Prayer times in Dhaka

The calculation method, the Asr question, and how to get Dhaka’s times right — without guessing.

No live clock here. Prayer times shift daily with the sun, so this page stays evergreen. Use it to set the right method for Dhaka, then trust a live-calculating app for today’s schedule.
University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi Asr: Hanafi

Calculation method

Fajr and Isha are computed at 18° below the horizon — the South Asian standard used across Bangladesh.

Asr (madhab)

Predominantly Hanafi: Asr begins when an object's shadow equals twice its length. Most Dhaka mosques follow this, so Asr here runs roughly 50–60 minutes later than a Shafi’i calculation.

Local context

What matters locally is the iqamah (jamaat) gap each mosque sets after the adhan — that gap varies by mosque, so match the adhan schedule to your app and follow your mosque’s iqamah.

Setting it up

  1. Open your prayer-time app and pick Dhaka (or let it use your GPS).
  2. Set the calculation method to University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi.
  3. Choose the Asr convention your mosque uses — here, typically Hanafi.
  4. Compare one day’s Fajr and Maghrib against your mosque’s adhan; if they’re within a minute or two, you’re set.
