Surah 64 of 114 · Madani
سُورَةُ التَّغَابُنِ
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
1
يُسَبِّحُ لِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ لَهُ ٱلْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ ٱلْحَمْدُ ۖ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ قَدِيرٌ
يُسَبِّحُyusabbiḥuGlorifiesلِلَّهِlillahi[to] Allahمَاmāwhateverفِىfī(is) inٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَاwamāand whateverفِىfī(is) inٱلْأَرْضِ ۖl-arḍithe earthلَهُlahuFor Himٱلْمُلْكُl-mul'ku(is the) dominionوَلَهُwalahuand for Himٱلْحَمْدُ ۖl-ḥamdu(is) the praiseوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heعَلَىٰʿalā(is) onكُلِّkullieveryشَىْءٍۢshayinthingقَدِيرٌqadīrunAll-Powerful
Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth is exalting Allah. To Him belongs dominion, and to Him belongs [all] praise, and He is over all things competent

64:1
2
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُمْ فَمِنكُمْ كَافِرٌۭ وَمِنكُم مُّؤْمِنٌۭ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ
هُوَhuwaHeٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) the One Whoخَلَقَكُمْkhalaqakumcreated youفَمِنكُمْfaminkumand among youكَافِرٌۭkāfirun(is) a disbelieverوَمِنكُمwaminkumand among youمُّؤْمِنٌۭ ۚmu'minun(is) a believerوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou doبَصِيرٌbaṣīrun(is) All-Seer
It is He who created you, and among you is the disbeliever, and among you is the believer. And Allah, of what you do, is Seeing

64:2
3
خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَصَوَّرَكُمْ فَأَحْسَنَ صُوَرَكُمْ ۖ وَإِلَيْهِ ٱلْمَصِيرُ
خَلَقَkhalaqaHe createdٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earthبِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiwith truthوَصَوَّرَكُمْwaṣawwarakumand He formed youفَأَحْسَنَfa-aḥsanaand made goodصُوَرَكُمْ ۖṣuwarakumyour formsوَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Himٱلْمَصِيرُl-maṣīru(is) the final return
He created the heavens and earth in truth and formed you and perfected your forms; and to Him is the [final] destination

64:3
4
يَعْلَمُ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُسِرُّونَ وَمَا تُعْلِنُونَ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ
يَعْلَمُyaʿlamuHe knowsمَاmāwhatفِىfī(is) inٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَيَعْلَمُwayaʿlamuand He knowsمَاmāwhatتُسِرُّونَtusirrūnayou concealوَمَاwamāand whatتُعْلِنُونَ ۚtuʿ'linūnayou declareوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَلِيمٌۢʿalīmun(is) All-Knowingبِذَاتِbidhātiof whatٱلصُّدُورِl-ṣudūri(is in) the breasts
He knows what is within the heavens and earth and knows what you conceal and what you declare. And Allah is Knowing of that within the breasts

64:4
5
أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ نَبَؤُا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن قَبْلُ فَذَاقُوا۟ وَبَالَ أَمْرِهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ
أَلَمْalamHas notيَأْتِكُمْyatikumcome to youنَبَؤُا۟naba-u(the) newsٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoكَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelievedمِنminfromقَبْلُqablubeforeفَذَاقُوا۟fadhāqūSo they tastedوَبَالَwabāla(the bad) consequenceأَمْرِهِمْamrihim(of) their affairوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌۭalīmunpainful
Has there not come to you the news of those who disbelieved before? So they tasted the bad consequence of their affair, and they will have a painful punishment

64:5
6
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُۥ كَانَت تَّأْتِيهِمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ فَقَالُوٓا۟ أَبَشَرٌۭ يَهْدُونَنَا فَكَفَرُوا۟ وَتَوَلَّوا۟ ۚ وَّٱسْتَغْنَى ٱللَّهُ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ غَنِىٌّ حَمِيدٌۭ
ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThatبِأَنَّهُۥbi-annahu(is) becauseكَانَتkānathadتَّأْتِيهِمْtatīhimcome to themرُسُلُهُمrusuluhumtheir Messengersبِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِbil-bayinātiwith clear proofsفَقَالُوٓا۟faqālūbut they saidأَبَشَرٌۭabasharunShall human beingsيَهْدُونَنَاyahdūnanāguide usفَكَفَرُوا۟fakafarūSo they disbelievedوَتَوَلَّوا۟ ۚwatawallawand turned awayوَّٱسْتَغْنَىwa-is'taghnāAnd can do without themٱللَّهُ ۚl-lahuAllahوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahغَنِىٌّghaniyyun(is) Self-sufficientحَمِيدٌۭḥamīdunPraiseworthy
That is because their messengers used to come to them with clear evidences, but they said, "Shall human beings guide us?" and disbelieved and turned away. And Allah dispensed [with them]; and Allah is Free of need and Praiseworthy

