so pardon me.

Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 3513 (taught for Laylat al-Qadr; a good dua at any time).

Rabbanaghfir lana wa li-ikhwaninal-ladhina sabaquna bil-iman

Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who went before us in faith.

    Qur’an 59:10.

    Allahumma ballighna Ramadan

O Allah, let us reach Ramadan.

A general dua. The longer wording that mentions Rajab and Sha‘ban (Musnad Ahmad) has a weak chain.

  • The Prophet ﷺ fasted more in Sha‘ban than in any month other than Ramadan.

    Sahih al-Bukhari 1969, Sahih Muslim 1156.

  • If I have wronged you, please forgive me. May Allah forgive us all on this night.

    English.

  • Remembering you in my duas tonight. A blessed night to you and your family.

    English.

How this works

  • Drawn on your device. Each design is drawn with code on an HTML canvas in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and the names you type are never sent to Niyat or put in the link.
  • Real Arabic lettering. The page waits for the Arabic fonts (Amiri for Naskh, Aref Ruqaa and Reem Kufi) to load before drawing, so letters join and read right to left as they should.
  • Sizes that fit. Post is 1080 by 1080 for chats and feeds. Story is 1080 by 1920 for WhatsApp status and Instagram stories, with the words kept clear of the top and bottom bars.
  • Sharing. On most phones Share sends the image straight to WhatsApp, Instagram or Messages. Where a browser cannot share images, the card is saved instead.

Sources: Qur’an references link to the Niyat Qur’an. Hadith numbers follow the standard numbering of each collection (Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abi Dawud, Jami’ at-Tirmidhi, Sunan an-Nasa’i, Sunan Ibn Majah). Fonts are from Google Fonts under the SIL Open Font License.

Frequently asked questions

What is Shab-e-Barat?

It is the South Asian name for the night of the 15th of Sha‘ban (Laylat al-Nisf min Sha‘ban). A hadith says Allah forgives His creation on this night, except the one who associates partners with Him and the one who holds hatred (Sunan Ibn Majah 1390).

Is there a special prayer for Shab-e-Barat?

No specific prayer for this night is authentically reported. Scholars differ on singling it out for worship: many hold that individual dua, Qur’an and voluntary prayer are good, while special congregational rituals are not established. These cards keep the wording general.

When is Shab-e-Barat 2027?

It is expected on the night of 23 January 2027 in Pakistan, the UK and the US, subject to the moon sighting.

What should I write on the card?

Something simple: a blessed night, a request for forgiveness, or a dua that you all reach Ramadan. The greetings below include sourced duas you can place on the card.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The card is drawn in your browser and nothing you type is sent to Niyat or saved.
