Surah 56 of 114 · Makki
سُورَةُ الوَاقِعَةِ
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
1
إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ
إِذَاidhāWhenوَقَعَتِwaqaʿatioccursٱلْوَاقِعَةُl-wāqiʿatuthe Event
When the Occurrence occurs
⤳ Link
56:1
2
لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ
لَيْسَlaysaNotلِوَقْعَتِهَاliwaqʿatihāat its occurrenceكَاذِبَةٌkādhibatuna denial
There is, at its occurrence, no denial

56:2
3
خَافِضَةٌۭ رَّافِعَةٌ
خَافِضَةٌۭkhāfiḍatunBringing downرَّافِعَةٌrāfiʿatunraising up
It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]
⤳ Link
56:3
4
إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ رَجًّۭا
إِذَاidhāWhenرُجَّتِrujjatiwill be shakenٱلْأَرْضُl-arḍuthe earthرَجًّۭاrajjan(with) a shaking
When the earth is shaken with convulsion
⤳ Link
56:4
5
وَبُسَّتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ بَسًّۭا
وَبُسَّتِwabussatiAnd will be crumbledٱلْجِبَالُl-jibāluthe mountainsبَسًّۭاbassan(with awful) crumbling
And the mountains are broken down, crumbling

56:5
6
فَكَانَتْ هَبَآءًۭ مُّنۢبَثًّۭا
فَكَانَتْfakānatSo they becomeهَبَآءًۭhabāandust particlesمُّنۢبَثًّۭاmunbathandispersing
And become dust dispersing
⤳ Link
56:6
7
وَكُنتُمْ أَزْوَٰجًۭا ثَلَـٰثَةًۭ
وَكُنتُمْwakuntumAnd you will becomeأَزْوَٰجًۭاazwājankindsثَلَـٰثَةًۭthalāthatanthree
And you become [of] three kinds
⤳ Link
56:7
8
فَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ
فَأَصْحَـٰبُfa-aṣḥābuThen (the) companionsٱلْمَيْمَنَةِl-maymanati(of) the rightمَآmāwhatأَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsٱلْمَيْمَنَةِl-maymanati(of) the right
Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right
⤳ Link
56:8
9
وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ
وَأَصْحَـٰبُwa-aṣḥābuAnd (the) companionsٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِl-mashamati(of) the leftمَآmāwhatأَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِl-mashamati(of) the left
And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left
⤳ Link
56:9
10
وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ ٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ
وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَwal-sābiqūnaAnd the foremostٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَl-sābiqūna(are) the foremost
And the forerunners, the forerunners
⤳ Link
56:10
11
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThoseٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَl-muqarabūna(are) the nearest ones
Those are the ones brought near [to Allah]

12
فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
فِىfīInجَنَّـٰتِjannātiGardensٱلنَّعِيمِl-naʿīmi(of) Pleasure
In the Gardens of Pleasure
⤳ Link
56:12
13
ثُلَّةٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
ثُلَّةٌۭthullatunA companyمِّنَminaofٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīnathe former (people)
A [large] company of the former peoples
⤳ Link
56:13
14
وَقَلِيلٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
وَقَلِيلٌۭwaqalīlunAnd a fewمِّنَminaofٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَl-ākhirīnathe later (people)
And a few of the later peoples

56:14
15
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍۢ مَّوْضُونَةٍۢ
عَلَىٰʿalāOnسُرُرٍۢsururinthronesمَّوْضُونَةٍۢmawḍūnatindecorated
On thrones woven [with ornament]
⤳ Link
56:15
16
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَـٰبِلِينَ
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَmuttakiīnaRecliningعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāon themمُتَقَـٰبِلِينَmutaqābilīnafacing each other
Reclining on them, facing each other
⤳ Link
56:16
17
يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٌۭ مُّخَلَّدُونَ
يَطُوفُyaṭūfuWill circulateعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimamong themوِلْدَٰنٌۭwil'dānunboysمُّخَلَّدُونَmukhalladūnaimmortal
There will circulate among them young boys made eternal

