The Prophet ﷺ said this to a newly married man. Sunan Abi Dawud 2130, Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 1091.

Wa min ayatihi an khalaqa lakum min anfusikum azwajan litaskunu ilayha wa ja‘ala baynakum mawaddatan wa rahmah
Among His signs is that He created for you spouses from among yourselves so that you may find rest in them, and He placed between you love and mercy.
ربنا هب لنا من أزواجنا وذرياتنا قرة أعين
Rabbana hab lana min azwajina wa dhurriyyatina qurrata a‘yun
Our Lord, grant us from our spouses and children the coolness of our eyes.

How this works

What dua do you say to a newly married couple?
“Barakallahu laka wa baraka ‘alayka wa jama‘a baynakuma fi khayr”: may Allah bless you, shower blessings on you and bring you together in goodness. The Prophet ﷺ said this to newlyweds (Sunan Abi Dawud 2130, Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 1091).
Is there a greeting to avoid?
The pre-Islamic wish “bil-rifa’ wal-banin” (with harmony and sons) was replaced by the dua above. ‘Aqil ibn Abi Talib told people not to say it, citing the Prophet’s instruction (Sunan an-Nasa’i 3371).
Can I put both names on the card?
Yes. Write the couple’s names in For, for example Aisha and Yusuf, and your own name in From.
What size works for a wedding WhatsApp group?
Square (1080 by 1080) is best for chats. Story (1080 by 1920) fills a status or Instagram story.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The card is drawn in your browser and nothing you type is sent to Niyat or saved.