64:6
7
زَعَمَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَن لَّن يُبْعَثُوا۟ ۚ قُلْ بَلَىٰ وَرَبِّى لَتُبْعَثُنَّ ثُمَّ لَتُنَبَّؤُنَّ بِمَا عَمِلْتُمْ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرٌۭ
زَعَمَzaʿamaClaimٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُوٓا۟kafarūdisbelieveأَنanthatلَّنlanneverيُبْعَثُوا۟ ۚyub'ʿathūwill they be raisedقُلْqulSayبَلَىٰbalāYesوَرَبِّىwarabbīby my Lordلَتُبْعَثُنَّlatub'ʿathunnasurely you will be raisedثُمَّthummathenلَتُنَبَّؤُنَّlatunabba-unnasurely you will be informedبِمَاbimāof whatعَمِلْتُمْ ۚʿamil'tumyou didوَذَٰلِكَwadhālikaAnd thatعَلَىʿalāforٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahيَسِيرٌۭyasīrun(is) easy
Those who disbelieve have claimed that they will never be resurrected. Say, "Yes, by my Lord, you will surely be resurrected; then you will surely be informed of what you did. And that, for Allah, is easy

64:7
8
فَـَٔامِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَٱلنُّورِ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلْنَا ۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌۭ
فَـَٔامِنُوا۟faāminūSo believeبِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَرَسُولِهِۦwarasūlihiand His Messengerوَٱلنُّورِwal-nūriand the Lightٱلَّذِىٓalladhīwhichأَنزَلْنَا ۚanzalnāWe have sent downوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou doخَبِيرٌۭkhabīrun(is) All-Aware
So believe in Allah and His Messenger and the Qur'an which We have sent down. And Allah is Acquainted with what you do

64:8
9
يَوْمَ يَجْمَعُكُمْ لِيَوْمِ ٱلْجَمْعِ ۖ ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمُ ٱلتَّغَابُنِ ۗ وَمَن يُؤْمِنۢ بِٱللَّهِ وَيَعْمَلْ صَـٰلِحًۭا يُكَفِّرْ عَنْهُ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِۦ وَيُدْخِلْهُ جَنَّـٰتٍۢ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًۭا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
يَوْمَyawma(The) DayيَجْمَعُكُمْyajmaʿukumHe will assemble youلِيَوْمِliyawmifor (the) Dayٱلْجَمْعِ ۖl-jamʿi(of) the Assemblyذَٰلِكَdhālikathatيَوْمُyawmu(will be the) Dayٱلتَّغَابُنِ ۗl-taghābuni(of) mutual loss and gainوَمَنwamanAnd whoeverيُؤْمِنۢyu'minbelievesبِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَيَعْمَلْwayaʿmaland doesصَـٰلِحًۭاṣāliḥanrighteous deedsيُكَفِّرْyukaffirHe will removeعَنْهُʿanhufrom himسَيِّـَٔاتِهِۦsayyiātihihis evil deedsوَيُدْخِلْهُwayud'khil'huand He will admit himجَنَّـٰتٍۢjannātin(to) Gardensتَجْرِىtajrīflowمِنminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath itٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُl-anhāruthe riversخَـٰلِدِينَkhālidīnaabidingفِيهَآfīhāthereinأَبَدًۭا ۚabadanforeverذَٰلِكَdhālikaThatٱلْفَوْزُl-fawzu(is) the successٱلْعَظِيمُl-ʿaẓīmuthe great
The Day He will assemble you for the Day of Assembly - that is the Day of Deprivation. And whoever believes in Allah and does righteousness - He will remove from him his misdeeds and admit him to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the great attainment

64:9
10
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۖ وَبِئْسَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ
وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaBut those whoكَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelievedوَكَذَّبُوا۟wakadhabūand deniedبِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآbiāyātinā[in] Our Versesأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikathoseأَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsٱلنَّارِl-nāri(of) the Fireخَـٰلِدِينَkhālidīnaabiding foreverفِيهَا ۖfīhāthereinوَبِئْسَwabi'saAnd wretched isٱلْمَصِيرُl-maṣīruthe destination
But the ones who disbelieved and denied Our verses - those are the companions of the Fire, abiding eternally therein; and wretched is the destination

64:10
11
مَآ أَصَابَ مِن مُّصِيبَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَمَن يُؤْمِنۢ بِٱللَّهِ يَهْدِ قَلْبَهُۥ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌۭ
مَآmāNotأَصَابَaṣābastrikesمِنminanyمُّصِيبَةٍmuṣībatindisasterإِلَّاillāexceptبِإِذْنِbi-idh'niby (the) permissionٱللَّهِ ۗl-lahi(of) AllahوَمَنwamanAnd whoeverيُؤْمِنۢyu'minbelievesبِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin AllahيَهْدِyahdiHe guidesقَلْبَهُۥ ۚqalbahuhis heartوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahبِكُلِّbikulliof everyشَىْءٍshayinthingعَلِيمٌۭʿalīmun(is) All-Knowing
No disaster strikes except by permission of Allah. And whoever believes in Allah - He will guide his heart. And Allah is Knowing of all things