56:17
18
بِأَكْوَابٍۢ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍۢ مِّن مَّعِينٍۢ
بِأَكْوَابٍۢbi-akwābinWith vesselsوَأَبَارِيقَwa-abārīqaand jugsوَكَأْسٍۢwakasinand a cupمِّنminfromمَّعِينٍۢmaʿīnina flowing stream
With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring
⤳ Link
56:18
19
لَّا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنزِفُونَ
لَّاlāNotيُصَدَّعُونَyuṣaddaʿūnathey will get headacheعَنْهَاʿanhātherefromوَلَاwalāand notيُنزِفُونَyunzifūnathey will get intoxicated
No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated

56:19
20
وَفَـٰكِهَةٍۢ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ
وَفَـٰكِهَةٍۢwafākihatinAnd fruitsمِّمَّاmimmāof whatيَتَخَيَّرُونَyatakhayyarūnathey select
And fruit of what they select
⤳ Link
56:20
21
وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍۢ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ
وَلَحْمِwalaḥmiAnd (the) fleshطَيْرٍۢṭayrin(of) fowlsمِّمَّاmimmāof whatيَشْتَهُونَyashtahūnathey desire
And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire

56:21
22
وَحُورٌ عِينٌۭ
وَحُورٌwaḥūrunAnd fair onesعِينٌۭʿīnun(with) large eyes
And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes

56:22
23
كَأَمْثَـٰلِ ٱللُّؤْلُؤِ ٱلْمَكْنُونِ
كَأَمْثَـٰلِka-amthāliLikeٱللُّؤْلُؤِl-lu'lu-ipearlsٱلْمَكْنُونِl-maknūniwell-protected
The likenesses of pearls well-protected
⤳ Link
56:23
24
جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
جَزَآءًۢjazāanA rewardبِمَاbimāfor whatكَانُوا۟kānūthey used (to)يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
As reward for what they used to do

56:24
25
لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًۭا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا
لَاlāNotيَسْمَعُونَyasmaʿūnathey will hearفِيهَاfīhāthereinلَغْوًۭاlaghwanvain talkوَلَاwalāand notتَأْثِيمًاtathīmansinful (speech)
They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin

