A travel supplication recorded in the Ibn as-Sunni 524 tradition.
Allahumma inni as'aluka khayra hadhihil qaryah
O Allah, I ask You for the good of this town.
Source: Ibn as-Sunni 524 (weak chain). Note: some scholars have classified this narration as weak; many still recite the meaning given that the wording is sound.
Say this dua when you arrive somewhere new, before stepping out into the unfamiliar town. It's a Prophetic habit recorded by the Companions when they entered new lands.
This narration is found in 'Amal al-Yawm wa-l-Laylah by Ibn as-Sunni. The chain has been classified as weak by some hadith scholars; many still recite it given the general principle of leniency in the duas of devotion when the meaning is sound. The dua of the traveller is considered a time when Allah is especially responsive — the Prophet (peace be upon him) listed it among the three duas that are not rejected. The travel supplications are meant to keep that responsiveness in the traveller's mind.