64:11
12
وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ ۚ فَإِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَىٰ رَسُولِنَا ٱلْبَلَـٰغُ ٱلْمُبِينُ
وَأَطِيعُوا۟wa-aṭīʿūSo obeyٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَأَطِيعُوا۟wa-aṭīʿūand obeyٱلرَّسُولَ ۚl-rasūlathe Messengerفَإِنfa-inbut ifتَوَلَّيْتُمْtawallaytumyou turn awayفَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen onlyعَلَىٰʿalāuponرَسُولِنَاrasūlināOur Messengerٱلْبَلَـٰغُl-balāghu(is) the conveyanceٱلْمُبِينُl-mubīnuclear
And obey Allah and obey the Messenger; but if you turn away - then upon Our Messenger is only [the duty of] clear notification

64:12
13
ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
ٱللَّهُal-lahuAllahلَآlā(there is) noإِلَـٰهَilāhagodإِلَّاillāexceptهُوَ ۚhuwaHimوَعَلَىwaʿalāAnd uponٱللَّهِl-lahiAllahفَلْيَتَوَكَّلِfalyatawakkalilet put (their) trustٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَl-mu'minūnathe believers
Allah - there is no deity except Him. And upon Allah let the believers rely

64:13
14
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِنَّ مِنْ أَزْوَٰجِكُمْ وَأَوْلَـٰدِكُمْ عَدُوًّۭا لَّكُمْ فَٱحْذَرُوهُمْ ۚ وَإِن تَعْفُوا۟ وَتَصْفَحُوا۟ وَتَغْفِرُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌ
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(you) whoءَامَنُوٓا۟āmanūbelieveإِنَّinnaIndeedمِنْminfromأَزْوَٰجِكُمْazwājikumyour spousesوَأَوْلَـٰدِكُمْwa-awlādikumand your childrenعَدُوًّۭاʿaduwwan(are) enemiesلَّكُمْlakumto youفَٱحْذَرُوهُمْ ۚfa-iḥ'dharūhumso beware of themوَإِنwa-inBut ifتَعْفُوا۟taʿfūyou pardonوَتَصْفَحُوا۟wataṣfaḥūand overlookوَتَغْفِرُوا۟wataghfirūand forgiveفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahغَفُورٌۭghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَّحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
O you who have believed, indeed, among your wives and your children are enemies to you, so beware of them. But if you pardon and overlook and forgive - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful

64:14
15
إِنَّمَآ أَمْوَٰلُكُمْ وَأَوْلَـٰدُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌۭ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عِندَهُۥٓ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌۭ
إِنَّمَآinnamāOnlyأَمْوَٰلُكُمْamwālukumyour wealthوَأَوْلَـٰدُكُمْwa-awlādukumand your childrenفِتْنَةٌۭ ۚfit'natun(are) a trialوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuand Allah عِندَهُۥٓʿindahuwith Himأَجْرٌajrun(is) a rewardعَظِيمٌۭʿaẓīmungreat
Your wealth and your children are but a trial, and Allah has with Him a great reward

64:15
16
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ وَٱسْمَعُوا۟ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ وَأَنفِقُوا۟ خَيْرًۭا لِّأَنفُسِكُمْ ۗ وَمَن يُوقَ شُحَّ نَفْسِهِۦ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ
فَٱتَّقُوا۟fa-ittaqūSo fearٱللَّهَl-lahaAllahمَاmāwhatٱسْتَطَعْتُمْis'taṭaʿtumyou are ableوَٱسْمَعُوا۟wa-is'maʿūand listenوَأَطِيعُوا۟wa-aṭīʿūand obeyوَأَنفِقُوا۟wa-anfiqūand spendخَيْرًۭاkhayran(it is) betterلِّأَنفُسِكُمْ ۗli-anfusikumfor yourselvesوَمَنwamanAnd whoeverيُوقَyūqais savedشُحَّshuḥḥa(from the) greedinessنَفْسِهِۦnafsihi(of) his soulفَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseهُمُhumu[they]ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَl-muf'liḥūna(are) the successful ones
So fear Allah as much as you are able and listen and obey and spend [in the way of Allah]; it is better for your selves. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful

64:16
17
إِن تُقْرِضُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًۭا يُضَـٰعِفْهُ لَكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ شَكُورٌ حَلِيمٌ
إِنinIfتُقْرِضُوا۟tuq'riḍūyou loanٱللَّهَl-laha(to) Allahقَرْضًاqarḍana loanحَسَنًۭاḥasanangoodlyيُضَـٰعِفْهُyuḍāʿif'huHe will multiply itلَكُمْlakumfor youوَيَغْفِرْwayaghfirand will forgiveلَكُمْ ۚlakumyouوَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahشَكُورٌshakūrun(is) Most AppreciativeحَلِيمٌḥalīmunMost Forbearing
If you loan Allah a goodly loan, He will multiply it for you and forgive you. And Allah is Most Appreciative and Forbearing

64:17
18
عَـٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ
عَـٰلِمُʿālimu(The) Knowerٱلْغَيْبِl-ghaybi(of) the unseenوَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِwal-shahādatiand the witnessedٱلْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzuthe All-Mightyٱلْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise
Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Exalted in Might, the Wise

64:18