56:25
26
إِلَّا قِيلًۭا سَلَـٰمًۭا سَلَـٰمًۭا
إِلَّاillāExceptقِيلًۭاqīlana sayingسَلَـٰمًۭاsalāmanPeaceسَلَـٰمًۭاsalāmanPeace
Only a saying: "Peace, peace
⤳ Link
56:26
27
وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ
وَأَصْحَـٰبُwa-aṣḥābuAnd (the) companionsٱلْيَمِينِl-yamīni(of) the rightمَآmāwhatأَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsٱلْيَمِينِl-yamīni(of) the right
The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right
⤳ Link
56:27
28
فِى سِدْرٍۢ مَّخْضُودٍۢ
فِىfīAmongسِدْرٍۢsid'rinlote treesمَّخْضُودٍۢmakhḍūdinthornless
[They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed
⤳ Link
56:28
29
وَطَلْحٍۢ مَّنضُودٍۢ
وَطَلْحٍۢwaṭalḥinAnd banana treesمَّنضُودٍۢmanḍūdinlayered
And [banana] trees layered [with fruit]
⤳ Link
56:29
30
وَظِلٍّۢ مَّمْدُودٍۢ
وَظِلٍّۢwaẓillinAnd shadeمَّمْدُودٍۢmamdūdinextended
And shade extended
⤳ Link
56:30
31
وَمَآءٍۢ مَّسْكُوبٍۢ
وَمَآءٍۢwamāinAnd waterمَّسْكُوبٍۢmaskūbinpoured forth
And water poured out
⤳ Link
56:31
32
وَفَـٰكِهَةٍۢ كَثِيرَةٍۢ
وَفَـٰكِهَةٍۢwafākihatinAnd fruitكَثِيرَةٍۢkathīratinabundant
And fruit, abundant [and varied]
⤳ Link
56:32
33
لَّا مَقْطُوعَةٍۢ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍۢ
لَّاlāNotمَقْطُوعَةٍۢmaqṭūʿatinlimitedوَلَاwalāand notمَمْنُوعَةٍۢmamnūʿatinforbidden
Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden
⤳ Link
56:33
34
وَفُرُشٍۢ مَّرْفُوعَةٍ
وَفُرُشٍۢwafurushinAnd (on) couchesمَّرْفُوعَةٍmarfūʿatinraised
And [upon] beds raised high
⤳ Link
56:34
35
إِنَّآ أَنشَأْنَـٰهُنَّ إِنشَآءًۭ
إِنَّآinnāIndeed, Weأَنشَأْنَـٰهُنَّanshanāhunna[We] have produced themإِنشَآءًۭinshāan(into) a creation
Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation
⤳ Link
56:35
36
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُنَّfajaʿalnāhunnaAnd We have made themأَبْكَارًاabkāranvirgins
And made them virgins
⤳ Link
56:36
37
عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًۭا
عُرُبًاʿurubanDevotedأَتْرَابًۭاatrābanequals in age
Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age
⤳ Link
56:37
38
لِّأَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
لِّأَصْحَـٰبِli-aṣḥābiFor (the) companionsٱلْيَمِينِl-yamīni(of) the right
For the companions of the right [who are]
⤳ Link
56:38
39
ثُلَّةٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
ثُلَّةٌۭthullatunA companyمِّنَminaofٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīnathe former people
A company of the former peoples
⤳ Link
56:39
40
وَثُلَّةٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
وَثُلَّةٌۭwathullatunAnd a companyمِّنَminaofٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَl-ākhirīnathe later people
And a company of the later peoples
⤳ Link
56:40
41
وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ
وَأَصْحَـٰبُwa-aṣḥābuAnd (the) companionsٱلشِّمَالِl-shimāli(of) the leftمَآmāwhatأَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsٱلشِّمَالِl-shimāli(of) the left
And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left
⤳ Link
56:41
42
فِى سَمُومٍۢ وَحَمِيمٍۢ
فِىfīInسَمُومٍۢsamūminscorching fireوَحَمِيمٍۢwaḥamīminand scalding water
[They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water
⤳ Link
56:42
43
وَظِلٍّۢ مِّن يَحْمُومٍۢ
وَظِلٍّۢwaẓillinAnd a shadeمِّنminofيَحْمُومٍۢyaḥmūminblack smoke
And a shade of black smoke
⤳ Link
56:43
44
لَّا بَارِدٍۢ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ
لَّاlāNotبَارِدٍۢbāridincoolوَلَاwalāand notكَرِيمٍkarīminpleasant
Neither cool nor beneficial
⤳ Link
56:44
45
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ
إِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, theyكَانُوا۟kānūwereقَبْلَqablabeforeذَٰلِكَdhālikathatمُتْرَفِينَmut'rafīnaindulging in affluence
Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence
⤳ Link
56:45
46
وَكَانُوا۟ يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى ٱلْحِنثِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
وَكَانُوا۟wakānūAnd wereيُصِرُّونَyuṣirrūnapersistingعَلَىʿalāinٱلْحِنثِl-ḥinthithe sinٱلْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmithe great
And they used to persist in the great violation
⤳ Link
56:46
47
وَكَانُوا۟ يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
وَكَانُوا۟wakānūAnd they used (to)يَقُولُونَyaqūlūnasayأَئِذَاa-idhāWhenمِتْنَاmit'nāwe dieوَكُنَّاwakunnāand becomeتُرَابًۭاturābandustوَعِظَـٰمًاwaʿiẓāmanand bonesأَءِنَّاa-innāwill weلَمَبْعُوثُونَlamabʿūthūnasurely be resurrected
And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected

56:47
48
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَاawaābāunāAnd also our fathersٱلْأَوَّلُونَl-awalūnaformer
And our forefathers [as well]
⤳ Link
56:48
49
قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ وَٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
قُلْqulSayإِنَّinnaIndeedٱلْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīnathe formerوَٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَwal-ākhirīnaand the later people
Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and the later peoples
⤳ Link
56:49
50
لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَـٰتِ يَوْمٍۢ مَّعْلُومٍۢ
لَمَجْمُوعُونَlamajmūʿūnaSurely, will be gatheredإِلَىٰilāforمِيقَـٰتِmīqāti(the) appointmentيَوْمٍۢyawmin(of) a Dayمَّعْلُومٍۢmaʿlūminwell-known
Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day
⤳ Link
56:50
51
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَ
ثُمَّthummaThenإِنَّكُمْinnakumindeed youأَيُّهَاayyuhāO those astrayٱلضَّآلُّونَl-ḍālūnaO those astrayٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَl-mukadhibūnathe deniers
Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers

