How to add a prayer times widget to Squarespace

Add a Code Block to the page, paste the widget's code with the display mode set to HTML, and save. JavaScript in a Code Block needs the Core plan or higher.

Steps

  1. Open the page in the Squarespace editor.
  2. Click an insertion point (the + between sections or blocks) and choose Code from the block menu. Click More first if Code is not shown.
  3. Paste the embed code into the Code Block editor. Get your own version from the widget builder first.
  4. Confirm the block's display mode is HTML, not Markdown or plain text, so the browser runs it instead of printing it as text.
  5. Save the block, then save or publish the page.

Good to know. JavaScript and iframes inside a Code Block require the Core plan or above. On Squarespace's free trial or a legacy Personal plan, the code is saved but the script will not run, so the widget will not appear.

This is a generic starting point. Open the widget builder to set your own coordinates, timezone, and calculation method, and to build the Hijri date or Ramadan countdown widget instead.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Will this work on the Squarespace free trial?

Not reliably. JavaScript in a Code Block needs the Core plan or higher. If you are still on a free trial or a legacy Personal plan, upgrade first.

Can I add it to the site footer so it shows on every page?

Yes, on plans that support footer code injection. Squarespace's site-wide Code Injection (Settings → Advanced → Code Injection) accepts the same script tag in the Footer field.
