What to know before Friday
- The command. “O you who believe, when the call to prayer is made on Friday, hasten to the remembrance of Allah and leave off trade” (Qur'an 62:9-10, read Surah al-Jumu'ah).
- The warning against neglect. The Prophet ﷺ said people must stop missing Jumuah or Allah will seal their hearts (Sahih Muslim 865).
- Plan the journey. Use the walking and driving links, and arrive before the khutbah starts: it is part of the prayer.

Frequently asked questions
What time is Jumuah near me?
Jumuah is prayed in the time of Dhuhr, so it cannot begin before Dhuhr does. The tool shows this Friday's Dhuhr time at your location. Each mosque sets its own khutbah and prayer time, often 15 to 60 minutes after Dhuhr begins, so confirm with the mosque.
Is Jumuah obligatory?
Yes, on free, resident, adult Muslim men (Qur'an 62:9). "Hasten to the remembrance of Allah and leave off trade." Women and travellers are not obliged but may attend, and it then replaces their Dhuhr.
Can I pray Jumuah before Dhuhr time starts?
The majority of scholars, including the Hanafi, Maliki and Shafi'i schools, say Jumuah is valid only after the sun passes its highest point. A Hanbali opinion allows it a little earlier. Follow the practice of the mosque you attend.
How does this find the nearest Jumuah mosque?
It sorts every mosque in the Niyat directory by straight-line distance from you and shows the nearest 20. Most mosques hold Jumuah, but a few small prayer rooms do not, so check before you travel.
Does this tool know each mosque's Jumuah time?
Not yet. The time shown is when Dhuhr begins at your location by calculation. Mosque khutbah times are set locally and change through the year.
Is my location saved or shared?
No. Your position is read by your browser, used to sort the list on your device and is never sent to Niyat.