56:51
52
لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرٍۢ مِّن زَقُّومٍۢ
لَـَٔاكِلُونَlaākilūnaWill surely eatمِنminfromشَجَرٍۢshajarin(the) treeمِّنminofزَقُّومٍۢzaqqūminZaqqum
Will be eating from trees of zaqqum
⤳ Link
56:52
53
فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ
فَمَالِـُٔونَfamāliūnaThen will fillمِنْهَاmin'hāwith itٱلْبُطُونَl-buṭūnathe bellies
And filling with it your bellies
⤳ Link
56:53
54
فَشَـٰرِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْحَمِيمِ
فَشَـٰرِبُونَfashāribūnaAnd drinkعَلَيْهِʿalayhiover itمِنَmina[from]ٱلْحَمِيمِl-ḥamīmithe scalding water
And drinking on top of it from scalding water
⤳ Link
56:54
55
فَشَـٰرِبُونَ شُرْبَ ٱلْهِيمِ
فَشَـٰرِبُونَfashāribūnaAnd will drinkشُرْبَshur'ba(as) drinkingٱلْهِيمِl-hīmi(of) the thirsty camels
And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels
⤳ Link
56:55
56
هَـٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ
هَـٰذَاhādhāThisنُزُلُهُمْnuzuluhum(is) their hospitalityيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayٱلدِّينِl-dīni(of) Judgment
That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense
⤳ Link
56:56
57
نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ
نَحْنُnaḥnuWeخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْkhalaqnākum[We] created youفَلَوْلَاfalawlāso why (do) notتُصَدِّقُونَtuṣaddiqūnayou admit the truth
We have created you, so why do you not believe
⤳ Link
56:57
58
أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تُمْنُونَ
أَفَرَءَيْتُمafara-aytumDo you seeمَّاmāwhatتُمْنُونَtum'nūnayou emit
Have you seen that which you emit
⤳ Link
56:58
59
ءَأَنتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ
ءَأَنتُمْa-antumIs it youتَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓtakhluqūnahuwho create itأَمْamorنَحْنُnaḥnu(are) Weٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَl-khāliqūnathe Creators
Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator
⤳ Link
56:59
60
نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ
نَحْنُnaḥnuWeقَدَّرْنَاqaddarnā[We] have decreedبَيْنَكُمُbaynakumuamong youٱلْمَوْتَl-mawtathe deathوَمَاwamāand notنَحْنُnaḥnuWeبِمَسْبُوقِينَbimasbūqīna(are) outrun
We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone

56:60
61
عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمْثَـٰلَكُمْ وَنُنشِئَكُمْ فِى مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
عَلَىٰٓʿalāInأَنanthatنُّبَدِّلَnubaddilaWe (will) changeأَمْثَـٰلَكُمْamthālakumyour likeness[es]وَنُنشِئَكُمْwanunshi-akumand produce youفِىfīinمَاmāwhatلَاlānotتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou know
In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know

56:61
62
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyعَلِمْتُمُʿalim'tumuyou knowٱلنَّشْأَةَl-nashatathe creationٱلْأُولَىٰl-ūlāthe firstفَلَوْلَاfalawlāso why notتَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnayou take heed
And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember

56:62
63
أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تَحْرُثُونَ
أَفَرَءَيْتُمafara-aytumAnd do you seeمَّاmāwhatتَحْرُثُونَtaḥruthūnayou sow
And have you seen that [seed] which you sow
⤳ Link
56:63
64
ءَأَنتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ
ءَأَنتُمْa-antumIs it you (who)تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓtazraʿūnahucause it to growأَمْamorنَحْنُnaḥnu(are) Weٱلزَّٰرِعُونَl-zāriʿūnathe Ones Who grow
Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower
⤳ Link
56:64
65
لَوْ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ حُطَـٰمًۭا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ
لَوْlawIfنَشَآءُnashāuWe willedلَجَعَلْنَـٰهُlajaʿalnāhuWe (would) surely, make itحُطَـٰمًۭاḥuṭāmandebrisفَظَلْتُمْfaẓaltumthen you would remainتَفَكَّهُونَtafakkahūnawondering
If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder
⤳ Link
56:65
66
إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ
إِنَّاinnāIndeed, weلَمُغْرَمُونَlamugh'ramūnasurely are laden with debt
[Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt
⤳ Link
56:66
67
بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ
بَلْbalNayنَحْنُnaḥnuweمَحْرُومُونَmaḥrūmūna(are) deprived
Rather, we have been deprived
⤳ Link
56:67
68
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلْمَآءَ ٱلَّذِى تَشْرَبُونَ
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُafara-aytumuDo you seeٱلْمَآءَl-māathe waterٱلَّذِىalladhīwhichتَشْرَبُونَtashrabūnayou drink
And have you seen the water that you drink
⤳ Link
56:68
69
ءَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ
ءَأَنتُمْa-antumIs it youأَنزَلْتُمُوهُanzaltumūhuwho send it downمِنَminafromٱلْمُزْنِl-muz'nithe rain cloudsأَمْamorنَحْنُnaḥnuWeٱلْمُنزِلُونَl-munzilūna(are) the Ones to send
Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down
⤳ Link
56:69
70
لَوْ نَشَآءُ جَعَلْنَـٰهُ أُجَاجًۭا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ
لَوْlawIfنَشَآءُnashāuWe willedجَعَلْنَـٰهُjaʿalnāhuWe (could) make itأُجَاجًۭاujājansaltyفَلَوْلَاfalawlāthen why are you not gratefulتَشْكُرُونَtashkurūnathen why are you not grateful
If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful

56:70
71
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى تُورُونَ
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُafara-aytumuDo you seeٱلنَّارَl-nārathe Fireٱلَّتِىallatīwhichتُورُونَtūrūnayou ignite
And have you seen the fire that you ignite

ءَأَنتُمْ أَنشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَآ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَ
ءَأَنتُمْa-antumIs it youأَنشَأْتُمْanshatumwho producedشَجَرَتَهَآshajaratahāits treeأَمْamorنَحْنُnaḥnuWeٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَl-munshiūna(are) the Producers
Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer

73
نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَـٰهَا تَذْكِرَةًۭ وَمَتَـٰعًۭا لِّلْمُقْوِينَ
نَحْنُnaḥnuWeجَعَلْنَـٰهَاjaʿalnāhāhave made itتَذْكِرَةًۭtadhkiratana reminderوَمَتَـٰعًۭاwamatāʿanand a provisionلِّلْمُقْوِينَlil'muq'wīnafor the wayfarers in the desert
We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers

فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
فَسَبِّحْfasabbiḥSo glorifyبِٱسْمِbi-is'mi(the) nameرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordٱلْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmithe Most Great
So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great

75
۞ فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَٰقِعِ ٱلنُّجُومِ
۞ فَلَآfalāBut nayأُقْسِمُuq'simuI swearبِمَوَٰقِعِbimawāqiʿiby settingٱلنُّجُومِl-nujūmi(of) the stars
Then I swear by the setting of the stars

76
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَقَسَمٌۭ لَّوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ
وَإِنَّهُۥwa-innahuAnd indeed, itلَقَسَمٌۭlaqasamun(is) surely an oathلَّوْlawifتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou know عَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
And indeed, it is an oath - if you could know - [most] great

77
إِنَّهُۥ لَقُرْءَانٌۭ كَرِيمٌۭ
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, itلَقُرْءَانٌۭlaqur'ānun(is) surely, a Quranكَرِيمٌۭkarīmunnoble
Indeed, it is a noble Qur'an

فِى كِتَـٰبٍۢ مَّكْنُونٍۢ
فِىfīInكِتَـٰبٍۢkitābina Bookمَّكْنُونٍۢmaknūninwell-guarded
In a Register well-protected

56:78
79
لَّا يَمَسُّهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَ
لَّاlāNoneيَمَسُّهُۥٓyamassuhutouch itإِلَّاillāexceptٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَl-muṭaharūnathe purified
None touch it except the purified

80
تَنزِيلٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
تَنزِيلٌۭtanzīlunA Revelationمِّنminfromرَّبِّrabbi(the) Lordٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds

56:80
81
أَفَبِهَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ أَنتُم مُّدْهِنُونَ
أَفَبِهَـٰذَاafabihādhāThen is it to thisٱلْحَدِيثِl-ḥadīthistatementأَنتُمantumthat youمُّدْهِنُونَmud'hinūna(are) indifferent
Then is it to this statement that you are indifferent

82
وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ
وَتَجْعَلُونَwatajʿalūnaAnd you makeرِزْقَكُمْriz'qakumyour provisionأَنَّكُمْannakumthat youتُكَذِّبُونَtukadhibūnadeny
And make [the thanks for] your provision that you deny [the Provider]

83
فَلَوْلَآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلْحُلْقُومَ
فَلَوْلَآfalawlāThen why notإِذَاidhāwhenبَلَغَتِbalaghatiit reachesٱلْحُلْقُومَl-ḥul'qūmathe throat
Then why, when the soul at death reaches the throat

56:83
84
وَأَنتُمْ حِينَئِذٍۢ تَنظُرُونَ
وَأَنتُمْwa-antumAnd youحِينَئِذٍۢḥīna-idhin(at) that timeتَنظُرُونَtanẓurūnalook on
And you are at that time looking on

56:84
85
وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا تُبْصِرُونَ
وَنَحْنُwanaḥnuAnd Weأَقْرَبُaqrabu(are) nearerإِلَيْهِilayhito himمِنكُمْminkumthan youوَلَـٰكِنwalākinbutلَّاlāyou (do) not seeتُبْصِرُونَtub'ṣirūnayou (do) not see
And Our angels are nearer to him than you, but you do not see

56:85
86
فَلَوْلَآ إِن كُنتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ
فَلَوْلَآfalawlāThen why notإِنinifكُنتُمْkuntumyou areغَيْرَghayranotمَدِينِينَmadīnīnato be recompensed
Then why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed

56:86
87
تَرْجِعُونَهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
تَرْجِعُونَهَآtarjiʿūnahāBring it backإِنinifكُنتُمْkuntumyou areصَـٰدِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
Bring it back, if you should be truthful

56:87
88
فَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ
فَأَمَّآfa-ammāThenإِنinifكَانَkānahe wasمِنَminaofٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَl-muqarabīnathose brought near
And if the deceased was of those brought near to Allah

56:88
89
فَرَوْحٌۭ وَرَيْحَانٌۭ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍۢ
فَرَوْحٌۭfarawḥunThen restوَرَيْحَانٌۭwarayḥānunand bountyوَجَنَّتُwajannatuand a Gardenنَعِيمٍۢnaʿīmin(of) Pleasure
Then [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure

56:89
90
وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
وَأَمَّآwa-ammāAndإِنinifكَانَkānahe wasمِنْminofأَصْحَـٰبِaṣḥābi(the) companionsٱلْيَمِينِl-yamīni(of) the right
And if he was of the companions of the right
⤳ Link
56:90
91
فَسَلَـٰمٌۭ لَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
فَسَلَـٰمٌۭfasalāmunThen, peaceلَّكَlakafor youمِنْmin[from]أَصْحَـٰبِaṣḥābi(the) companionsٱلْيَمِينِl-yamīni(of) the right
Then [the angels will say], "Peace for you; [you are] from the companions of the right

56:91
92
وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
وَأَمَّآwa-ammāButإِنinifكَانَkānahe wasمِنَminaofٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَl-mukadhibīnathe deniersٱلضَّآلِّينَl-ḍālīnathe astray
But if he was of the deniers [who were] astray

56:92
93
فَنُزُلٌۭ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍۢ
فَنُزُلٌۭfanuzulunThen, hospitalityمِّنْminofحَمِيمٍۢḥamīmin(the) scalding water
Then [for him is] accommodation of scalding water
⤳ Link
56:93
94
وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ
وَتَصْلِيَةُwataṣliyatuAnd burningجَحِيمٍjaḥīmin(in) Hellfire
And burning in Hellfire
⤳ Link
56:94
95
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ
إِنَّinnaIndeedهَـٰذَاhādhāthisلَهُوَlahuwasurely, itحَقُّḥaqqu(is the) truthٱلْيَقِينِl-yaqīnicertain
Indeed, this is the true certainty

فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
فَسَبِّحْfasabbiḥSo glorifyبِٱسْمِbi-is'mi(the) nameرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordٱلْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmithe Most Great
So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great
